In Footies We Are All Made Equal

The clothes a person wears says a lot about them.

Some people dress to be noticed. Others dress to blend in. Many of us ladies dress to look thinner. (I personally avoid stripes like the plague). We are judged based off our clothes so often, which in truth isn't who we really are. At least, I hope I am not what I wear (AKA, shabby and old). Truth or not, with a single look, we perceive a person to be something. Whether that be hip or weird. Clean or sloppy. A fuddy-duddy, a nerd, or a lazy bum. The sad fact is people get slapped with label and, more often than not, we label-slap-ers get it wrong. So how can we stop making these misguided snap-judgements?

The answer lies in a single word: footies.

When a person steps into footed nightwear, all becomes equal. So what if you're fat? With the zipper of these P.J.'s zips up under your chin, no one can see those rolls and bulges. You and that crazy skinny chick both look the same in your comfy sleepers. Not to mention the fact that you would never have to go searching for socks again. Today I spent a good ten minutes digging through a mound of laundry looking for socks. Imagine if I had been wearing footies. I would have ten extra minutes to spend however I wanted. In the amount of time I have spent looking for clean socks in my twenty one years I probably could have learned a language.

Let's stop judging people. With footies we can clothe the needy in one piece of clothing, even bring world peace.

The possibilities footies hold are endless.

Plus, they are really comfortable.

I laughed.
It was cute.
Not hilarious.
But funny.
I appreciate these thoughts.
You have a comical voice, and I agree with someone else that said it could be more concise. This is something that is funny, but it does not need any fluff. Just let it be funny.

Funny cannot be forced it must be allowed to flow free, and I believe you have the potential to do that.

You are a talented writer, that much is obvious.

I bid you good luck on all your future endeavors!

The clothes a person wears says a lot about them.

Some people dress to be noticed. Others dress to blend in. Many of us ladies dress to look thinner. (I personally avoid stripes like the plague [I'd substitute the cliche with a more direct phrase]). We are judged based off our clothes so often, which in truth isn't who we really are. [Awkward sentence. Perhaps consider shifting the "so often" to the front of the sentence] At least, I hope I am not what I wear (AKA, shabby [rarely are people described as shabby. I'd choose another adjective that can be used to describe people] and old). Truth or not, with a single look, we perceive a person to be something. [This sentence is repetitive with the "We are judged based off our clothes so often, which in truth isn't who we really are." above] Whether that be hip or weird. Clean or sloppy. A fuddy-duddy, a nerd, or a lazy bum. [Connect to previous sentence (if you decide to keep it) with commas and semicolons] The sad fact is people get slapped with label and, more often than not, we label-slap-ers get it wrong. So how can we stop making these misguided snap-judgements? ["judgments"]

The possibilities footies hold are endless. [Combine this with the previous sentence]

Plus, they are really comfortable.

This was indeed quite funny, but could be more concise.

Hello there! cleverclogs here for a Review Day review!

This is funny to me not because of the notion that footies make us equal, but because of how you presented the issue at the beginning of the piece. It made me think that this would be another pro-body inspiration essay, and then...

'Footies'.

The mood whiplash just struck me as funny. Not loudly funny, but subtly funny, which makes it all the better. I think that you could use this to your advantage and make the mood change even more pronounced. You could start the piece with a very serious tone, and carry on using the tone. It's like the literary equivalent of deadpan joke-telling, and it's very amusing. You can achieve a serious tone by removing informal things like "so what" and "not to mention".

I found two typos:

Lets stop judging people.

"Lets" should have an apostrophe, making it "let's".

Plus, they are really comfortable

There needs to be a period at the end of this.

There's also one sentence that I kind of have a grammar problem with:

The answer lies in a single word...'Footies'.

The ellipses and the single quotes around "footies" are unnecessary and a bit sloppy-looking. I'd recommend changing the sentence to this:

The answer lies in a single word: Footies.

Much better, no? :)

Other than that, the grammar was all sound.

I'd also like to say that a fat person and a skinny person may look the same in a footie, until you get a side view (and I say this as a fat person). XD

I love the attitude and humor of this piece. It's very refreshing and amusing. Keep up the good work!

Dear Dragongirl,

I love this short story. It's funny and practical. Honestly if footie pajamas were socially accepted as everyday wear, you'd probably never see me wearing anything else. As far as I can tell there are no real grammar mistakes and truthfully there isn't much else you could add or subtract to this to make it better. It's perfect in all it's footie glory. Well the only thing I could see is the ending. If you switched the last two lines and take out "plus" I think it would make it a more serious humor (which personally I am more of a fan of). But this is your story so don't feel the need to take my advice.

I do enjoy the title. It's that serious humor again. Overall this is great, and as always keep writing.

When I can't find a matching pair of socks, I wear different socks on each foot. I should get myself a pair of footy pajamas.
