"Yeah." Raina forced her legs into motion again, this time going at a more sustainable pace. Ugh, she'd never expected she'd have to run through a forest trying to escape a bunch of rowdy soldiers... still, she should've trained herself in running.
Neptune followed after her, breath still that sharp wheeze. “I’m sorry, but I have no idea where we’re going.”
If Rain expected Neptune to lead her anyway, then that could be quite the problem. Their best bet right now was to touch as many trees as they could and hope Lin and Artemis decided to look for Neptune.

"Away," Raina huffed. "Anywhere, as long as we lose... huff... those soldiers." Raina glanced backwards, but all she saw was trees and dirt. She suspected the soldiers were searching for them, however, and she also suspected Neptune and her running had left some tracks.
Neptune nodded. “I have friends who can find us no matter where we go. As long as we don’t travel through water.”
Neptune paused. Rain didn’t seem to know much about any species, so maybe she wouldn’t understand. “Do you know what an igni is?”

Raina gritted her teeth. It pained her to admit there were things she didn't know, but... "Nope." She leaped over a tree root, barely managing to regain her balance.
“Oh. You must be from a very strange place, then.” Neptune brushed her? fingers across a tree branch. “Igni are another species here on Earth. Once the sun sets, they turn into some sort of beast. But, during the day, they still have the senses of a beast.

"I'm from the United States. Which, admittedly, is a strange place sometimes." Raina frowned. "You were talking about this being in the past before... and now these igni... perhaps this really is some sort of alternate Earth." She shook her head. "But that doesn't matter right now. How soon can your friends find us?"
Neptune sighed. “That depends on when Saturn started suspecting something was wrong. Which couldn’t have been more than an hour. And now it all depends on how deep in the forest we are.”

"Great," Raina huffed. "Can we find a hiding spot and wait there, then?" She jogged for another moment, then added, "Or if you know which general direction the Mist is in, we could head there."
Neptune hummed. “I don’t know where we are. General directions won’t help us. But hiding should work.”
They stopped jogging, swaying to the side for just a moment before catching themself on their cane. Oh, they was working fine right now. Maybe that it was it.

Raina stopped as well, gulping in air in relief. When she could walk again, she started roaming the area around them. "Would a hollow tree work?" Raina mused. "Or should we look for a cave? But caves tend to have creatures living in them... What do you think?" She turned to Neptune.
Neptune sighed. “There aren’t many things left living in the woods, I’m afraid. The British saw to that. So, a cave or den should work.”
Neptune strained their ears again. “Anywhere the guards will have trouble finding.”

"Alright." Raina brushed some branches back, searching for a hiding place. "There seems to be a rock outcropping in that direction. To your right." Raina peered through the trees at a pile of boulders. "Hmm. Perhaps it's too obvious."
Neptune shrugged. “I wouldn’t know. The sun’s setting, though, so soon it’ll be quite dark out here.”

Raina took a deep breath. "The rocks it is, then. Follow my voice."
