Maahes looked down at the staff, and then back up at Darian. "I don't really know how to do that," he nervously admitted. "I haven't met anyone who could do that in my travels, actually. I'm just a spirit. The most I can do is change my form and the occasional magical spell - if that's the right word? Like I can create an explosion like I did with the minotaur, or create something that makes it so only you and I hear our conversation."
Darian's eyebrows flew up instantly as he lowered his staff.
"Are...are we doing that now?"
Heads shaking around him told him otherwise. He hummed into his palm and tried to devise a new plan. "We do have the cavern illuminated for however long the spell may last. Perhaps we should go as a group so as not to endanger an individual or one another?" He shook his head. "All the same, Maahes, I'd prefer you to lead. Or at least someone who is...not me."
He had to admit to himself, at least, that he was fearful of the creatures in this cavern. He could heal wounds with little effort in the right mind, but what good would he be if unconscious or dead? Or if having to heal himself again? He looked at the others. "How about it, adventurers?"

"I'd be happy to lead," Maahes quickly spoke up before anyone could object. He was done with losing people. If he had some way to prevent an outcome like that, he'd eagerly take it.
"I'm okay with doing that," Leon said, replying to Darian's question.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
"Then let's go," Maahes said. Leading the group had been a strange, worrying notion at first, but he was already settling back into the role of a leader. It had been two years since he had been in charge. Despite not knowing what they were up against, he felt a surge of confidence as he started walking further into the cavern.
She grabs her sword, following behind the rest in silence.

Darian, among the others, had begun to wonder how he would be of use as a druidic priest if a journey through caverns went awry. He could already sense more hostile creatures off their chosen path, stirred by the luminous ivy. "Maahes," he called under his breath, "I have means of putting the beasts to sleep before we may be found out." He shook his head as the others looked back at him. "But it would require all haste of us to find an exit as the spell is temporary on such a scale as the blessed Ivy would make it."

Maahes thought for a moment. It sounded like a good idea, but there was a drawback - he knew that there were threats outside the cavern as well. If they were going to survive the night, they would have to determine what the best option was.
"So you would use it as a last resort?" he concluded.
Darian nodded. "As long as there is mana sufficient remaining in my spirit, I shall not fail."
A voice came upon his mind. And how much mana spendeth ye upon illumination?
Darian cast his head low, motioned to the one with the saber. "As we progress through this labyrinthine cavern, I wish for you to untether the ivy before us from the ivy behind. Elsewise there may be no joyous ending to our adventurers' tale." With that, Darian began to move on by Maahes' side.

He admittedly didn't understand what Darian was talking about, but he kept moving farther back in the cavern. He waited for another threat to appear. A Detonation was constantly about to come to life at his fingertips, but never did so. Letting one off without a good reason to would be a bad idea. "Does anyone else have any special skills?" he asked, briefly glancing back at the group. It would be good to know in case things turned ugly. "They don't need to be magical."
I'm sure there is, @rebelpilot! If you just read through everything, you can write up a post to explain where your character went or why they've been so silent the entire time. I'm guessing the first one might work better? But it's all up to you!
