“It’s even more dangerous to be bad at it,” she pointed out.
Ky nodded, glancing towards the door. She desperately didn’t want to leave. But she couldn’t very well ask her aunt to fetch things for her. “Sounds good.” She stepped towards the door.

She looked around, then headed for her and Gaius's room.

Jerica shrugged. “I dunno. I’m just teaching him how to read and fight and stuff. It’s not a big deal.”
Ky followed quickly after her, praying to any god that may be awake that she didn’t run into D’Ara or Narfi or Septimus or Michael.”

Narfi wasn't present. There were a couple spirits milling about on this floor but they paid them no attention.

Septimus came striding around the corner at a brisk pace. Upon seeing Ky he opened his mouth to speak, but Sara stepped right through him and he stopped short, a bewildered look on his face.

“He…” she grimaced. “It’s a long story. But… well… he was gonna be arrested.. and I didn’t know how to stop it.. so I told the soldier he couldn’t arrest him because he was my squire. And then I had to kind of just go with it.”
Ky recoiled, staring at him with wide eyes for a moment. Oh gods this was bad. She ducked her head.

Rickard felt ill. He looked away, not saying anything.
Septimus stared between her and Sara, a muscle twitching in his cheek. He removed his glasses, inhaled, and gave Ky an even look. "I have something I need to discuss with you," he said coolly, "when you are at liberty to do so." Sara stopped walking, turning to check on Ky.

Jerica felt bad. “I mean I didn’t let him help with the war, obviously. I just make him polish my armor and read and stuff.”
Ky stiffened, remembering that she was annoyed with him for telling Michael immediately about her. And emboldened by her rune. But also she didn’t know what to do about Sara. She looked at Septimus with an sour expression. “Mm.”
She had words for him, too.
