Welcome, my five wonderful readers! @Deanie @IamTraunt @Noelle @ConfusedGlasses @Thewriter13 : This work is specifically for you, but generally for anyone who wants to read my little thingamajig.
For those of you who haven't read it, Things Fall Apart is my novel about three siblings (triplets) who experience their last year of high school together. One is a blind bookworm, one is an alcoholic party queen and one is a closeted homosexual. Together, with their nine-year-old sister, Arinna, these kids conquer their fears, fall in love, deal with their problems, and survive Melton "Meltdown" Academy.
The following is a little work on each character. I write character analyses for each major character, and I figured since I spent so much time on them, they deserved to be seen. I love little details about characters I read about, so I thought, why not do one of my own?
Enjoy.
Mr. Elliot Highlander is the Dean of Students at Melton Academy, and the father to the three main characters. He enjoys golfing (but only on rainy days, because nobody is on the course) and watching America's Next Top Model with his wife (don't tell the guys at the club that!) He is the strict disciplinarian of the Highlander family, and often is left to deal with his children's problems.
Mrs. Elizabeth Highlander is the Headmistress of Melton Academy and the kind-hearted mother of the main characters. She enjoys making her own jewelry (see the necklace above) and forcing her husband to watch America's Next Top Model every Wednesday. She also enjoys reading Agatha Christie novels and is amazing at guessing the endings of movies.
Arinna Highlander is the youngest of the Highlander clan at only nine. She loves One Direction and horses, but she is not a fan of broccoli, thank you very much. She dotes on her big sister, Asteria, and constantly asks her blind sister, Juno, to play ping pong with her, often forgetting about her sister's condition. She's the proud owner of a mountain of toys, including two American Girl Dolls, both named Marley, her teddy bear, also named Marley and her baby blanket, which she named– yes, you guessed it– Marley.
Behold! Bow down to the Queen Bee of Melton High, Asteria "'Steria," Highlander. Asteria has a little problem with alcohol, but little by little, she's dealing with it. She loves playing pranks, whether it's on her siblings, on her teachers, or on the whole school! She has an inferiority complex due to her twin sister's high grades, so don't push her buttons about school. No one knows it, but Asteria loves climbing trees, and is often spotted in one in her backyard whenever she's home.
Juno "Junebug" Highlander is a beautiful bookworm, struck blind during a mysterious occurrence nicknamed The Incident by her family and Emma Fitzgerald, her best friend and the only person at Melton who knows her secret. She loves to read, but has trouble with Braille, so she mostly listens to Audiobooks with the help of her service monkey, Sir Reginald III, or Reginald. Emma helps her with everything, from walking her around school to taking notes for her in class. Throughout the course of the book, Juno begins to fall for Melton's sweetheart, Ben James. Stay tuned to the novel to find out what happens between them!
Enter from stage right: Freyr "Frey" Highlander! Frey is a closeted homosexual obsessed with all things musical theatre, but, contrary to the stereotype, a hopeless failure when it comes to fashion– Asteria has to help him dress some days! Aside from drama, Frey loves watching football, specifically watching his love interest, Adrian Kingston, play football. He enjoys watching America's Next Top Model with his parents, but detests all cooking shows. Frey is sarcastic, sassy, and a superb brother, according to Asteria and Juno, his triplet sisters.
Adrian Kingston is a hottie from the football team, and a closeted homosexual himself. A few months before the start of the novel, Adrian came out to his family and Frey's family, who are close friends. Adrian struggles to get comfortable with himself in his newfound sexuality, and suggests coming out at school to Frey. He loves playing football and lacrosse, but wishes he could be himself around his teammates. We'll have to see how far he's willing to go to be himself.
Emma Fitzgerald is Juno's best friend and Helper. She, too, loves reading but unfortunately for Juno, she turns out to be a bit of a gossip as well! She's obsessed with Frey, much to his (and Adrian's) dismay. Emma has a heart as big as her mouth, which often lands her in hot water. Emma is kind and compassionate, which is good for Juno, who can be grumpy sometimes. She's a great friend, but time will tell where her true loyalties lie.
Ben James the Boy With Two Names is Melton's cookie-cutter hottie: captain of the football team, National Merit Scholar, constantly voted Class President and King of every dance, and, not to mention, good with the ladies. Ben's technically good physique doesn't seem to help him earn the heart of his crush (and soulmate?) Juno, due to her blindness, but that doesn't seem to stop Ben from going out of his way to win her over. Ben loves playing sports, but his real passion is writing! Ben loves writing poetry, short stories, even some Disney fan fiction– but don't tell the guys on the football team or he'll never hear the end of it!
As requested, a sweet little picture of Reginald (full name, Sir Reginald III)! Reginald is Juno's service capuchin monkey, who loves to get wet in a bath and cuddle when he's dry. Reginald was adopted by Juno and her family a few years after The Incident, but Reginald cannot accompany Juno to school unless it's an emergency or an important event... Or something. Reginald wasn't really listening when Juno was explaining it. He's a spry, clever monkey and one of Juno's best friends.

Hey there your Highness!
She looks like she can be quite stern sometimes, but then soft when she needs to be as well. I love it <3
Now that would've been a nice touch!

I just had to drop by when I heard I could get some more back up info on the characters. I didn't know it came with pictures too though D: That is a real bonus! Most of the characters look sorta how I imagined them too, so I am glad for that, yay! Now excuse my gushing/commenting which I am probably going to leave as a review...
Because I am sneakeh like thatOkay, let's do it character by character! The dad is pretty much how I expected him to be. I feel like he's a real softie for his wife, seeing as he gives in to watch a really girly show with her all the time. But when it comes to the kids he is more the backbone kind ^.^ I think it would be worth you mentioning his relationship with Asteria here too. Saying how he is especially strict with her when it comes to her drinking problem because he thinks she doesn't take it seriously, and he just wants his daughter to get better. It's more an example of his strictness, but might be worth a mention.
Oh yes! I would love to read Agatha Christie and predict movie endings with their mother! She looks ideal for being a headmistress though
I don't have much to say when it comes to Frey though. Frey can just be Frey! You should've mentioned his liking to the Fray though
Arinna sounds like every cute little kid... naming everything they have the same name xD So cute and she looks just like my friends little sister O.o Which is kind of creepy, but also just makes me understand her more. The kind of kid who is always doing something new, like painting or skateboarding or simply trying things out to get some attention from her siblings (in the best way possible) and to seem more grown up, like them. I wonder how she feels about being the youngest, or does she not mind too much? Is she aware of all the problems going on or does it all kind of flow over her head? More things that might be worth a think about and mention in the analysis
Asteria is so beautiful D: <3 No wonder she is the Queen Bee! One thing I am puzzling about though, is how did she even get into this drinking problem in the first place? Ooh, I can see this coming into the novel as well, as something big. I always thought her main thing would be stopping the addiction and the battle for Ben James, but it might be nice to get a bit of backstory onto her problem as well.
We need a picture of Reginald! It's only fair!
Juno looks so much like Asteria, it's no wonder they are both after the same guy D: Triplets, eh? More like twins and a guy xD I didn't know Emma knows her secret... hmm, that needs to find a way into the novel as well, just so readers know that Emma knows ^.^
Emma and Adrian look nothing like I had envisioned them too, and they are the only characters that this happened with. I think maybe you should have more character descriptions on them in the novel then? I know, I am supposed to be commenting on the character analysis but all I can seem to do think about the novel. They are related, I guess, so um, *shrugs* That's my excuse!
Ben... Ben is so sweeeet. I can't wait to see his writer side come out in the story, however that is going to happen xD Just can't wait.
I have to go read that secret chapter! Soon as possible <3

Reginald!
As you suggested!
Oops, that didn't work. I'll try something else XD
Uh... do I really have to say something cause I am speechless....
in a good way...
Nice idea
Is that Alexander Ludwig?! *dies*

Well done, Royal! I enjoyed reading this and now that you've included pictures (especially that last one) I'm visualizing this story even better
Keep it up, this novel is REALLY good!!!
Alexander Ludwig!! <3 <3 ^^
Hey! IamTraunt here to... Um, talk? I dunno. Maybe just to admire really.
This is truly a great idea - I always love to get to know a person's character in great depth - I'm the type of person who daydreams in class and in the car (and practically anywhere) about characters in my Comics, Books and just my Tv shows (yes. I like to write screen plays as well). This is so exciting!
Sorry about this, but... EMMA IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED! I have memory default so I forget a lot of things, but did you mention that Emma was black? (And btw, very pretty). I can now have a clear picture of her in my head.
Ben James TBWTN is totally what I expected, you write with this... Aura, I guess, that leads me to suspect this is how Ben is. Good job!
Aw <3 Asteria and Juno are so beautiful! They are both amazing characters and I-wish-they-were-real-so-badly! Frey is cool too. And wow - Adrian O.o I wasn't expecting him to look like that either! I imagined him so differently. But he's still amazing.
Thank you for putting this out. See you soon!
The decision about Adrian's ethnicity was a last-minute thing I decided on. I want to have main characters that aren't your typical all-white cast, gosh darn it!
Glad you like it!
Fun fact: the pictures of Juno and Asteria are actually the same person in two different poses!
Emma is a little weird to write about, since I never fully developed her in my mind. But hopefully she'll reveal herself to me soon.
Its good to have characters that are from different countries, cultures and background - its gives that much needed spice to your story. I like this development.
I guessed that about the pictures ^^ Question: What's the difference between them O.o I'd be very confused if I were Ben.
Yay! More of Emma!
I loved it!
Asteria's face is a little smaller and her hair is straighter XD
XD good answer!
Oh - and I can't wait for the next chapter!
