I know I was going to be the Navigator but Laminated wants to be it so I can easily make Tommy the Gunner again- if that is alright. I don't NEED to be the navigator, and I don't want to start a fight. :3

Name: Thomas (Tommy) Edward Harper
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Ship: Llorona
Position on board: Gunner

Appearance: Tall, dark and handsome- Tommy fits this description very well. He is tall and leanly muscled from his hard life at sea. He's darkly tanned and has a good number of scars over his body from fights and just shipboard accidents. His hair is a dark brown- nothing special and he wears is cropped short. His eyes are large and a deep brown- the soft kind of brown. His features are refined and some might even call them delicate but Tommy is as hardy as any man. Tommy has a tattoo on his left forearm of a Koi fish he got when he was in the far east.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: Tommy would be best described as the boy next door. His steady level headed temperament saved him from the corruption most young men would find in a life of piracy. Not that he is a saint, he's sowed his wild oats like any lad- bedded one or two tavern maids, got his nose broken in bar fights- but for all that he's a decent lad. The sort a lad a girls dad would trust to have his daughter back by ten. Tommy is steady, he's about as bomb proof as a body can be, unphased by most things and easily adaptable to new situations.

Weaknesses: Tommy is ungodly proud, he refuses to ask for help for personal troubles and doesn't show his weaknesses, this can be dangerous as he refuses to take breaks even when hurt or sick. He'd rather collapse then admit he needs help. Tommy has a phobia of spiders and his shipboard friends enjoy tormenting him with the eight legged terrors.

Strengths: Tommy is steady and unflappable. He's highly intelligent able to grasp new ideas, plans, and skills with speed. Tommy has more education then the common seamen. He has a good sense of humor and is good natured- a skill that makes him easily likeable and he is well liked in his crew- at least by most of them. Tommy is a dead shot- give him a target and something to throw at it and no matter the distance he will hit it. He is rumored to be able with- the cannons on the ship- to shoot the wings off a Seagull at midnight.

History: Tommy was the son of a innkeeper and his wife. He had a younger sister Imogen who was five years his junior. His parents wanted him to be a respectable tradesmen and pressured him into a apprenticeship. Tommy chose a chart-maker, he loved to draw and loved maps so it seemed the best choice. But the old man who was his master was a jaded old fart who hated the young cheerful boy and made Tommy's life a living hell. He begged his parents to end the apprentice ship- but they refused. They really wanted him to be successful, and they saw a trade as the way to do it.

So the years went by and Tommy slowly became more and more discontented, more depressed in his life. And it all came to a head the day after his 15 birthday when he and his father got into a huge fight once again about the apprenticeship. Tommy was fed up and done with being tied down to a life he didn't want, and that night instead of going back to the Chart Makers shop, he went to the docks and talked his way into being hired on.

He worked his way from the north to the Caribbean and once there he realized running away wasn't easy. It wasn't romantic and it wasn't how it was in the storybooks. It was hard, it was horrible and he was close to starving. He found work on a trader that was of Spaniard origin and on the way back they run aground on a hidden reef. The ship was wrecked and the crew stranded for weeks- their captain had taken a little used route. The Llorona sailed the same route weeks after the original wreck, and by this time most of the crew was dead, or close to it- including Tommy.

The Pirate ship anchored and sent a longboat over to pick the remains of the ship and take the strongest survivors who willingly swore to the pirate life. Tommy was passed over, he was too weak, and an infection on his foot had gone gangrenous making him very sick. He watched the longboat shove off from the side of the ship and something snapped inside of him. He was looking at his only chance of life slowly rowing away and he somehow mustered the strength to throw himself into the sea and swim after the longboat- calling to them to stop- to wait, begging them for the love of god not to leave him behind for the sharks. The Captain was moved and stopped the longboat and pulled the lad aboard, and so Tommy started his association with the crew of the Llorona.

Other: Tommy draws very well, an artist in the closet so to speak, he doesn't have much time for drawing but when he can he does. Tommy is straight and would be up for a relationship if he found the right girl- not much opportunity for romancing on a ship full of lads.

Yes, aqua, you can definitely reserve that spot. I'm making the decision today, also, which, for most of you, will be night. I think. Anyway, that's what's happening.

Name: Christian Foxx

Gender: Male

Age: (15-30) 20

Ship: Syren

Position on ship: First Mate

Appearance: Christian has short, straight blond hair that has a tendency to tousle despite his best efforts. He has high cheek bones and cat-like green eyes. He has a deep love for fancy jackets and hats.

Personality: His cool and calculating demeanor belies his strong sense of mischief. He's not the brash, boisterous type, preferring to examine situations before making his move. His steady temper can be an asset, and his quite presence can be surprisingly intimidating.

Brief history: He is the fourth son of a wealthy merchant who owns several ships captained by his children. He decided early on that he did not want to simply imitate his brothers. In fact, he didn't want to please his father at all, so the moment he was old enough to sign on to a ship he did so. Since then hes been working his way up, taking any job that seems lucrative and interesting no matter the morality.

Strengths/weaknesses: He is fairly clever, and certainly good at keeping a ship running smoothly on the captains behalf, but he has too much pride for his own good. He also has some problems with going for what's fun before what's right, but that doesn't affect him too much being a pirate.

Other: Up for love

Poof.

Name: Azrael Gray (goes by Az by his family and perhaps lover, Gray by his Captain and Sir by everyone else)

Gender: male

Age: somewhere in twenties probably. It is not recommendable to take a guess.

Ship: Llorona

Position on ship: First Mate

Appearance: Apart from the pictures, he is tall, slender and it's pretty obvious that he could seriously hurt you if he wished to.
Spoiler
Image

Image

Personality: The First Mate must know everything of what happens on the ship. The captain must know what the First Mate tells him.
Not that Gray holds secrets from his Captain, but he knows how to decide on what is truly important. He knows his way around the ship better than anyone else, was it lurking in the shadows or walking the deck.
Though he is someone to be afraid of, and every man to leave to the sea knows of his name, Gray is not the kind of person members of the same crew would have to run from. He will gladly show a couple of things to an inexperienced gunmen, make jokes and tease the Captain (not often around other people, though, and not letting others do it), and stay up to make company to the cabin boy who works on the deck at the time. He adores heights and being above everyone (mostly literally), so he can often be found somewhere around the ropes and sails, walking as if he stands on the ground. He has grown up on the sea, and barely ever even stepped to the shore, so he can tell of the tides and the ship's movement with strange accuracy.
Apart from all of that, Gray is the kind of person who will talk his way out of everything, crossing people in all kinds of ways to get what he wants - but he's not the type to be plotting against the Captain of his own ship, both because of loyalty and because he simply doesn't want to be a captain.
When he falls in love (being a passionate lover with some ideas of experimenting), his loyalty switches to there, and so does s vulnerability - otherwise, one of his greatest weaknesses is probably the fact that he never uses any short-range weapons. He knows how to handle swords, and carries one, but doesn't use it unless he really has to. Also, he will freak out if he gets in small places - like cells - especially if he's also tied and if the place is dark.

Brief history: Gray has a twin sister, though he hasn't seen her in ages. She is the only family he has, and they got separated around the age of fifteen. She was afraid of the ocean, and he was practically afraid of the land, so even by that time they didn't see each other much.
He was then imprisoned by the Navy, and brought to a cell so he'd tell them of where his captain and crew went. He was tortured, though the Navy would probably never admit it, but he told them nothing. When he was about to get hanged, he was rescued from his prison by his sister (who was engaged for a Navy officer at the time and probably risked her life to do it) and joined the crew which one young "Captain" was recruiting at the time (see Alvarin's history).
One thing leading to another, he gained the trust of his Captain and the crew, and made it to the First Mate. He never saw his sister since, and he never talks of his past, but due to what she's done, he believes that women are much stronger than men make them look - he would have no troubles with having one or a few onboard.

Strengths/weaknesses: It was somewhat said above already, but still. He is a talented gunman, has the knowledge and can feel the changes on the sea and the ship, can stand through a lot and has his way of getting information. On the other hand, he doesn't use his sword much, has claustrophobia and dislikes the dark, and can get rather reckless when the life of someone he cares about is in danger.

Other: It is told that he made a deal with demons, and that the ocean will never let him die - it is also told that he doesn't leave the ship because he believes that his killer awaits somewhere on the land. He is up for love, though hard to get. He can have adventures with many, but once he finds the one, he will do everything for her. Straight, while at it. And he also knows how to sing, thought hasn't really done it since he got separated from his sister. He also smokes, and plays the piano. Not that he has it onboard, though. Oh, and he has a strange, round map in his quarters, in which he can stare for hours. Other people can see nothing but a normal map, but it's obviously special to him, for some reason.

I am new to this, so if I do something wrong, please don't hesitate to inform me! Thank you!

Name: Bernie

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Ship: Llorona

Position on ship: Cabin boy

Appearance: Ordinary, mundane. Hair colour is a matte brown and often hangs in odd jags around his head as he tends to cut it with a blunt pocket knife or not at all. Despite all this, he prefers to be quite neat and tidy, which is reflected in the rather worn - but orderly clothes he enjoys wearing. Skinny, but with a chubby face that loves wolfing down whatever food the cabin cook comes up. He is short for his age (probably due to keeping his head down and attempting to stay out of the way of the crew, who would occasionally thump him a few times.

Personality: Very bright, but muddled when it comes to relationships. Enjoys skulking and generally being unnoticed on the ship. Not the kind of person, and when drunk, his personality flips, (fighting, being quite loud etc)

Brief history: Came on board by the recommendation of his mother, who was divorced and starting to wane, unable to keep up with her more energetic child. Their family is poor, and Bertie arrived with just the clothes on his back and a rat in one pocket (pet rat). The rat was soon eaten due to fears of bubonic plague and Bernie sullenly decided to endure until they land on the next port, and then he would be off. However, over time he gradually finds companionship in the crew and on every landing, he would postpone his abandonment to the next... and the next.. and the next.

In the end, it just never seems to happen.

Strengths/weaknesses: Travels around the ship unnoticed, enjoys hearing gossip but due to his quiet nature, never seems to share it. However, some people (especially those with a clever tongue) can work the information out of him. Very confused when drunk. Very bright otherwise (but this is often used for mischief than good).

Other: Constantly looking for a new rat to call friend. Loves food.

Name: Nailah Crease

Gender: Female

Age: 17

Ship: Syren

Position on ship: Cook/Surgeon

Appearance: Nailah has chocolate brown eyes, shoulder-length wavy brown hair which she usually ties up in a messy bun. She's 5 "4", thin but not skinny, and has bad posture from a often- aching back. She usually wears loose clothes, like a big shirt, flowing skirt or baggy knee- length pants. She wears the most comfortable things she can find. She also has a bad right leg. Regardless, she usually keeps on a belt with places to stick daggers in. She's an excellent knife thrower (Long-distance combat)

Personality: Nailah is bright, cheery, funny, but mostly what you'd call "motherly". Since she has to cook and tend for her irresponsible but lovable crew, she's grown to be responsible and caring. She often scolds the rest of them and threatens them with a knife jokingly when they come back from a ransacking spree with cuts and bruises, laughing. She thinks of the crew as one big family. Also, everyone teases her and calls her "Nail" which gets on her nerves but she quickly brushes it off. She doesn't dwell on problems and the past and simply enjoys the moment and looks forward to the future.
There are times when she goes slightly insane though, for no reason in particular. But otherwise, she never really gets angry.

Brief history: Nailah was born to the chef of a popular inn in a bustling port town. So, she's gotten used to the behavior of pirate folk and often used to go out and listen to them telling stories of adventure and the rough seas and mermaids and hidden treasure. Her mother died shortly after giving birth to her little brother, so in taking care of him through his childhood, she earned how to be a good mother. She learned to cook all kinds of things from her father, the chef. But all that changed when one day, when she was 12, a pirate from Llorona came in the inn and immediately got in a fight with her father. It got bloody and Nailah was never the same since she tried to intervene but got thrown against a wall that cracked from the force. With a damaged body, following her father's soon-to-be death, she set off with her brother to find fortune in another port town. She got a simple job as an errand girl who did odd jobs. That way, she learned to be smart on the streets. One day, when she was 15, she accidentally met the Captain of Syren during an errand she was doing. She related her story, the captain took a liking to her and took her on the ship as it's cook and surgeon. She left her brother behind reluctantly, with the old lady she worked for, promising to come back and visit twice a year. Since then, she's been with the crew of Syren.

Strengths/weaknesses: Strengths: She very useful to have around you at all times. She'll keep you full to the pit of your stomach, she'll take care of you if you're hurt, and is basically like another mother. She also loves to make people laugh which loosens you up if you're stressed. She's also, an excellent knife- thrower. Weakness: She's physically disabled, so she can't partake in hand to hand combat. This means she need a lot of protection, but the others certainly aren't unwilling to play that part.

Other: Up for love.

Name: John William Allingham

Gender: Male

Age: 31

Ship: Llorona

Position on ship: Captain

Appearance: 6'2, athletic build. Tanned skin, black hair, dark brown eyes. Carries himself with dignity, even though he limps heavily, and always has his chin up. He doesn't look proud or haughty, just confident. He smiles a lot, and his eyes are very warm. He wears an army jacket at all times, and is very fond of loose white shirts. He tries to keep himself neat, but it's not his biggest priority so don't be surprised if his hair is messy and his shirt wrinkly. He has a plain silver pendant around his neck, and supports himself on a cane which conceals a hidden blade.
Spoiler
Image
Spoiler
Image

Personality: John is very easy to like and gets along with most people.. Kind of. He smiles and laughs a lot, at least when he's with someone he trusts. Towards people he doesn't trust he's a total s**t, and he doesn't warm up easily either. It takes years for him to develop trust for someone, but once you have his trust and friendship he'll become the most loyal friend you've ever met.

Even though he's captain, and has been for years, he never looks down at anyone in his crew, not even the cabin boys. He knows what it's like to be at the bottom, and when it comes to giving someone a raise (or in most cases, a share of some treasure) he's just as likely to give it to a cabin boy as his first mate. He sees his crew like a second family.

You really don't want to see him angry. He holds grudges, and if you ever scorn him he's going to hunt you down, no matter what it takes.

When he was younger he was a real hothead, never thinking before acting and flaring up for nothing, but as he got older he became both wiser and more patient. Now he has become a very calm person, who rarely gets agitated. He think things through before making any decisions, but that sometimes makes him too slow to act.

Brief history: In his youth John was a cabin boy in the British Navy, but he eventually grew tired of scrubbing the deck and gathered a motley crew of thieves and beggars to help him hijack one of the navy's finest ships. He put up the pirate flag and has been Captain of Llorona ever since.

He traveled the seven seas, looking for treasure and adventure without any real goal. The life as a pirate proved to be more challenging than he thought, and after one too many mutinies he decided to have the whole crew walk the plank. After that he has slowly gathered a new one, and he refuses to let anyone on board that he does not trust with his life.

During one of his many battles his left leg got hit by a cannonball, and has been as good as useless after that. He refuses to let anyone cut it of and curses at the very mention of a wooden leg.

Strengths/weaknesses: He walks with a heavy limp and can not run, but he is as strong as an ox, has a wicked aim with a gun and is a talented swordsman (even though his footwork is messed up). He looks to his crew first, and never does anything reckless. Can sometimes be overly careful, and has some trust issues.

Other: Up for love. Oh, and he is quite fond of singing, and rather good at it. He often tries to get the rest of the crew to sing as well, since a song makes it more fun to work.

Alright, everyone, here we go! And, just so you're all aware, there are more people on each ship than just our characters...probably around twenty others, at least.

Spoiler
Here are the Syren's supernatural artifacts. Nicco found both of them during his travels, and the crew should have some vague idea that there is some magic aboard...

The Map: This map appears to be ordinary, albeit rather useless as it only shows a small portion of the world. However, it records, down to the smallest detail, any location where it is taken and can recall the maps of those places when asked in a special way. It can also zoom to a certain degree. It is why the Syren almost never gets lost. The map only details fixed things, like shoals, coastlines, etc. It does not predict the weather or other such things.

Nicco is the only one who knows about the special properties of this map, and most of the crew thinks that he simply has a lot of charts and maps. He obtained it from one of the first ships he ever raided, a merchant sailing from Venice.

The Barrel: There is an oversized water barrel in the ship's aft store that is always full of clean, clear water. The crew simply considers it lucky, but everyone knows that it's special.

Captain Nicco Burns, The Syren,

I breathe in deeply as I step out of my cabin. The air is tangy with the smell of the sea, salt and fish and fresh air. It's one of the reasons I love being out here. It's one of the reasons that this will always be the place I call home.
The crew is busy, and the watch has just changed, by the looks of it. Temperance is at the helm, and Chris is laughing with our new cabin boy, Tommy. I smile, and shake my head. He's a good friend, Chris, but making him first mate was probably not the best decision I've ever made. Wolfe is doing a routine check of the top-deck cannons, going from one to the next, oiling the wheels and cleaning the barrels. From down below, I can hear Nailah laughing as she serves up grub to those sailors who just got off watch. Everything as it should be.

I stride across the poop deck, nodding at Temperance, and smiling at the shouts of "Good mornin', Cap'n!" that fly across the ship. I hurry down the stairs to where Chris is still in avid conversation with Tommy. I raise an eyebrow, and Tommy reddens, but Chris just smiles.

"Nicco, you slept in," he says, grinning, "Thought you might have died in there, amongst all your precious maps."

"That squall last night had me on edge," I say, "Didn't get much sleep."

"You're losing your edge, mate, if that rain storm scared you," Chris laughs, slapping me on the shoulder. I roll my eyes, and turn to Tommy, who's still standing there, red in the face.

"Go get some food, Tommy," I say, "You've earned it, after last night. We'd have torn a sail if it wasn't for your quick work with them ropes."

"Thank you, sir," the boy says quietly, then runs off.

"Well, I think we'll arrive at San Juan by mid-day," Chris says, suddenly business, "And that's definitely where there were last rumors of this ghost ship."

"Good," I say, looking out to sea, "The port's not that big, there aren't that many taverns. It should be easy to find our man."

"Aye, that it should be," Chris says, "But what then?"

"We get him to tell us where we can find this ship," I say, turning back to Chris and smiling, "And we go after it. And then, Chris, we will rule the seas."

So, since both captains have two magical artifacts I thought I should inform my crew of what we have :)

Aliena, the talking figurehead:
She's placed on the prow of the ship (duh), covered in golden paint. Whenever she's asked she will tell the crewmen about tomorrow's weather conditions, give some general good advice (like 'this is a good day for fishing' or 'you should take a bath', she can be quite rude), and sometimes she also warns about reefs. She looks like Sierra Boggess in Ariel. I suggest you google it.

If asked about her John will say that he got her from a shady figure after winning a bet, and that she's named after a former lover. That isn't quite true though. What he won in that bet was just a huge block of enchanted wood. He handed a portrait to a wood carver and payed him to shape it into the form of the woman on that portrait. Aliena was actually his wife, who was killed during a mutiny (hence John's trust issues). Aria's character, Gray, is the only one who should know about this, since he's the only one who's been part of the crew from the start.

A lock of hair from a mermaid:
John carries it in a pendant around his neck. It allows him to breath under water. He got it when the ship got caught in a group of mermaids. John who was depressed at the time did not have the strength to resist them, so they almost pulled him down in the water. When Gray yanked him back John accidentally ripped of some hair from the mermaid.

John William Allingham - The Llorona
"..and char and in flame and ignite.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We burn up the city, we're really a fright.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

We're rascals and scoundrels, we're villians and knaves.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, we're.."

"You seem awfully happy today," Gray said. He was forced to raise his voice to make himself heard over the singing pirates. I liked it when they sang, of key as it might be. Song was a sure sign of a happy crew.

"The storm is over and the sun is smiling at us," I started with a smile, but Gray cut me of.

"Are you sure you haven't been on the rum?"

"What rum? You bastards drank the last of it a week ago." My tone made it very clear that I wasn't serious, and he chuckled. "Hold this for me, will you?" I let him take the rudder and sat down on a chair I had carried up to the poop deck. My leg had been screaming for some rest. "Aliena told me that the weather will be just as pleasant tomorrow. She also told me that it would be wise to travel to the east."

"To San Juan?" Felix had approached us without me noticing, and I swear I jumped high enough to touch the topsail.

"Hawthorn, don't sneak up on people like that," Gray barked, but I could tell that he was trying very hard not to laugh.

"Sorry, Sir. I just wanted to tell the Captain that we will reach San Juan by tomorrow morning if we keep this course."

"Aye," I muttered. "The person we're looking for waits there. Take the pirate flag down, or we'll have the navy on our tails before we even set eyes on the place."

"Aye, Captain," Felix said and hurried of.

"You sure Aliena didn't just want you to restock the rum?"

"Nah, I feel it. We're on the right course now. In that harbor we will find someone who can guide us to that ship." I kept an eye on the crew as I talked. Brent was about to drop a spider down the neck of Tommy's shirt. "Norwood!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. He spun around, tossing the spider overboard as he did. It was quite alarming that we had spiders that size on the ship. "Do you think I'm blind?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about, Captain," he said with a sheepish smile.

"Why don't you help Tommy with checking the cannons instead?"

"But I'm no gun master."

"Oh, I'm sorry. It just looked like you had nothing better to do." My voice was thick with sarcasm.

"I'll get started with lunch!" He said quickly and hurried beneath deck. Tommy gave me a thankful look before returning to the cannons.

"I thought you found his fobia funny?"

"I do, but what kind of captain would I be if I let the crew follow my bad example?" I said with a laugh. I leaned back and watched as the British flag was raised. It reminded me of the past, when I had been a cabin boy. "So, what will you do with your part of the treasure?"

"We don't even know if there really is a treasure yet. I'll think about that when we actually find it."

"You know what I'm gonna do?"

"I'm not psychic."

"No, but you know me." Yes, he was one of the few.. Probably the only one who truly knew me. He knew the true story behind Aliena, and he knew why I had such troubles hiring new crew members. He had chosen to keep loyal to me since the very beginning, and was the only one who had done that.

"Retire?" I choked for a second, and then I doubled over in laughter. When I glanced up at him he grinned. "No, you're going to do some repairs to the ship and buy enough rum for the rest of our lives."

"That, my friend, is exactly what I'm going to do.. And sink a few ships of the royal navy."

"I don't see why you have to get the treasure to do that?"

I shrugged. "Why not? I'm still young, and we haven't done anything fun for a long time." Gray probably wanted to say something, but I cut him of by joining in the song. "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me."

Alexa Scythe- Gunmaster
“Morning Cap’n!” I called out with everyone else then I went back to work. Luckily none of the cannon’s had sustained much damage. I fell into the rhythm of cleaning which was as familiar and as soothing as my breathing. I also took mental notes of scratches on the inside of the barrels that might interfere with a cannon balls path nothing to serious. I heard the Captain talking about a ship and I smiled slightly. There had been rumor for years about a ship called the Marie Celeste. I had heard about it from plenty of pirates taking them their last meals. Some had whispered it was cursed but I had brushed it off as to many days at sea.
A breeze blew up and my hair flew into my mouth. I spat it out making a face. I heard a few of the crew members laughing and I gave them a pointed look. "You know I need help moving the cannonballs." I said sweetly. They smiled at me and then went back to what they were doing previously. I chuckled and went back to cleaning. I started to sing to help pass the time. "The valley green was so serene In the middle ran a stream so blue. A maiden fair, in despair, once had met her true love there and she told him. She would say. “Promise me, when you see, a white rose you'll think of me I love you so, Never let go, I will be your ghost of a rose." Her eyes believed in mysteries She would lay amongst the leaves of amber Her spirit wild, heart of a child, yet gentle still and quiet and mild and he loved her. When she would say. "Promise me, when you see, a white rose you'll think of me I love you so, Never let go, I will be your ghost of a rose." When all was done, she turned to run Dancing to the setting sun as he watched her And ever more he thought he saw A glimpse of her upon the moors forever He'd hear her say. “Promise me , when you see, a white rose you'll think of me I love you so, Never let go, I will be your ghost of a rose."
A few of the crew members clapped and I smiled sweetly then gave them all a very cheeky salute. I cleaned the last cannon and leaned against the rail sighing. Another breeze blew up but this time it kept my hair out of my mouth. I smiled enjoying the clean scent of salt. "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me." I hummed the rest of the song smiling still.

"You are without a doubt, the worst pirate I've ever heard of."

"But you have heard of me."

[while trapped in a bucket of popcorn] You know what the worst part is? It's not even butter. We're gonna be destroyed by... ARTIFICIAL FLAVORING!
