The Commander strode into the Great Hall with a tremendous clatter, nearly tripping over a stack of half-polished helmets and one very suspicious pile of feathers that certainly had not been there the day before. “Fellow knights, squires, fighters, riders, and all noble defenders of the Green Room! Huzzah! I hear we have business most grand to attend to today, and I shall not be delayed by rogue goose feathers or improperly stacked armor!”
A few members of the KotGR Court hurriedly attempted to sweep the feathers beneath a nearby bench while The Commander unrolled a shining scroll with a flourish.
“First, step forward, Knight Chi (@cocteau)! Your ventures have been mighty indeed, and your armory grows more fearsome by the day. For your noble reviewing deeds, you are hereby awarded a sword, a shield, a helmet, and a horse fit for one who battles bravely in the wilds of the Green Room!” The Court bustled forward, nearly dropping the shield twice before managing to present the gleaming equipment with only a modest amount of clanging. "Huzzah for Knight Chi and his new noble steed, Horse!”
The Great Hall erupted into cheers, and somewhere near the stables a horse gave a proud whinny, as if fully aware it had just been entered into official KotGR history. The Commander then turned toward the line of hopeful fighters and smiled warmly. “Ah! New pledges comes before us. Step forward, @BrownMatter and @FarDusk! You have pledged yourselves to the path of knighthood, and that is no small oath within these halls. The Green Room is treacherous, the monsters are many, and the paperwork is somehow worse, but your courage is already noted.” They gestured grandly to the Court.
“By your pledge and promise, you are both hereby recognized as Squires of the Knights of the Green Room! Take up your training, sharpen your training knives, and return to us with 10 Green Room deeds worthy of knighthood. We shall eagerly await the day you stand before us once more to be fully knighted. Huzzah!”
Knight @alliyah, Court Magician hurried forward with the standard supplies, looking only slightly overwhelmed by the rapidly growing number of weapons being handed out. “And now, another decorated knight come before us! Knight Alex (@AlexWrites), step forward!”
The Commander studied the scroll with an approving nod. “Your accomplishments are many and worthy of great celebration. By your efforts, you have earned a shield and helmet to guard you in future battles, and a village to watch over and protect. May its villagers be loyal, its crops be plentiful, and its taverns always well-stocked for weary reviewers returning from the Green Room” A cheer rose from the gathered knights as the village deed was presented with suitable ceremony and only one ink smudge.
“But wait! There is more still. Knight Alex has also earned a horse for the KotGR stables! May your steed serve you faithfully in every noble ride, every daring charge, and every extremely dramatic entrance into the Great Hall. Have you considered a name yet?”
A knight from the stables rushed in with a saddle, bowed, and rushed back out again before anyone could ask why there was hay stuck to their helmet. At last, The Commander turned to the final figure awaiting recognition, their expression bright with pride. “And now, good people of the Great Hall, prepare yourselves for a most excellent declaration. Step forward, Squire @candyhearts!”
The hall quieted, though several knights continued whispering excitedly behind their shields. “You have fought with bravery, reviewed with honour, and proven yourself worthy of full standing among our order. By the power entrusted to me and the ancient traditions of the Knights of the Green Room, I hereby declare you a Knight!”
The hall burst into a roar of celebration as The Commander lifted a shining sword for all to see. “Take up this sword, Knight Candyhearts, and may it strike boldly against every beast lurking in the Green Room. May your future ventures be bright, your poetic victories many, and your name recorded proudly among our order!”
Swords banged against shields, boots stomped against stone, and The Commander raised both hands for one final cheer. “Let every knight, squire, rider, and noble friend of the Green Room go forth with renewed courage! We celebrate Knight Chi, Squire BrownMatter, Squire FarDusk, Knight Alex, and Knight Candyhearts this day. Huzzah! Huzzah! And happy reviewing!”
