Well, I've been writing slightly comedic poems about very serious subjects for the past few months. I've tried coming up with music to go along with them, but I got nothing.
Do musicians write the music first, or the lyrics?
"Can't break an omelette without making a few eggs"
^ That's not always the case. For a lot of musicals, for instance, lyrics might be written first and the music is left to whoever produces the musical, or written separately.
If you want to write lyrics and have them put to music you just have to find someone else who works in the same way and get them to do the music.
For me, I write the music first and then write the lyrics.
Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.
