At this time, I do not know why the site went down. I've hardly been around YWS for a good month now, and certainly have not done anything besides ban a couple people in that timeframe.

What I think is going on is a combination of high user activity and increased numbers of hacking attempts. In the case of that latter, rest assured that nothing ever gets through (it literally can't get through as all the important stuff has access restricted by IP address). But, hacking attempts take up bandwidth. Combine that with high user activity, and the server couldn't handle it.

In the future, the backup site is almost always available:

Oh dear! Hacking attempts?! This site is too cool to even think about hacking.

The backup site definitely came in handy ;).

I thought it was just my computer acting up, but then I texted Teague and we thought you were installing the new YWS without warning us beforehand.

Thank goodness.

I logged in after the website came back up, but no one was on.

So will the upgraded version have that problem fixed?

I thought it was my computer too. Everyone on the back-up site thought you were upgrading the site.

Whew. At least things are safe.

Glad it's back!

Common sense should have told you that I would have given everyone a heads-up. The upgrade isn't happening without sufficient warning (in the past, I've always said at least a week's warning).

Websites must be a hassle. I can barely get my cellphone to function right half the time. It's good thing it's back, as many people love this site, and I can't wait until the new YWS does come around.
How am I not myself?

Because YWS has access to the launch codes.

"So what've you been up to, Nate?"
"Oh, nothing much, really. Banned a couple people, so now we have a couple crazed, twitchy people suffering from YWS Withdrawal Syndrome, so murder attempts are likely to go up a bit, but not much else. After all, what's a couple more madmen in the world, eh?"
