An Old Fashioned Christmas Contest

True, and all I can think of for that premise to fit with this contest would be if you added in "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear," "Silent Night," or "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" into that somehow, and I definitely don't want to see it hashed. So, no pressure.

You must incorporate at least one line from the song into your story at some point, which means no tacking the lyrics onto the front. (You can, but I won’t count it as being part of the story.)

Would you mind if I wrote it like

(Line of music)

(Paragraph about the line, like the storied version of those lines)

And so on.

This sounds great! I'm sick with a cold right now and stuck at home, anyway, so I should be able to whip up a first draft pretty quickly. God, I LOVE Christmas. Officially subscribed!

@TheMessenger, that's fine. I just don't want to see a paragraph of pasted text at the beginning that has relatively little to do with the piece itself. That aside, it looks like an interesting idea.

I just finished my first draft. It's not that good but it has potential. It was fun writing. I haven't written a Christmas story in ages…

Hmm, I see. My advice? Write as fast as you possibly can. That's usually my best stuff anyway. Can't wait to see what you turn out.

In the picture of the three kids amd a dog on a sleigh it looks like the kid in the middle is choking the dog. Anywho, I think I will give this a shot.
