I ran through the forest as fast as my legs would carry me. The wind pounded in my ears keeping pace with my heart pulsing against my chest. I felt tempted to look back until a fiery cry vibrated through the trees almost knocking me off my feet. Stumbling, I kept running knowing that sooner or later I would tire and my assailant would not. It wasn’t always like this. When we first got to the island of hell we were promised the time of our lives. It started out great, before everything went wrong.
It was like the calm before the storm. We were all hanging by the pool. My little brother, Greyson, swimming with my dad. Mom was naturally trying to tan her fake-and-bake body even more than it already was. Like usual on these family outings, on a remote island with no cell service and the biggest party (that would finally get me noticed) going on back in New Orleans, in the middle of Marti Gras. I was sitting away from everyone with my headphones in, mad at my parents for dragging me halfway around the world so we could all have some “nice, quality, family fun time” Life was normal, until it wasn’t.
I heard it before I saw it. My volume cranked louder than I could stand, but the vibrating roar was twenty times louder. Everyone began to panic unaware of what lay ahead. Dad threw my brother out of the pool and scrambled out after him. Mom grabbed his hand before turning around to look for me. Everyone was scrambling for their belongings and heading toward the doors. A manager was trying to get everyone to calm down and return to their rooms in an “orderly” fashion. They just pushed past him. Mom, with Greyson and dad in tow, was rushing around calling out for me. I called back, pushing against the pool of bodies rushing every-which-way, in the attempt to get to them. I caught a glimpse of her dark skin and bleached hair, panicking to find me. I didn’t know at the moment that that was the last I would ever see my family again.
The world was running in slow motion. The fence smashing as the creature raced through it. Everyone’s mouths hanging open from screaming. Their eyes widened with fear. The creature’s foot landed in the pool, making the water fly everywhere. People started to slip as they ran, crashing into each other like falling dominoes. Many broke limbs and cried for help. No one stopped and those who did regretted it. The monster chased everything that moved, snatching people from the ground, stepping on others. At times it even bothered putting them in its mouth, snapping their bones with its teeth, practically using them as toothpicks. I raced to get to my family, but they were nowhere to be found. At times I thought I caught glimpses of them running towards the doors, only to be mistaken. Finally after what seemed like forever I headed toward the doors. The number of people outside had dwindled, I’m not entirely sure the majority made it inside. But maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing.
The beast ran towards the doors searching for all the oblivious people inside. It crashed through the walls, leaving only the broken structure. I turned and bolted for the forest, hoping that my family had made it somewhere safe. I was mistaken. As I ran I saw majority of the people from the resort lying lifeless among the ruins. As I reached the shattered fence I looked back at one last attempt to find my family, what I saw was sickening. Lifeless bodies lie everywhere in various positions, blood pouring out of them. Their faces mocked in various stages of screaming. I scanned the area looking for any signs of them. At one point I thought I saw my mom, her dark skin sticking out from the stained, white tiles. I looked away pushing the thought from my mind. They're fine, I know it, they’re out hiding waiting for me to find them. I told myself hopefully. I turned to leave, but a second too late. The monster turned toward me, blood dripping from its chin.

Fun premise, engaging narration, good description. However, there are several grammar errors, as well as parts that just felt out of place. I'll touch on those, but bear with me, I'm trying to help. This work just need touching up.
Stumbling I kept running knowing that so
Add a comma between stumbling and I, 'Stumbling, I kept'
It started out great, then came the destruction.
It started out with the calm before the storm
This sequence is repetetive, perhaps change the second 'it started out' with 'The resort was calm, however, it was the calm before the storm.'
was 'naturally' trying to tan
Get rid of the itallics in favor of single mark quotations, more professional (published fiction almost never has itallics, and a lot of publishers use it as a sign to immedietely reject a book.)
Like usual in these family outings,
Change 'in' to 'on'
headphones in, mad at my parents for dragging
Don't tell us that they're mad, even though it's from thier percpective. Tell us that she had her arms crossed, music blaring, turned away from her parents with a scowl.
Life was normal until it wasn’t.
This is a little strange, change it to 'Life was normal, but, then it wasn't'
but the vibrating roar was twenty times louder.
The 'statistic' is strange, simply put 'louder' or 'was catastrophically loud'
Everyone began to panic unaware of what lay ahead.
Perhaps 'Everyone stood, looking in confusion towards the sound, and slowly starting to panic.' They wouldn't panic all at once unless they saw the creature, and, as far as we know, they haven't.
rooms in an “orderly” fashion.
Use these ' for when someone is quoting someone else like this, 'an 'orderly' fashion'
The fence smashing as the creature raced through it.
change smashing to 'smash'
Everyone’s mouths hanging open from screaming. Their eyes widened with fear.
Change the period to a comma, and replace 'hanging' with 'hung.'
practically using them as toothpicks.
This is a weird comparison, he's eating them, so maybe say, 'crushing them like twigs' or 'their bones snapping like toothpicks in the beasts mouth'
The beast ran towards the doors searching for all the oblivious people inside.
Don't call the people inside oblivious, I'm sure if the beast is big enough, they're probably worried that it'll burst through, also, mention the beast smelling them.
As far as the main character, you did well with making them relatable. I can definetely relate with being dragged places with my family and listening to music rather than talking to them.
Oh, also, describe the 'beast' you use the term too often, and the I, the reader, would like to know what it looks like. You main character should have a basic grasp of different dinosaurs, most americans do, so have them say, at the very least, 'T-rex like' or 'Brontosaurous like', I don't know, since you gave me no description. You could even delve in deeper and say something like 'It had a large head, with teeth over six feet long and small squinty eyes. It's short arms were still long enough to reach from the ground to it's mouth, and it's two legs had it standing in a similar stance to a kangaroo. It's tail swung hap-hazardly, destroying trees and knocking over running fingers-' etc. Oh, and by the way, no one knows what color dinosaurs were, so you could even have it hot pink for comedic value.
Oh, and in the end, when you have the main characters thoughts in italics, make it normal. As previously stated, you simply shouldn't use it, and, I promise, your reader will be smart enough to know it's a thought, especially since you said so in the previous sentence.
By the way, I love the description you do have, it's interesting and enough without being too much (with the exception of the dinosaur)
I just had a thought, maybe you didn't describe the 'beast' cause the reader and main character don't know it's a dinosaur yet. It's called dinosaur island, so the readers know, even if it hasn't dawned on the main character, so you don't need to mask.
By the, I loved the bit of foreshadowing you had, 'little did I know that was the last time I'd see my family.' nice touch.
Keep writing!!

Thank you for your feedback I will take everything you said under consideration and fix things.
Good story! the ONLY thing that I have to comment about it is that near the end in the sentence "Their fine, I know it, they’re out hiding waiting for me to find them," The first time you say "Their," it is supposed to say "They're" like you did the second time.
Oops thought I fixed that lol
So did I miss it, or did you not say when the beast came from? It was a really good story, definitely ny kind of thriller, look forward too your next chapters and where you will take the story. Would love to know when you publish the next chapter too, this is definitely the best thriller story I have read in a while. Not many real life thriller stories on here. Most are futuristic or in another reality. Too few modern-day monster novels.
Glad to hear it. I haven't specified where the beast came from yet, but I will in later chapters.
It will obviously be a carnivor dino, I'm curious just how many kinds you plan to use. But I'm sure that will be specified as the story goes on.
It will I'm still figuring out how many types I will use probably from all different era's too
That's a good idea, most assume the most deadly was a t rex, or something. But it actually was neither. Also the original 3 Jurassic park movies showed only about 10% of dinosaurs that existed. The most deadly herbivore was the one with a huge spikey hide, I believe it was shown in a stampede in the first or third of those movies. The deadliest carnivore was a spineasaurus (not sure how it's spelled) pretty sure it only appeared in the lost world, and was never used in any other movie or tv show. Hope that helps.

it does thank you
Happy to help then, I was a bit of a dinosaur nut once.
Sorry about the double post it's an annoying little glitch.
