Freedom

Adrenaline pulses through my veins;
My heart is ready to beat
As I leap from the edge of the cliff.
My once bound wings unfurl
Catching the air and lifting me upwards,
Upwards to my freedom.

The bonds have broken:
The chains of deafness shattered,
And the ropes of autism snapped.
Gone are the dancing words
That slide from my grasp;
Gone is the suffocating silence
That once formed the iron bars of my cage.
No more confusion – chaos and disorder;
No barrier that separated me
From the crowds.
Socialisation, facial expressions, emotions
Together form a language
That I can now truly understand!

“There will always be a light
At the end of the tunnel.”
"Don't dream it; believe it!"
Words spoken a few months ago,
Filled with hope and love
That would save my descending
And spiralling world.
Laughter, my laughter
Streams beside me
As I rocket through the air
Towards the rising sun:
My future, my hope.
No more misunderstanding;
No more enigma or taciturnity!
Nothing will stop me
From fulfilling my dreams now
And belonging to this world!

Woah! This was an amazing piece of poetry! The descriptive imagery and its vivid vocabulary eluded to the meaningful ideas behind this poem. I especially liked the lines

"There will always be a light
At the end of the tunnel."
"Don't dream it; believe it!"

They made me feel more connected to the narrator, as these phrases of encouragement are well-known.
Really well done!

Hi, Messenger here to review for you on ReviewDay!!!

So, I see you have gotten two short reviews, but to tell you the truth, there isn't really much more to be said. (I'll still somehow make a review out of this)

To start off let me say you have explosive imagery! And you really make the reader FEEL the poem. It comes alive so brilliantly! I loved the opening stanza. It just gets us right into the action! And then, without slowing down, you explain more of what is happening. And I love poems that are uplifting (no pun intended lol) and this one fits the description.

The whole time I feel like you have momentum building. This poem just surges forward and explodes! The Main Character seems like a really interesting person, and I love how you subtly explained the premise for the story.

"Don't dream it; believe it!"

I love that line!!!

My future, my hope.
No more misunderstanding;
No more enigma or taciturnity!
Nothing will stop me
From fulfilling my dreams now
And belonging to this world!

Amazing resilience and determination. This poem just gets my blood boiling and my confidence levels soaring out of this world! Love the poem.

WOW!
Really a great poem. I really enjoyed it. it pulled me into read more and I love how (correct me if im wrong) its about suicide. lots of kids go through having loved ones by their side but then get turned on or they just are put in to a bad situation and cant get out. This to me shows they were in a situation and the only way out was to kill them self giving them freedom :)
Absolutely amazing nothing to change. good work

Great poem! Reminded me of lots of different things including this one mythical Greek story I read a while ago (can't remember what it was called). I think I found this more bitter-sweet than anything else, to be honest. Nice job! ^_^
