Scary part ch 3

PreviousNext

Holly is out of breath making it up and down many hills, clutching the amulet with her hand. She had arrived in the deep woods not too long ago as she hides from the murderer that killed her preacher in front of her.

"Maybe this amulet is bringing negativity to pine lake." Holly said aloud.

Darkness sets in. She cannot see the path in front of her but she looks behind her. Only little light remains from the city she just escaped from but she can still see that she lost the murderer.

Sitting up against the tree she takes in all that has happened. She contemplates whether she should drop the amulet or keep it with her. She does not want to get rid of it because it did warn her of two murders.

"I cannot return to pine lake. No way. Not with a murderer on the loose." she told herself. The whispers became louder.

"You have escaped." was what the loudest whisper from her amulet said. Confused she ends her break to look for a way out of the woods. She assumes that she left the vicinity of the church. A figure of a woman in the far distance gives her some hope that she can get directions out of the woods.

It is only a novel... or, in short, only some work in which the greatest powers of the mind are displayed, in which the most thorough knowledge of human nature, the happiest delineation of its varieties, the liveliest effusions of wit and humour, are conveyed to the world in the best-chosen language
— Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
