Okay, YWS needs a mascot. I've already settled on a name - Squill - but not a body. Teddy bear? Dragon? Horse? Baseball cap? Toothbrush? Throat lozenge? Vote!
"He yanked himself free and fled to the kitchen where something huddled against the flooded windowpanes. It sighed and wept and tapped continually, and suddenly he was outside, staring in, the rain beating, the wind chilling him, and all the candle darkness inside lost."
"The mark of your ignorance is the depth of your belief in injustice and tragedy. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls the butterfly." ~ Richard Bach
Siempre, siempre: jardin de mi agonia, tu cuerpo fugitivo para siempre, la sangre de tus venas en mi boca, tu boca ya sin luz para mi muerte. -From 'Del amor imprevisto', Federico Garcia Lorca
I love horses, they move so elegantly and riding them is so much fun. I think a horse should be the YWS mascot because they can be symbolic of the way you write. Learning to write is a lot like learning to ride, you start off and slowly become better until you can be in full control of your horse, cantering along easily, jumping over obstacles or guiding him through the intricate moves of dressage. Its like that when you improve your wrting you know which words would benefit your writing and how to make them fit together to make your piece the best you can. Overcoming obstacles in your writing is like jumping your horse, it looks intimidating at first but if you think about the best way to approach it and have the courage to carry it through, then soon you'll be flying.
Ok, that was random but as you can see I really want a horse to become the mascot. But a teddy bear would be cute too.
