I sigh, once again questioning why I endure this torture, and feel bad for the guy blamed for it. Yawning, I lean my head on my arm and flip the page of my notebook. Instead of randomly doodling or writing from memory, I jot down the proceedings of my last vision. Alex asked about it anyway. I'd rather not say it aloud. At the very bottom, I end up sketching a face, one of a girl so familiar yet so foreign all the same. I cover the picture up and shrug off the reminders of dreams, focusing on the teacher's lecture instead.

Toning down, I take a deep breath and ywan once again. The bell rings after a while and I stand, grabbing my book as I start to walk out, someone hugs me from behind and I turn around to see Jake. Finally. I shrug his arms off from around me and shake my head, "You told me you would text me."

He sighs, "I'm sorry, I got carried up. It's not a big deal..."

"My first freaking year in highchool and it's a Sophmore year, and...It's not a big deal?" I raise an eyebrow.

"No! That's not what I meant, Faith. Just--" I cut him off.

"I gotta go to history," I tell him before walking off.

I can't help but overhear the argument, heading to History. I slip in the back of the classroom as usual and take out my notebook as the girl arrives. When she sits, I look at her, slightly confused.

"You skipped ninth grade?" I ask. That's horrible. Of all grades to skip, I'd die before skipping ninth.

The guy asks me a question once I sit down and I sigh, "I skipped my freshman year and junior. They think I'm too smart or something..." I shrug, opening my book as I moan. I really don't want to do this.

I think, "So are you a sophomore or a senior?"

As I ask it, the bell rings and a new face enters late. The teacher looks over a purple piece of paper in her hands, a sign of her being new, before excusing her and reminding her not to be late again. She's assigned to the other side of me and I find I stopped breathing. Regaining my senses, I look down and peek in my notebook at the page with the sketch. Holy sh*t... It's real.

The bell rings and I pass him a note instead, studying the new face before sighing.

Sophomore. You?

I glance down at the note and come out of my shock, jotting down that I'm the same, though I technically could have graduated already. The teacher begins passing out the test and I slip the note back to the girl, glancing at the one beside me. She asks if I have a pencil, the teacher asking her to take the test just to see what she knows, and I nod before handing her one. I find that I have no words, which is odd for me, and feel like hitting my head against the wall for how I'm acting.

I nod and jolt down my name, asking him his before passing it back. I get the test and sigh, taking a pencil and then starting.

I jot down my name and drop it on the floor beside her foot, not wanting to get in trouble for what appears to be cheating. I focus on the test and finish within minutes, a note from the other girl slipping into my lap. Opening it, I read her question of whether we'd met before and feel my heart almost stop at her name. Nope, but I wish we had. That'd at least make this easier to be called sane... I respond with a maybe and jot my name down, erasing a few answers on my test to lower the grade a bit as I pass it back.

I finish quickly and flip it over on my desk, picking up the note and reading it. I nod and sigh, yawning as I slip it into my pocket. I raise my hand and flash a smile at the teacher, "Can I go to the..."

I see Jake outside by the window, trying to get me to come out and I finish, "Bathroom?"

He nods and I stand, a perv staring at my a*s as I exit. Ew.

Jake looks at me, plead in his eyes, "I'm sorry Fa."

I cross my arms, waiting for more.

I flip my test over and sit back, sighing as I cross my arms. The girl beside me - Lis was her name - passes a note again and I flash a smile when reading it.

Can we be friends?

I jot down a yes and return it to her, my day slightly better now.

I come back in once we're done talking and plop down again, taking my head in my hands and putting my head down.

The bell rings a short time later and I turn in my test, walking out with Lis and hesitating before asking if Faith wanted to join us, since lunch was next.

I nod at Jason and stand, yawning as I pass Jake. His arms are crossed, and he's leaned against the wall reading a book. I sigh and just face forward, tired.

I walk with the two to the cafeteria and sit down with my lunch at a table near the back. I mentally swear when Alex shows up, sitting next to me, and when I notice he's hyper.

"This is my brother," i introduce, "Alex."

It is only a novel... or, in short, only some work in which the greatest powers of the mind are displayed, in which the most thorough knowledge of human nature, the happiest delineation of its varieties, the liveliest effusions of wit and humour, are conveyed to the world in the best-chosen language
— Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
