The Sun wakes me up but I only see darkness around me,
Crawling, creeping into my flesh, my bones, my soul.
I perceive everything cold and somber,
And my poor heart starts searching for sunlight, to escape, to live.
My body feels heavy as my regretful past,
Immobilizing me with my horrible decisions.
My mind falls in a bottomless pit of sadness and guilt,
Shouting for help but no one listening.
---------------------o-----------------------
I see in the mirror a strange, grim, dismal face,
Looking, observing me, trying to smile.
I notice his dark eyes, full of dread and forlorn,
Defeated by the army of Solitude and Misery.
His appearance is weak and fragile like a crystal ball,
Living in danger of falling and shattering in million pieces.
He show me a poor grin and a sad gaze,
Slowly vanishing from the mirror.
----------------------o----------------------
I go to the kitchen, searching an object possessing dark magic,
Dreaming that is going to help me, save me from this madness.
The knife, so simple yet threatening, rest in the pit of my stomach,
Feeling his sharpness, menacing my mind and soul.
I want to push it into my body, the metal cooling my blood,
Giving me his fear and hatred, putting me to sleep.
“Do it.” A voice commands me. “Don’t.” respond another.
The two voices fight, planting a seed of doubt in my head.
-----------------------o----------------------
I drop the knife, feeling a tear rolling down my cheek,
And one of the voices tells me “Good. Your time has not come.”
Tears start flowing down my face like a river,
Letting the darkness flee from my body.
I kneel with my hands covering my visage,
Hiding my shameful countenance from the angels above.
The drops of sadness cure my vision,
Seeing beautiful colors dancing around me.
-----------------------o-----------------------
I stand up, amazed by the variety of colors,
Giving me joy and a peace of mind.
My legs started to walk with such hurry,
Searching for something that will amaze me.
When they find it, I look upon a mirror,
Noticing a face that I saw before.
His eyes were filled of happiness and laughter,
Smiling at me, giving me hope.
----------------------o--------------------------
I go outside and feel the warm sunlight,
Bathing my skin with optimism and belief.
I see the sky, beautiful and majestic,
Painted by the Divine Artist
My heart breathe, my soul sings,
My mind sleep and my body relax.
---------------------o---------------------
I close my eyes and remembered
Drowning in Depression and Sadness.
Feeling hopeless, a voice saved me,
Curing my eyes and cleansing my soul.
I open my eyes and I see,
Hope and Happiness smiling at me,
Floating away in the glorious sunset.

I really felt this deep within myself and i started to tear up cause i felt like this poem was a poem i could relate to. I loved the whole poem. It was a great poem! Thank You!
Hey!
I really related to this work even though I have never been diagnosed with depression. I've definitely felt extremely sad for pretty much a whole year. I think this work does need a little work (haha see what I did there). Try reading it out loud and adding commas where you need them. Also it seemed extremely long, so maybe try and add stanzas.
Hope I helped,
Alice
Dis is depressing, fam. Smile.
Hi.
I really loved this. In the beginning I had thought the entire poem would be about letting the sadness consume you and giving up, but then I was pleasantly surprised to see it had a happy ending.
"The Sun wakes me up but I only see darkness around me,
Crawling, creeping into my flesh, my bones, my soul.
I perceive everything cold and somber,
And my poor heart starts searching for sunlight, to escape, to live."
I liked how in this quote you embodied depression, you made the feeling of depression easily understood by people who read this. It gave the viewers not suffering from this an idea of what it would be like.
But you also gave the readers who suffer from it hope. Showing them that just as if they were a poem, they can have a happy ending as well.
Great job.
