One Thing

I've tried playing it cool
But when I'm looking at you
I can’t ever be brave
'Cause you make my heart race

You don't even notice me, and that's okay. I've resigned myself to being your friend. It's so easy really, but at the same time it's so hard. You are right there, with your hair and your eyes and your smile, and I can feel my heart starting to beat faster by just looking at you. I want you so badly, but I don't tell you.

Shot me out of the sky
You're my kryptonite
You keep making me weak
Yeah, frozen and can't breathe

I don't have many weaknesses, but you are at the top of my list. No other person can make me a stuttering mess in less that two seconds, nor can they appear so fragile that I feel I would wrestle a lion to protect them. No other person but you steals my breath and yet is the reason I draw breath.

Something’s gotta give now
'Cause I’m dying just to make you see
That I need you here with me now
'Cause you've got that one thing

You say things that make me so mad sometimes. "Why would a person like that ever go out with someone like me?"

The real question is, "Why wouldn't they?"

So get out, get out, get out of my head
And fall into my arms instead
I don't, I don't, don't know what it is
But I need that one thing
And you've got that one thing

Your beautiful, talented, a good person. You've got everything that a person needs. But most of all, you have the one thing that matters.

Now I'm climbing the walls
But you don't notice at all
That I'm going out of my mind
All day and all night

I'm desperate to make you notice me. So desperate in fact, that everyone sees it but you. And I can't figure out what I have to do to make you realize that I'm here, and I'm more than just best friend material. Gosh, you'd think we were a romantic comedy, but right now I can't see the happy ending.

You've got that one thing
Get out, get out, get out of my head
And fall into my arms instead

I'm sick of this, so one day, when you're not looking, I turn you around and kiss you. It's warm, and wet, and totally perfect. It's everything a first kiss should be, put then you push me away and all I can do is brace for the unslaught of anger.

But you suprise me as always, by whispering, "I've been waiting for you." before yanking me in and pressing your lips to mine again. I smile, and wrap my arms around you.

So get out, get out, get out of my head
And fall into my arms instead
I don't, I don't, don't know what it is
But I need that one thing

The one and only thing I have ever wanted from you was your heart, and it turns out I always had it.

I love this short story in every single sense. I can't find very many components of this story that need to be changed or altered, as I love it just the way that it is. It captures perfectly how a person feels when caught in this sort of situation.
I don't know what sort of fanfiction this is. Could you at least include a name so that I could have a hint as to what fanbase it's from? Otherwise, there is no reason to call it a fanfiction.
Secondly, a few of the sentences aren't dynamic enough. Reread and trying to make them more so.
Finally, I hope that you have a wonderful day and I hope that you continue writing because it seems to be a gift for you! Continue the wonderful work!

I listed it under fanfiction since it's based on a something owned by someone who is not me.

That is, a song by OD.

Timmyjake here to leave you a review!

I will just hit my little nitpicks!!

At the first paragraph

I want you so badly, but I don't tell you.

Sorry, I haven't quite figured out the neat quotes. :( I think it would work better if you said, "I can't tell you."

No other person can make me a stuttering mess in less that two seconds, nor can they appear so fragile that I feel I would wrestle a lion to protect them.

This line doesn't really seem to work. For one, you talk about weakness and fragility in one part of the sentence, then you say you would wrestle lions? I think it would work better if you said that you would lay down your life for them or something. :P

This almost seems like a love note to someone you love, but doesn't seem to love you back... until the end. Some parts seem too short for me to fully grasp what you mean, for instance the third and fourth section, but with everything else it was great! Unlike Baal, I really liked this!! Keep writing!

Thank you very much. And seeing that @baal here didnt at all like it, it doen't matter to me. Just knowing that you wrote it because i requested you to made me absolutely love it. Thank you very very much. Merry xmas!

I don't mind what baal said because I know I didn't do a good job. But the point is that I tried. And I'm glad that you like it. Merry Christmas.

You must not have been inspired when writing this. It doesn't have a spark, anything to set it apart from all the myriad sappy love stories contaminating the internet. The reference to the song is unoriginal, the lyrics are actually quoted outright. That's very lazy. Something more subtle could have been done, a nod to a particular verse. I can't even call this a reinterpretation of the lyrics themselves, it's literally two paragraphs, sitting there, separated by parts of the song.

Your character is not defined, your character is not interesting. People read love stories because they want to be caught up in a breathtaking drama that will change the rest of their lives permanently for the duration of the train home. This, on the other hand, has absolutely nothing. Resignation, angst, all those 'key words' are there. I don't know anything about your character, nor, at this point, am I prompted to be curious. A little more effort could have gone into setting your character apart. Some expression, a particular way of viewing her situation, a certain thing she does, anything to make me say 'well you don't see that very often!'. Or, even if she does do exactly the same thing every friendzoned teen protagonist does, at least present it in an entertaining manner. As things are now, I just wasted five precious minutes I could have spent in a more constructive fashion, such as staring at the ceiling.

I was sort of inspired, but at the same time I wasn't. I was just stressed at the time and I needed to write something. It definitely is my worst one yet.

This is just the first draft anyway. Hopefully, with time, I can improve.
