My experimentation with image-editing software. Feedback is appreciated. (And I know the sketches iris is squarish.) And warning: You may want to zoom out a bit now.
Hi there! You did a really good job from what I can see. The sketch is realistic, and the edited version is not bad either, especially for a beginner.
The main difference I noticed between the sketch and the digitally colored version is that you lost a lot of the shading in the second one. For instance, the pupil and the ring around it are just solid colors. You can usually get away with solid black for the pupil, but the coloring around it kind of lacks shade and definition. I don't know what program you used, but I would suggest taking a soft tool like an airbrush and just gently adding light and dark tones here and there. It may seem time consuming, but in the end the colors will really stand out a lot better.
Next, I really like how you shaded the white of the eye on the digital version ^_^ That worked really well. I would say that the outline of the eye is a little thick, though. I would make it thinner and maybe even a little darker.

Hi! So then, straight to the point, I like the sketch better, but it still needs work. The pupil is the wrong shape (but you already know that..), and if you want to get even more detail, look closer at an eye and you'll see the line of the eye where it meets the skin is not thin but in fact there is the weird wet bit there (i dont know what its called). In the corner you've drawn part of it, but try continuing it along the bottom of the eye. If you plan on shading it, keep it light as it relects the light therefore almost appears as white as the eye. Also, there's no lashes.. I get there hard to draw but try doing short, thin, free lines on the outside and get slightly longer in the middle. Remember to overlap them and do the bottom lashes as well:)
Oh and the pupil.. there is three sections on yours, when really there is only the coloured part and the actual iris. Perhaps keep the line between them and little thiner..
As for the edited version, which i dont know much about since i dont personally use the computer to edit or play with my art, but I would suggest making the brush size small and put in a line of light/ reflection along the bottom of the eye. (the wet bit again)
But anyway, I think you've made a good start here. A few small touch ups would make it look really photorealistic:)
