Jerica hesitated. There it was. The reminder that Rickard was a better person than she’d ever be, and he didn’t even mean to be giving it. She was callous. Bloodthirsty. Maybe Them was right about her. She grimaced and inclined her head. “Fair enough.”

Jerica nodded, actively forcing herself to swallow the anger that bubbled up in her and not let it show. “I’m sorry they put you through that. It’s not even a little bit okay.”
Ky nodded reluctantly, biting back a sigh. “Yes. I’ll be there.” No promises that she’d stay the whole time. But she’d come at least.

“And for that I’m glad.” Jerica nodded. But she wasn’t a believer in the whole all’s well that ends well mentality. She was about justice. Righting wrongs. She wondered if she’d be able to piece together who the slavers were and hunt down whatever ones survived the spiders. She’d do much worse.
“I will.” Ky nodded, trying once again for a smile and once again failing. Then she turned and headed down the stairs towards the library. Time to get this out of the way, she guessed.

Septimus was pacing near where they'd first met, taking his glasses off periodically and scrubbing at the lenses with his doublet.

“I don’t know.” She shrugged. “Probably a while… but I think I’m in trouble so I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to wander around.” Technically she wasn’t supposed to be here now. But. Whatever.
Ky had to take several moments to brace herself outside of the library door before she found the guts to go inside. When she did she forced herself to square her shoulders, even though she somehow seemed tiny and insecure despite it, and went to where she’d found him the first time.
