Who is your hero?

What do you want to be?

When you look in the mirror,

What do you want to see?

I want to see a woman of grace.
Filled with love and compassion.
A woman with courage on her face,
and kindness in her heart.

I want to be someone who can handle trials
Who can get through sadness.
Someone who fights their battles
With love and devotion.

When I look, I want to see strength.
Perseverance and dedication
Will be shining upon my face.
I want to go through changes
My heart filled with faith.

These traits I wish for-
hope for, and dream for.
How can I achieve them?
Just be like the woman who taught me them.

I want to be like my mother,
The woman who shows all these traits and more.
My mother is my hero,
The one who calms my inner war.
She's been a woman of faith
throughout all her years.
A soul to admire,
One who loves and cares.

What do I want to be?
Who is my hero?
I want to be like my mother.

The closest thing on earth to my savior.

Hello this is not responsible here to review (I apologize for any errors in my review)

I love this poem. My mother is also a hero of mine. You did an excellent job on describing how awesome your mother was. i figured it out when you said, "A woman with courage on her face,
and kindness in her heart."
I cannot find wrong with this poem other than the suggestions below.
My only problem with this poem is the fact that for you did not post this on mothers day! I can still show my mother but it's not the same.
Overall it was great poem! Two thumbs Up!

Thanks! Haha I did post it on Mother's day, or maybe the day before.

Jared here with another review.

This is very nice, first of all.

Nitpicks
"My hero is my mother" should be inverted to "My mother is my hero".

"wars" should be "war"

Praise and deeper analysis
I have to say, I enjoyed this poem.

What do I want to be?
Who is my hero?
I want to be like my mother.
The closest thing on earth to my savior.

This is one part I absolutely enjoyed to read. It was very thought-provoking.

When I look, I want to see strength.
Perseverance and dedication
Will be shining upon my face.
I want to go through changes
My heart filled with faith.

This is another beautiful part. I don't have many suggestions to give out for your poem.

Very well done. Don't stop writing!

Thank you so much!!

I like this, I wish I had thought to write my mum a poem! :)

I personally think "My hero is my mother" should be reversed to 'My mother is my hero'
I also "wars" in the following line should be singular because it rhymes better. But after all it is your poem, and those are just my personal opinions.

I hope this helps some! :D

Really nice poem! I bet your mom loves it!!!
There was only one thing that wasn't quite perfect, in my opinion:

The closest thing on earth to my savior.

Deleting "on earth" sounds better, in my opinion. On the other hand, I see that you may be clarifying this so that the reader knows that God/Jesus Christ is your true savior that isn't on Earth. Maybe. I don't know. If not, I would get rid of "on earth." Of course, that's optional.
Great job! You used excellent words to describe your mother and I love that she is your hero. Keep it up! :)

Thanks! I agree with you, I was debating keeping the 'on earth.' So thanks for your opinion!! Hopefully she'll like it :)
