She opened the door for her.

Ky shuffled inside, glancing around again to be sure the room was still empty.

It was definitely empty; despite the extravagant bed and furniture it was a compact little room with a narrow window and several candles scattered around. There wasn't much room for a ghost to hide.

Ky pulled the bone out and looked down at it.

It was small and uncomplicated, two finger joints of a pine marten carved with tiny runes. There was no hole for a string but the part where the joints met was narrower than the rest.
