Hi. :)

Hello everyone! I'm new, of course. I've actually known about YWS for, um, a few years now, but I hadn't been writing enough until now to justify joining. But here I am!

Let's see. I'm seventeen. I like reading and writing, but I guess that would be pretty common around here. I also like tea, forests, thunderstorms, squirrels, and used bookshops. I'm always finding new authors to love, but the ones with the highest representation on my bookshelf are Margaret Atwood, Ray Bradbury, J. D. Salinger, John Steinbeck, and Kurt Vonnegut.

I think that's about it. So excited to get started here!

Hi, welcome!

I second Snoink's approval of your bookshelves, especially Bradbury. I think I need to make it my goal this year to buy and read all the Bradbury books I don't already own.

Squirrels are so hyper and cute! It always makes me smile when I see one and I know if I was ever to write a book with animals, there would have to be a squirrel. Perhaps a magpie as well because they're really cool, but definitely a squirrel.

Welcome to YWS! How has your journey been here till now? Found friends?

I totes approve of your bookshelf, too! Even though I've just read J.D. Salinger among them but I've heard a lot about the others so they must be good! xD!

And wow, forests? I love them, too! I went to this forest once and it was so isolated and peaceful that I wanted to stay there the rest of my life. <3 Plus, I love the security the green lush trees provide me with. Isn't it something?

Well, what kind of stuff do you usually write and have you ever started a novel? And finished it? xD!

Which Salinger books have you read? I wish there were more than four. D:

So far I've only been writing realistic fiction short stories... I can't even begin to imagine writing a novel! I do read a lot of short stories though, so I generally have short-story-sized ideas, haha. What do you write?

Well, to be honest, I've just read one by J.D. Salinger and that too The Catcher in the Rye. I'm trying to find some more books but where I live I don't think it's available that easily. I'm trying to find it online, lets see what happens.

It's awesome you're able to pull off a short story. I find it the hardest. Would you recommend me any short stories collection?

As for me, I write pretty much anything. I get different types of ideas. These days I'm working on two collab projects with my YWS friends. I haven't finished a novel either.

Yeah, if you can find it, Salinger's Nine Stories is great. Most of Bradbury's books are short story collections. (He has just under 600 short stories published. ) I especially like The October Country because it has some of his earliest stories and it's easy to see what he's doing, from a writing perspective. I just recently read Flannery O'Connor's A Good Man Is Hard to Find and Other Stories, and wow. She doesn't have the cheeriest perspective on life, but she's an awesome writer.

Hello, Prolix! Do you like scrub forests, I wonder?

Scrub forests! I've never heard of those. What are they?

They're forests southern-style. Mostly oaks and pines.

Oh, well, I like oaks and pines. Any forest, really. They just feel so magical and hidden and secret. And they're pretty. A lot of people want to live by a lake or the ocean or a mountain or something, but I'd be happy with the woods any day. Cheaper too, I'd think.
