Grayson

I sit Indian style on the edge of the bed, looking at them.

Riley

I glance up at him, smiling.

Grayson

I smile back and yawn, studying her.

Riley

Mariah stirs in her sleep and I look down, her mumbling something.

Grayson

My eyes flicker down to our baby girl and I keep my smile, watching her.

Riley

"N-No," she frowns, stirring again, "D-Dont."

I lose my smile and study her, swallowing.

Grayson

Her words wipe away my smile as well, worry lines creasing into the corners of my eyes instead.

Riley

She screams and I take her in my arms, "Shhh...It's alright."

She wakes and I swallow, "What happened?"

She doesn't answer, making a cry face.

Grayson

I move and take the both of them in my arms, setting a hand on the side of Mariah's tiny face, "S'okay, baby girl. Tell Mommy and Daddy what you saw."

Riley

She buries her face in my red hair, not crying...yet, "He try to take me."

"Who?" I ask, stroking her hair back.

"Him," she simply says.

Grayson

I study her, "Who tried to take you, Mari?"

Riley

She swallows, "A man person."

Grayson

I study her, "Do we know him, baby girl?"

Riley

She shrugs, "Me don't know."

Grayson

I rephrase, "Do you know him?"
