I nod and run back downstairs and outside, the place collapsing even faster, people watching from a distance as I close my eyes and pray to god they come out safe.
All you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie-dust!
I kick the door open and bolt in, looking for Roan or the king. Spotting Ruby's father first, I run over and hope that Roan is nearby, sighing of relief when I find him trying to open a secret hatch.
"Let's go," I say, "This whole place is going to collapse."
"The door..." Roan looks up and sees me, sending a confused look before glancing at the door, "It locked us in... But okay then."
He ushers Ruby's father towards it and follows close behind, grabbing a hold of my elbow to make sure I'm right beside him the whole time.
I'm never what I like I'm double sided And I just can't hide I kind of like it When I make you cry 'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up Inside
Someone takes me from behind just as I see them exit the room and holds my mouth shut from screaming. They throw me in a back of a car and I scream once they do. They talk about stealing a princess and I bang on the back of it, crying my eyes out as I beg to be let go. I scream Dylan's name and my dad, trying to kick the back door down, "Let. Me. OUT!"
All you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie-dust!
We get out just as the building collapses and I look around for Ruby, a bad feeling in my gut. I catch sight of her silky hair and bolt after it, wondering why she's running. Then I lose sight of her and come across a car instead. I spin around and look for her before hearing her muffled scream.
"Ruby?" I shout, bolting towards the car where I hear the sound loudest.
I'm never what I like I'm double sided And I just can't hide I kind of like it When I make you cry 'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up Inside
Still crying, I scream even louder but then they tape my mouth shut, "Ugh. Shut up!" They yell at me, tying my hands. I kick at the hood of the van and scream again, even if no one can hear me as they start to drive off.
All you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie-dust!
The car takes off down the road and I make to sprint after it before someone wraps their arms around me from behind.
"Where are you going, Lyn?" Roan asks, coming around to my front.
"Ruby!" I call.
He looks at the van and swears, letting me go. I chase after the van before giving up and stopping. Something shoots out in front of the car and causes a tree to fall right before the hood. Guards bolt past me as the vehicle swerves and makes contact with it.
I'm never what I like I'm double sided And I just can't hide I kind of like it When I make you cry 'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up Inside
Something stops the van and makes me slide to the right, hitting my head. Something warm drips down my face and I glance up, to find it bleeding. The good gets opened and my vision goes blurry, someone carrying me. Reconizing it as one of the guards, my father hovers around us before having him set me down in the grass. I blink a couple times and bring my hand to my head, everyone's talking becoming watery.
All you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie-dust!
I bolt towards the van once it stops and watch worriedly as a guard removes Ruby from the wreckage. She's set in the grass, her father hovering nearby, and I sit behind her, leaning her against me for support. Roan hurries over with bandages and takes care of her head as I try to think of anything to say.
I'm never what I like I'm double sided And I just can't hide I kind of like it When I make you cry 'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up Inside
I close my eyes to get clarification and everything settles down. When I open them again, I'm leaned against Dylan and Roan is finishing as he bandages my forehead. My father is talking to some guards and that's all there is. No one else around. I blink a couple times and sigh, "Hey..." I murmer, bringing a hand to my forehead as I do.
All you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie-dust!
I flash a smile and set my cheek against the back of her head, watching her. I feel Roan watching me, but I don't look up at him. He can assume. I don't need to explain things to him.
I'm never what I like I'm double sided And I just can't hide I kind of like it When I make you cry 'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up Inside
People say I love you all the time - when they say, ‘take an umbrella, it’s raining,’ or ‘hurry back,’ or even ‘watch out, you’ll break your neck.’ There are hundreds of ways of wording it - you just have to listen for it, my dear. — John Patrick, The Curious Savage
