Pain... the subtle kind.

by WJK

Pain... the subtle kind.

Through countless occasions, to feel nothing but an endless bond between hatred and hope.

Remote and even beyond the mind, the deep self-induced wound continues.

Nobody to hold but the truth, the sharp stab of reality.

For no one deserves my horrific being. Even death would be ashamed.

Cursed and forgotten. Loathing and miserable. Cold but boiling. Utterly confused.

One day is my destination, and it's in my dreams. But slowly fading, away, and away...

Goodbye to the past, for I miss you too dear. I can only see the mirror, but not through the glass.

Only sleep can save me, for a moment at least. And maybe I'll actually learn tonight, for what I am wasting.

Aw, I get it though. I love how you wrote this, I can really (kind of hate myself for this) feel your pain. (No pun intended.) The flow is great, your words pack a punch and hold every bit of emotion this poem is meant to stir (in my opinion). Thought we probably have a different desire of destination I get it, especially the past and the saving by sleep part. It just never lasts long enough. At least you know now you are not alone. (Corny I know :) but hey.)

Hey,

This is a great poem. I can relate to it completely. I love your use of punctuation as well, thank you for not forgetting it! I love the dark feeling maintained through out this piece as well, I feel like it kinda ties the whole thing together. Nice choice of words, I could tell your idea remained strong through out it. I also know that's not how I wanted to word that last sentence but couldn't figure out how to properly reword it. I agree with carmenbluestar I feel like there is a story waiting to be written in here somewhere and I really hope that story does get written because it would make my day. Thank you for writing this however, I struggle with depression and even if you don't reading things like this always makes my life a little easier to bare just for the moment.
Sincerely,

Dark but interesting.
That was my primary opinion, but with a few more reads I feel so much more coming from this poem.
It's good and meaningful and you should know that you've done a great job.
Nice pacing, nice word choice is a general flow that works so well with the theme.
I would personally love to know your motivation to write this poem, the inspiration behind. I feel as though there is a story to go along with it somewhere. :)
