Hi logan! Herb here to review your wonderful piece of poetry~! Let's begin.

You keep it sweet and short, and i enjoy that. I think it's very interestingly formatted. it's very structured, being opposite to the "you", warm/cold, good/bad.

you give a bitter connotation when referring to yourself while the "you" is shown in a brighter light. i think the parity is really interesting, and it's refreshing.

i think for a few nitpicks, i wish it were longer. how does hugging relate to jackets? what else are you? just warm and cold? or is there more? these are just some questions to wonder about were you to revise it.

i think it's beautiful, and brimming with oppritunity. i'll have to read more of your poetry soon.

best & sincerely

Hey Logan! I really like this poem because it's so simple! The formatting was really easy to be engaged with, which is something that I love in poetry a lot. In my opinion, from what I see, this poem is divided into two parts. Both of them start with the phrase "hugging you is like wearing a jacket" then, the first two lines are the same in both parts.

Hugging you is like wearing a jacket

You are warm

And I am cold

The last two lines in each section is where we see some variety. For example, the first part has these lines:

You are good

And I am bad

I like how simple this is. We've used words like warm and cold. And now we are using other opposites like good and bad. Sometimes when things are over simplified, it's because whoever's speaking is trying to make a really clear point, or maybe even talking to someone who doesn't seem to hear them, or understand them or listen to them. You are good, and this person who you're talking to is bad. Then we have these two other lines at the end of the second stanza:

You are everything

And I am nothing

This makes me think of people in life, who basically win by being cruel. They only continue to excel because they take advantage of others, and they don't appreciate those were sacrificing everything to help them or love them. It could be exhausting to love someone like that. I like the simplicity. This person is always warm no matter what. The more I read it, I start to think maybe these two stanzas share the perspectives of the two different people. It's really interesting to think about how they could have different thoughts and opinions towards each other, and always feeling, like the other one is worth more than they are. That could even reflect a relationship that has some kind of strain on it for people who are unable to truly connect with each other. I can see this being interpreted, so many different ways, but overall it was nice, and I liked the simplicity. Normally I would comment more and ask you to give more detail and stuff, but I feel like you probably wrote this like this on purpose. So I love that! Great job and keep writing, friend!

Your friend,
Ellie

Thank you so much! I always love seeing your reviews and comments; there's no doubt that I'll find something good in them!
I love seeing different interpretations of my poetry, and you see this differently than I do. Isn't that just so amazing? I love it.
I wrote this one simple and only edited it once (usually 3 times) so I wouldn't write in a lot of detail.
Thank you for the amazing review!!
Have a wonderful day/night!
