Haven looked around the lunch room looking for the rest of the pack. He took a deep breath as he saw a few new students, unease settling in a little bit as he did. He never liked the sight of new people, it always meant there was a slight chance that they would be found and that scared him the most out of anything.

"Hey, looks like their are newbies here this year." Sola smiled walking over.

"Yeah, sadly enough. I didn't think anyone new would move to this little town." He replied as he turned and followed her to the packs normal table.

"Get over it, we'll be fine and safe. I know you'll keep us that way." She smiled at him.

"You don't know that for sure. I can do my best.." He started.

"Stop it now, you have done fine so far, we can't live in fear, yes we need to stay hidden, but we know this town better than anyone. We know this area. We can get out and disappear from just about anywhere without problems. Now buck up, and don't let anyone see how you feel." She replied as she looped her arm in his. "Plus, you're still the hottest guy on campus, enjoy that."

"Uh huh, whatever." He laughed at her as they sat down, the others weren't there yet but he was sure they would be soon.

After the bell went I picked my bag up and slung my bag on and ran out the door and headed down the hall to the field. Running out on to the green grass breathing in the fresh air the smell of freedom. After being out side looking at the sky i started thinking about what the past week has been. This town is so small there is not much going on maybe i should start a hobby. Then I look at my watch " Oh gosh I’m late dam Haven is going to be mad."

as i enter the lunch room I look around for Haven. Then I spot him after he waves at me to come over Sola was already there but no one else was there yet.

"Oh my god, Mr Brow has got to be the worst teacher ever!" I exclaimed as I approached Blake. "You know that thing he does when someone falls asleep?"

She made a face. "Nails again against the chalkboard?"

"Yes! I'm sure that is horrible enough for the others but with our ears it's like.." I struggled to come up with something that would describe the pain accurately enough.

"A knife slicing through your scull?" Blake suggested with a smile. We were walking towards the cafeteria.

"Exactly. And he did it five times during the lesson." I sighed. It felt good to complain to someone. "So, how have your day been so far? I didn't see you this morning."

"I overslept.. Again." I laughed heartily at her guilty face. "But other than that I've had a pretty good day."

"Any new suitors?" I winked at her. We were both fairly popular at school, especially among the guys.

"Not really," she said as we entered the cafeteria. I froze when I saw Haven sitting at one of the tables with his sister and Hayden. My heart picked up its pace and my cheeks burned when he looked up and waved at us. I felt almost nauseous at the thought of sitting by the same table as him, even though we ate together almost every day. "Speaking of which," Blake continued. "When are you going to tell him how you feel?"

I gaped at her. What if he had heard her? I didn't dare to look. Sure, he was at the other side of the room, but still? I tried to relax a bit, but it was impossible. My heart wouldn't slow down no matter what. I looked down on my hands. "He doesn't like me anyway," I said quietly. "So I might as well spare myself the humiliation."

Blake said something comforting, but I wasn't really listening anymore. I took a tray and then some food. Why didn't he like me? Wasn't I pretty enough, smart enough, strong enough? I tried so hard to get him to like me and people noticed, guys noticed, but not Haven. He wouldn't even know that I existed if I hadn't been in his pack.

I was sitting in the cafeteria with some people I knew when I saw Haven and his sister walking in. He was glancing around, looking worried as always. I had always thought that the two siblings were odd, and the people they hanged out with too. It wasn't that they did strange things, but sometimes they acted like they were afraid of something, and they all had this strange vibe.

A few minutes later Blakely and Qali walked in. Qali acted like she always did when she saw Haven, rigid and nervous, and Blakely tried to compensate for it. Poor girl. She was actually quite popular with the guys, but she only had eyes for the one who was too oblivious to notise. Or maybe he was simpli pretending not to notice? I couldn't quite tell.

"Earth to Eric, are you there?" A hand being waved in front of my face pulled me from my thoughts.

"Sorry, what?"

My friend sighed. "I said: Aren't you supposed to be guiding the new students today, since you're in the welcoming committee?"

I opened my mouth to tell him that that wasn't the case, but closed it again as I realized that I was indeed supposed to guide the new students. Oh, crap. How could I possibly have forgotten?

I more or less jumped up from the chair and ran out from the cafeteria, leaving the rest of my food on the table.

Blake

I don't like Haven...that way. I mean, I used to date him, and I know Qali like him, and he's one of the most popular guys in school. I nudge Qali to keep walking, staying close to comfort her, and sit down net to her when she does, sitting across from Haven and his sister, Hayden on the either side of him. Not hungry, I study him as two guys come up behind me and Qali, hugging us from behind, "I didn't know I was replaced," The guy says, studying Haven and Hayden. The other one with Qali nods and sighs.

Qali shoos the guy holding he away and I don't blame her, knowing she can't be that way around Haven, and he walks away to another table, waving at his buddy.

"I'm Charlie," the guy holding me introduces himself, "And your Blake."

I don't answer, trying not to rip his throat out, trying not to shift and just... Kill him right then and there. His eyes trail down my body and Qali swallows.

"Be calm," she whispers, "you can't make a scene there."

Haven studies the guy, standing and about to say something. I shake my head, wanting to prove to him I can handle it.

I lose it, standing and pushing the guy away from me as my eyes turn my wolves yellow, "I have told you a million times. I'm not interested. Now, if you want to live, step out of my way and let me sit with my friends in peace before I rip your head off."

He swallows, seeing my eyes, before running off to find his buddy.

Is it back down, my eyes turning back to blue and take a deep breath before I bury my face in my arms. Now I'm pissed off. Great.

(Um Pixie, Haven hasn't dated sense what happened with his pack. He feels it's a distraction and will get the pack killed. And if something like that had happened he would've stepped in and chased the guy off not ignore it. Just letting you know.)

Sorry, edited. I meant that they dated like, before the pack formed. Not when it was already together. But I fixed it.

Sola/Haven
Sola watched the guy walk off and she rolled her eyes.

"Anyway, y'all want to go for a ride tonight? I've got a killer hankering for running right now." She said as Blake sat down.

"It'd probably be a good idea." Haven said taking a swig of his drink and then looking around the lunch room. It was getting full as everyone slowly came in. He couldn't wait for the school day to be over. He hated school.

Haven

"Because the pack needs to have socialization. We can't just hide up in the woods. People would get suspicious." He replied. "We have to seem as normal as possible. The fact that no one sees our parents is bad enough."

"School is a pain, but there are things about humans we can learn here that we wouldn't if we were home all the time." Sola shrugged. "Plus, this way Haven isn't always the bad guy when he has to be strict about schooling."

When the bell rang for lunch, I was so startled I almost fell out of my chair. To catch myself, I slid my tennis shoe clad feet of their desktop perch and slammed them onto the ground. I sighed and closed my book, sad my time alone was through. Oh well, I thought, rising to my feet.

I went to the door to the empty classroom where I had spent my third period gym class. I was about to open the door when I spotted the principle, Mrs. MacArthur striding up. Quickly, I flicked off the light and dropped below the window. The shadow of her head roved the floor inches in front of me, and the door handle above my head grazing my hair.

As soon as the shadow left I let loose a sigh of relief. Standing, I opened the door and rushed out of the classroom praying no one else would wander by. Thankfully the hall was empty and I hurried to the already crowded lunchroom.

"Hey guys," I said sitting down with my pack.

"And school is kind of fun," I said with a smile, but quickly looked down at my food when Haven turned to look at me. "Except for Mr Brown's classes. They're just horrible." The others all made a face. We all knew how much those high pitched sounds could hurt if you didn't see them coming. "Anyway, I think a run tonight would be great." Wow, I was almost impressed by myself. I hadn't even stuttered, despite Haven looking at me.

"Hey guys," said Azzy as she sat down. "What's up?"

"We're going for a run tonight," Blake said. She seemed to have calmed down, and was now smiling and talking like she usually did.

"At what time?" I asked. My parents hadn't been very happy the last time I came home after twelve. I wished that I could talk to them about the whole wolf thing, but I couldn't. They thought that I was perfectly normal, just like them.

"We could meet up at eight, the sun should've settled by then," someone said. I wasn't really listening anymore.

Why were my parents normal when I wasn't? It made no sense. The others' parents were wolfs, just like them. I pushed those thoughts away as soon as they came. I probably had a grandparent who was a wolf, or something. Yes, that had to be it.

The rattle from chairs sliding back pulled me from my thoughts, and I realized the others were leaving. "Well, I'm of to class. Math, what about you?"

I smiled at Blake. "Free period, so I'm gonna go to the library." Blake was about to leave, but I added: "Wanna do something after school?"

"Yeah, sure. Your place?" I nodded and Blake took of just in time to hear the bell ring.

Haven

Haven watched as all the others slowly dispersed to their classes. He was glad they were all doing fine. For what they had been through that was. They were an odd group, some had come with him from his home pack, others were here and found them. But he wouldn't change anything about the pack. He looked towards where Qali had gone. He couldn't figure out what her deal was though. Sometimes he thought she didn't mind his company, but others it was like she was trying to avoid him like he had done something wrong. He caught up with Sola who was walking towards her Math class.

"Can I ask you something?" He asked as they stopped other students passing them by.

"Yeah, whats up?" Sola asked looking down at her watch. "I don't have a whole lot of time, but be quick."

"What's up with Qali. It's almost like I shot her dog or something with how she acts around me sometimes. I just want everyone in the pack to feel comfortable with me, keep from having and strife."

"If you think something is up ask her. I don't think y'all have ever just talked, you are too busy and she is just shy. If you are really worried she is mad at you about something then ask her about it. Don't pull the whole Alpha like thing. Just ask her like a normal person. Think of what she goes through, I mean her parents are humans, they don't know what she is going through and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if she was adopted. She probably thinks the same thing in the back of her head. Just think about how that makes her feel. She is different from everyone in school and the one place that she should fit in like two peas in a pod she may not feel she truly does because her parents aren't like us. Talk to her, dad always said the key to a good pack is communication, like human relationships, there can't be anything hidden or unsaid or else it will cause issues. Ask her if everything is ok, get to know her. Because I know for a fact you don't know her all that well." Sola patted his shoulder and turned running off towards her class leaving Haven to wonder towards the library for his free period.

History: Used to live in Canada with his pack, however after a Russian pack occupied the area, he, his sister and the other wolves under the age of thirty were sent away. He's let go of the past and moved on, but worries about Thalia. Their pack was very traditional with their ways of the wolf. While escaping, they ran across Haven and Sola and have been with them since then. Some wolves think that he has a problem with Haven being the Alpha, since Thomas is older, however he doesn't like the responsibility that comes with Haven's position. He's more of a right side man than leader material. He did, however, buy a log cabin in the woods of the Appalachians where they live, just in case they got tired of running in wolf form all night.
Personality: Thomas is a very sweet guy. He cares a lot, if not too much, but knows when someone is pushing the limits. He's protective over his sister, as she still doesn't conform to the people around and sticks out like a sore thumb. He understands though, and knows that she could take a while. He loves to talk and if given the chance, would probably talk your ear off. Another thing he loves is girls. Short girls, tall girls, thin girls, pudgy girls. Girls with long hair, short hair, brunette, blonde, fake boobs or real. It doesn't matter to him. A girl is a girl and he'll do whatever he has to to win the girl he wants for the night.

History: Like her brother, but she's having a lot harder of a time that he is. She keeps her hair long and spends hours in her room. She normally wears moccassains and when it's cold she uses REAL fur to stay warm, even at school. She walks with a slight limp from getting her foot caught in a bear trap when she was eight, but it's barely noticeable anymore. She will, however, let it be known that she hates people studying her.
Personality: Alaska won't take anyone's crap. She can be somewhat of a, for a lack of better words, bitch. The only girl she opens up to is Sola, as she's the only one that Alaska doesn't have a bad opinion about. Coming from an actual, traditional pack, the wolves around her that come from a full human family don't exactly have her respect. She isn't afraid to let someone know how she feels about them and if they aggravate her, she won't even try to stop herself from tearing them apart, be it in wolf or human form. She's otherwise quiet, but doesn't like to be bothered either.
Oh, the tiger will love you. There is no sincerer love than the love of food.

While the others went to their classes, I was still staring at the spot where some guy a few tables over... Eric Something, had been sitting, watching us before he darted out of the cafeteria. What was up with that kid? He was always watching us, everyday. He was always with a group of humans, but I felt that something wasn't quite right. I gave my head a little shake. I'm probably just being paranoid.

Trying to convince myself it was nothing, I stood up and walked out of the cafeteria without looking back. But really, I knew that wasn't the end of it. If I'd ever ignored my instincts like this when I was on my own, that would have been it. But that's just it, I thought, I wasn't on my own anymore.

In an attempt to get the issue out of my head, I decided to go to class.

I went into the library and picked up a book about the second world war. The history assignment was due next week, but I might as well finish it early. I pulled out a chair and sat down. I had barely started reading when I was interrupted.

"Hey, Qali."

I froze. I knew too well who that voice belonged to, and I had no idea how I would possibly get through this conversation without Blake by my side. My heart started racing, my cheeks burned. I knew I should look up at Haven, but I couldn't force my eyes to leave the book. "H-hey," I finally managed to say.

Eric Mason
When I was done with the little tour for the new students, I decided to go home, since the last period was almost over. I dumped my bag in my room and told my mum that I was going to a friends house. I followed the street until I reached the end of it, and continued into the forest. I hadn't flown in a while, and I missed the feeling of wind under my wings.
