Paradox

Bright lights,
Sharp sounds,
Overwhelming -
A world of confusion.
Swarming crowds
Mouths move silently:
Floating words
Dancing from my reach.
Chaos and disorder
No routine,
No order.
A world without sense,
No head nor tail.
No direction.

Encased in liquid diamond.
Trapped,
Lost,
Outcast,
Stranger.
Who am I?
What am I?
Taciturn,
Mute,
Fragile.
Words tangled,
Mind scrambled,
No beginning or end.
Skin contact
Burns like wildfire.
Eye contact
Disconcerting.
Emotionless,
Without facial expression.
Ravaging emotions inside
With no left or right;
No stigma, no control.
I am not a psychopath
Nor a sociopath.
But an enigma,
A paradox
Yet to be understood.

A lost jigsaw piece,
From a world of order,
A world of routine
And understanding.
Flung into a world
Of chaos and disorder.
An insane world
Of alienation,
Rejection
And pain.
Laughter and cruel taunts,
As sharp as knives:
"You're in your own world;
You don't belong here.
Go back to where you came from,
And stay there!"

My world:
No chaos, no disorder.
Routine and repetition.
A world without hurt
And pain.
It's my place to escape to,
My world
And my world only.
A jigsaw puzzle
That no one else can solve.
My shield and shell.
But my descending spiral
Into loneliness,
Sadness
And taciturnity.
A constant tug of war
Between my world and reality.
A will to break free
Of my misunderstood mind,
And to be like them:
The "normal" people.
To be able to speak
Of my own free will,
To not be trapped
By periods of muteness.
To be free of routine
And repetition.
Fear pulls me back
Hurls me back to my world:
A world of safety,
Warmth,
And sense.
Away from the bright lights,
Away from the sharp sounds.
Engulfed by soothing darkness,
Immersed in the comforting silence.
No more crowds.
Just me and myself,
No other company.

I am irregular:
Chaos walking,
A living bomb.
You are regular:
A jigsaw piece,
A part of this world,
A world of madness
And confusion.
Teach me,
The cogs and wheels
Of this world.
Teach me to be like you -
To speak,
Catch those dancing words
And to read
Those face expressions:
The meaning of a smirk,
The definition of a frown,
The significance of a wince.
Intellect, emotions and empathy.
To operate without routine.
No repetition.
And I'll teach you,
How my world works,
How the pieces
Fit and bind together.
The clockwork,
And the never ending echoes.
And at last
A spark of hope,
A beginning.
The mark of a new era,
An era of understanding,
And conveying.
No more questions,
No more confusion.
We can finally fit together,
And at last,
I am a part of your jigsaw puzzle.

Normality
Is all I want.
Functioning in normality,
To function
In this insane world.
A world of madness and confusion.

Hi! there TaciturnPhantom :) ..

*applauds*
You made use of such strong and compelling words to express your deepest thoughts about a certain matter. I really like it as well as it's flow.

I don't know, if my interpretation is shallow but it felt like s/he is pushed and commanded to just stay in his/her comfort zone. Like s/he is being neglected and is not considered to be a part of their society/world. But then, everything can change when someone reaches out.

Feel free to correct me, if I got it all wrong.

This is an engrossing poem.
Keep writing :)

Hai Taci, Laure here again! *pushes glasses up* That was a very intense read. Not so much long, I actually didn't even realize the length of this poem until I finished it. The emotions are there are very vivid and bright, especially these conflicting emotions like anger, sorrow, frustration and pain. You have a grasp at protraying them in the most concise yet brightest way. I guess I can relate to this poem as well, being in a world of your own and whil everyone out is on a different frequency. Well, that's ok. I'm in your era. I don't know how to review your poems, Taci. They are all so dynamic and powerful, is hard to critic at them. So I will just go onto and say what I think about this poem.

As mentioned above, I loved the idea in this poem in which I can relate to. I also love the way you have written is, short words one or two that keeps the pace fast, constant and steady. These little short bursts of emotions and scenes that all goes to a bigger picture. What you have depicted above is actually a very controversial subject, yet I still feel as though you have included many of the problems in society today with that poem. That need to be one with the others, and what happens when you are different and others resent you for it. Your way of writing poems is entirely in a league of its own, so I just...

Wow. Keep writing.

Oh My Lord! No wonder it has no reviews ....so....long....must ...review *dies*

Here goes the next half hour of my life

Hey there Kat here to review for you and Reiewlution on this fine review day, enjoy!

*phew* actually not to bad. The length of the poem erases any confusion the reader might have and I actually feel really awake after reading this. Like I do when computing a paradox or E=MC^2. Paradox is certainly the name for this poem. I feel like if I close my eyes that I can see everything that this person thinks ad feels on a daily basis and how their world works. I also sense the deep content in their mind and the way they long to be in such a a confusing society and for someone to understand them. Toward the end it seems like they found someone to teach and someone to teach them how to be and fit in in todays crazy society. it was really enjoyable and I wish people weren't so scared of long poems like this, it was really thought provoking. I liked the constant separation between his/her mind (world) and how society functions and how you kept comparing it to a jigsaw puzzle and showed the way society rejects people and ideas it doesn't understand or views and different or foreign. I feel like this person will enlighten us and truly bring us into a new era with his/her thinking and with all the imagery you used this is certainly a poem and an idea that will stay in my head for awhile. It's so ice to see something so unusual. The flow ended up being surprisingly nice and aside from one or two parts didn't really distract from the meaning. making this any longer or shorter or adding rhyme would be a writing sin because it is so oddly perfect. I was expecting to tear this to bits because the beginning was so confusing but it gradually built and I fell in love with this it's just beautiful! The imagery was so vivid and juicy just ...wow thanks. PM me if you want more feed back or write something. I don't tell people they can PM me often but this is the best writing I have read all week. Better than the featured works. five out of five an I totally love you right now!
