Yep, I participated in the Writing Olympics as a member of the Jamaican Bobsled Writing Team. I was in every single event (came in 3rd for the 5th event, and 2nd for the 9th), and I definitely had fun; at least, I had the energy to write multiple short stories and poems over the space of a few days, which is cool.
I did a bunch of events and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. My biggest blunder is I wrote a Character Profile for that event - but I forgot to send it in (I thought I had) so it wasn't entered! :/ It was fun racing against the clock to write different works than I'm used to writing (like limericks and modified haikais). I also did the picture prompt, scavenger hunt, and emotional short story, and six word story events. Thanks to all the people who put on the events and judged - it was ran really smoothly and was a blast to participate in!
you should know i am a time traveler & there is no season as achingly temporary as now
Although I did participate, why isn't there a "no" answer that doesn't imply that you wished you had participated? I'm sure some people just didn't want to.
Und so lang du das nicht hast Dieses: Stirb und Werde! Bist du nur ein trüber Gast Auf der dunklen Erde
(And as long as you don't have This: Die and become! You are only a gloomy guest On the dark Earth)
Unfortunately, I was otherwise detained battling a minotaur for my latest school assignment, and while the minotaur is now in a small package being shipped to Antarctica, my regret for notparticipating is too fragile an object to ship anywhere. (Boo, who cares about deadlines? D:)
I wasn't able to compete in it, but I did stop by and check out how people were doing. Those structure poems amazed me (that type of poetry always does)!
Well, chances are YWS will never get rid of me, so I'll try competing in 2020!
