Reality's Dagger

PreviousNext
Out in the distance,
what do you see?
Out in the distance,
can you imagine what it would be?

Rolling hills,
and far off plains.
Towering mountains,
and a moon that wanes.

Do you wish to go?
and see it with your eyes?
Or do you stay,
and save the surprise.

The land will remain,
as you imagine it to be.
It will remain because reality,
makes your knees stagger.
Reality, is a razor sharp dagger.

So before you wish to be there,
hold the imaginary picture to you heart, with care.
For reality will snatch it away,
before if you go astray.

I love the imagery of the second stanza. The first few stanzas are very fairytail-like. It's so romantic. And I like the way the last two stanzas are so cynical. It's worded really nicely.

The last stanza seems a little off. The last rhyme seems a little forced. I feel like you could have done must better if it didn't seem so last-resort or slipshod.

I changed the last stanza. Is it better?
