If there was a heaven
made just for writers
what would it look like?
The compound had to be huge
thousands of acres spread
like the long arms of a polar bear
with a thick furry belly to keep it warm
Would we each have a team
of researchers at our beck and call?
Or would we still have to enjoy
the process of finding things ourselves?
We might have an endless buffet
of anything we could ever imagine to eat
cooked up by a lab of literary geniuses.
Their one job, make our dreams a reality.
We'd have no need for money
or material things.
Simplicity to focus
our ever wandering interest.
Or, perhaps, would we be quartered off
stashed away in holes of heaven
tucked into our own personal dreams
of the best place to write?
We'd still each need
a companion.
Someone to inspire us
and maybe even
write with us.
But they'd need to leave us alone
when we got overwhelmed by
our creativity, drilling us into our "zone."
And everyone would read
each other's works
to guarantee an audience
for each and every writer.
Oh wait, we have a heaven already,
YWS does that doesn't it? We read
and eat our fellow writers' work
devouring their content greedily
like hungry munchkins
So I guess a writer heaven
would be blue and white,
online, full of helpful friends,
and inside jokes.
And miles of articles written
just for us, by us, about us,
exploring our craft and tools.
Here's to you, YWS.
Thanks for always
being there for us.

Hi! Storygirl95 here to review!
it's lovely.
I LOVE this! I mean, of course. It's beautiful not only because I'm a writer but also because it's about YWS! This community is so great, and it really deserves to be represented and given the love we have for it. And you certainly did that with this piece!
I only have a few things, and you obviously have the option to ignore all of them. Poetry is very personal, and there are no real "rules."
I agree with armisael below me. The lines length is a big part of the visual aspect of poetry, so it matters just as much as the number of line. Varying them or kind of playing games with the format can make the poem more like an experience rather than something to simply read.
I like your usage of conjunctions, so just keep them consistent if you want them. It's hard to do, I know, but it really makes a piece more polished. I have this problem myself ALL the time, it's the worst.
Also, I found it a bit curious that you don't consistently use commas in certain stanzas or areas of the poem, and really consistently in others. I expected one at the line "YWS does that doesn't it?" I thought you'd have one after "that." Just my opinion though. Like I said, it's really all subjective.
Overall, I think it's a really great piece. It made me smile, and I think you've done YWS justice for sure. Great job!
So, yeah! I hope you have a wonderful night and keep writing!
This is great! I love it.
Wow. This is very good. I like it. The question of the whole poem. Does your poem have a certain amount of stanzas? I really like it
I really, really love this! I'd leave a review, but I really don't have anything to say. It's such a beautiful poem, and sweet too!
Fun poem, very lighthearted and nice! The shifts in stanza length is a little disconcerting—try to vary your line length instead of the number of lines in the stanzas. There's also a noticeable shift in conjunctions, in whether they're actually present or not. Try sticking to either keeping them or doing away with them completely. I love the content! A good celebratory work has always been welcome, especially on a friendly open forum. Keep it up!
