April 10th

you were everywhere -
blue skies,
pretty clouds,
floating stars.
yet somehow,
I could never find you
home
(you forgot me
like old letters
stuffed in your drawers)

April 11th

He threw away his coloured pencils
and ripped his drawings into pieces,
burying the dreamer in him
into the deepest part of his heart
where the stars couldn’t shine.

The moon missed his stories,
and soon his heart forgot how to beat,
weary from the emptiness
that caged around his bones.

he slowly faded into the night.

April 12th

red lips and powdered cheeks.
an elegant jade dress
flowing like a stream
to gently caress the floor.
painted with the sun and smiles,
she entered the room
to find him dancing with another girl

April 13th

he tucked their memories
in between book pages,
in bottles cast out to oceans,
in nightstand drawers and kitchen cabinets,
music boxes and trash cans,
and corners of the universe,
trying to wipe his heart clean of her

April 14th

her hands were messy
with hundreds of paints and shades
by trying so desperately to colour herself
into something she wasn't -
by trying so desperately to hide
every single piece of her
that was ugly and dark and gray

April 15th

like a black hole,
your gravity is suffocating
and i can’t escape your grip -
you rip out the suns in my heart
and the stars that make up my constellation
(yet you still remain so empty)

Wow, your poem today is so heartwrenching! The images are immensely visceral, and I enjoy the galactic aspects too. I really love the line: "you rip out the suns in my heart" <- unique heart imagery which is sometimes hard to find.

April 16th

one by one,
he put back the stars
in her constellation
together
and as he watched the dark
light up with her beauty
he had his closure
(and let her go)

April 17th

my hands shook
as i wrote the letter -
nothing is harder than
saying goodbye to you.
nothing is harder than
saying goodbye to myself.

April 18th

you kissed me goodnight
and told me you'd see me in the morning -
as i was walking away
i couldn't help but let the tears fall
because i knew i wasn't coming back -
that would be the last time
you'd ever see my face

April 19th

you handed me your burdens
and promised me you'd be back
to take them away from me

i still wait
in the shadows

Loving the celestial / dark vs light imagery! I especially am a huge fan of April 16th - I just love a good love/heart-break poem, and it's imagery and metaphor are succinct and striking. Keep up the great work! You may have hopped in late, but you're getting in a lot of nice poetry!
maybe i make up colors for poetic cadence, but i don't think i can ever love someone who doesn't understand that teal is a different color than dark cyan

four beautiful eyes
three dirty looks
two painful goodbyes
one wilted rose
