The Struggle

by WJK
PreviousNext

Lifeless and dead to some,

complex and divine to few.

No one seeing the true meaning.

Not one to ask, beside his kin.

Mellow skin reflects the mundane existence.

And shields an irate core.

Mind and body, a constant struggle

No ease can be felt, only by a temporary haze.

Foggy grey, then golden rays.

His life and death, remains the same.

Hello CapitalMonday here for a review. I like to begin on how you express your thought on a written screen and how the tone of voice in my head is telling me. The thought you have expressed on here is that i can totally relate. People who talk behind my back but i would ignore them as they walked down the halls, watching their eyes look at me. Then as I would go home, I would cry myself to sleep then wake up with a puffy face and think maybe they are right? Why have a big nose rather than a little nose? And I'm sure half the people, have been bullied and wondered if they were right for whatever they had called them(like my friends and everyone else I know).

Plus some people don't seem to understand that people have feelings and are no some rock they kick over and over again. The tone of this poem is like a cry for help or a knowing that danger would be lurking wherever they might go. These people hide in the shadows afraid and not ready to come out, even when it is sunny outside.

Farewell and keep writing,
CapitalMonday

I'm afraid I don't really understand this, it's quite muddled and a bit unclear? I know some poems are meant to be confusing, but this doesn't seem like it should be one of them. However, I encourage you to keep up the good work. Everyone always has a chance to improve!

I'm actually glad that I'm getting diverse responses to this piece. It's refreshing to have multiple opinions. Sorry that I couldn't convey my thoughts, but I guess my writing style is kinda different. But hey, I'm still a beginner, and no matter what level of skill, there is always room for improvement, and skills to learn. Thanks for the feedback.

I can relate to this. This looks like a work originated in the soul. I love those kinds of works, because they contain meaning. I have depression, so most of the stuff that I write is dark as well. This is a great piece, written from the heart. I admire your skills as an author, and I also like your choice of vocabulary. It is complex, but not too complex as to not being able to understand. Overall, very good.

Hello WJK I'm here to review...

This is a beautiful piece. It tells much of what i feel myself. I know exactly the emotions you're experiencing.
The part i loved the most is the last 2 lines. They are desperate and painful, but beauti.

Well, first I think you should say "No one to ask" instead of "Not one..." in the 4th line.
Second: In line 8.. may be you can use "but" instead of "only"; it sounds lighter.

I got nothing else to say but I love your poem. I loved the language too.
keep up :)

You wrote this wonderfully. it's like, the reader can understand what you're trying to say.
your using of punctuation mark is nice (wait, today, at all review, I'm saying about punctuation mark, strange!)

let's come to the point Ana, you're too much!

Well, anyway, I've liked your first two lines.

"Lifeless and dead to some,
complex and divine to few."

some and few. nice.

"His life and death, remains the same."

Even it's a review on a poetry, i would love to tell you, life and death is never same. death is not beautiful but life is. though both of them are beginning, but, life is never full of wonder like death, it's never the same. not for anybody..

"mercy"

Have a nice day!

It's true life & death are never the same, but you never know which is better until you try them both. Who knows? May be death is the beginning of your happiness.

Never though it like that.. but, perhaps, who knows, it can be. but, we don't need to hurry for knowing that. when it's right time, we are just bound to know.
