Jackie

I pull him into a hug, closing the door behind him.

Nic

I don't know what to do at first, not expecting it, but hug her back after a second or two.

Jackie

I start crying again, "Y-You were right."

Nic

I swallow and rest my chin on the top of her head, "Listen next time then, huh? Don't cry though. You're okay now."

Jackie

I shake my head and bury my face in his neck, "I-It's just hard to know that when he told me he loved me...he didn't at all."

Nic

I tighten my arms around her, trying my best to comfort her, "You didn't know better."

Jackie

I sniffle, "I should've."

Nic

I sigh, "Don't beat yourself up about it. You know now."

Jackie

I nod and pull back, wiping my eyes.

Nic

I fix my jacket around her, taking a deep breath.

Jackie



I study him, arms crossed, "Do you love Juliet?" I ask.

Nic

I study her, "You know better than to ask someone like me that. Respect and love are two different things. High school is for fun and games."

Jackie

I study him once more before wrapping my arms around his neck, "You don't love her? Do you think she loves you?"

Nic

I watch her, hesitating before moving my arms around her, "I hope not."

Jackie

I bite my lip, "Why not?"
