Rayah

Alex looks at the floor and I sigh, taking another sip of my lemonade. Something about that boy at the other table made me uncomfortable, like I know him...but don't. Though I know he keeps looking at me. I pull my hood over my head and slide down in my chair, taking a deep breath.

I decide to have some fun instead of dwelling on the past. I sit up and tap the kid on the shoulder, snapping his hood off once he looks at me.

The boy taps me on my shoulder and yanks my hood off, causing me to jump up and stumble backwards.

"What the hell, man?!" I ask before something shimmers behind me.

My skin crawls and Nic runs over, stopped by whatever's behind me.

"Good afternoon, Rayah," a voice says to the girl.

Hermes appears behind the boy and I flash a smile, taking my hood off while standing. "Hermes, nice to see you again," I cross my arms, trying to look behind the boy. Hermes flashes a smile at me as I take a sip of my lemonade.

"What the hell is going on?" I mutter under my breath, confused.

I don't move, not wanting to due to my previous experiences in situations like this, but can't help but be awestruck by the girl once I get a full scope.

"Likewise, Rayah," the man says.

A hand grasps my hood and pulls me to stand.

"Now, it's been a long time, young Jace. You won't remember me, but, as you will soon discover for yourself, I'm your father." he says.

I look at Alex and then back at the boy. So confused, I take off my jacket and I bite my lip. "I don't understand," I whispered. I soon see the resemblance and flash another smile.

"What's your name?" I ask the boy.

Confused, I decide to head out. I nod goodbye to Rayah and hurry.

What? My father was a murderer. He joined with the Cavarians and killed my... No.

"You can't possibly be my father," I say, looking at the girl, "And it's Jace."

"You just don't remember," Hermes replies.

I smile, "Nice to meet you. I'm Rayah," I hold my hand out.

The shimmery guy lets go of me and I stumble forward a bit, my ribs burning at the motion. Nic comes to steady me and glares at the guy behind me confusedly.

If he's my father...is he Alyx's?

I turn around, unintentionally ignoring the girl. Nic apologizes for me.

"My brother," I say, "Is he?"

He ignores me and I drop my hand, taking a step back while slipping both of my hands in the pockets.

Hermes looks at Jace, confused. "Just you, Jace," He states.

Nic apologizes to the girl for me and I shake my head.

"Not him," I point to Nic, swallowing, "Alyx...He...He was two years older than me."

I shrug, not thinking it's a big deal, and look back at the conversation.

"No, He's not. Or...was not. I don't know," Hermes said. "Anywho, I have claimed you. You are coming to live with me in Olympus. I must go. Rayah will show you you're way back."

I sigh and look away as he dissapears.

No...Alyx was. We were identical.

I tighten my jaw and feel Nic's hand on my shoulder.

"Stop thinking of it," he whispers, "He wouldn't want that."

"You can't come with me..." I whisper back.

"I know. But you'll be safer. You'll visit, I'm sure."

I shake my head and sit back down, crossing my arms. Both brothers... What world rips a kid of that?
