Alice.
It all felt like too much. First she had been minding her own business exploring rooms with Mark when the noises started. They were terrible noises, screams and the howls of the wind. Mark grabbed her arm and they sprinted from the room.
They came across the others surrounded by cans of soda, the contents spilled all over the floor and each other. It looked as though they were having fun at first but now they sat with solemn expressions. One girl Alice couldn't remember the name of held a note tightly in her hand as she starred at the floor.
"What's going on?" Mark asked. Nobody responded. Then did Alice notice the broken window. She shivered, trying to ignore the scene outside.
Everyone sat in silence until the girl read the note to Alice and Mark.
"There are one too many survivors. One of you does not belong. One will die within twentyfour hours or else one will be chosen for you."
The words felt like a knife on Alice's heart.
Somebody's going to die? she thought. She sat and joined the others in their silence. Mark joined her, obviously shaken by the news, too.
Why was the world becoming so chaotic?
