The Moosehead Tavern [2]

Jace stumbles backwards at Rayah's words, not understanding how she could do this to him after... His eyes set on Nic again and a tear slips down his face. He slids to the floor and looks up at her, wondering where the girl he really knew was.
"After him..." He points to Nic. "I-I thought we were - "
He stops himself, setting a hand over his mouth to keep from sobbing.

A tear runs down my cheek and I kneel down next to him. "I-" I couldn't speak. My saddness taking over. "Why are you crying?" I asked wiping his tears.

He shrugs her touch away and buries his face in his arms, allowing his grief and newfound heartbreak to spill out.

I put my hand over my mouth. "Jace? I-I'm sorry. Please..." I tried to make him look up at me but he pulled away. I stood back up and Zeus was gone. Where did he go? I looked around and he was knowhere to be found. I went in the corner and sat at table. Trying to hide the true heartbreak.

Joseph and Sai watch as the two lovers part, their own hearts hanging heavy in empathy. Not long ago, had something similar happened to the small family, leading to Sai's departure and Joseph's quest. After going through it, he couldn't bear watch it again.
"Jace, she's still here." He whispers. "She didn't leave."
Sai walks over to Rayah and sits beside her.
"He's been thorugh a lot." She tells her. "You've been through a lot. But his brother's body is still lying in arm's reach of him. You're a heroine, he knows that, but grief does things to the mind that no one can understand.Given time, everything will be back the way it was."

I looked over at Sai. "I just lost three sisters. Three. I-I don't know what to do. I mean, I told him that because it was the best option." I buried my head in my hands.

"It might have been the best option, we'll never know." Sai says. "But he's relying on you to be his crutch, just like you're relying on him to be the same. He's lost in this world without his brother. From the looks of him, he doesn't know what to do either."

I looked over at Jace. He was crying, and Joseph was with him. I looked back over at Sai. "I-I don't think it's going to work out." I crossed ny arms. "And I'm worried on other things. I still need to tell my mom a bunch of stuff and I still need to train..." I started crying again. "But I do Love him and he knows that."

"What about the prophecy?" Sai brings up. "They're never wrong, you know."

"I don't know what you mean by The prophecy. I have no idea what it is." I buried my head in my legs.

"Kelly said something about you two.." Sai says. "I think I remember the exact words."

"Childhood friends grown up together,
A love born though hardship,
A marriage in heaven,
with twins,
with the powers of Zeus." She repeats.

I decided to just go make up with him. This can't get any worse. I slowly
Got up and walked back over to him, and sat down next to him. "Hey." I wanted to smile but couldn't. The pain overcoming my happyness.

Thank you Also, sorry if the below sounds a little mean. He did just basically watch his brother's death and is a little bitter.

Jace hesitantly lifts his gaze to meet Rayah's, noticing the pain in her eyes too. He stays silent, not wiping the tears but instead letting her see what she'd done to him, and waits for her to speak.

I looked over at Jace and felt more pain. I had to look away, I can't stand to see him like that. "Jace, I know it was sudden. But this is something you and me need to work out." I looked in his eyes and couldn't help but force a smile.

Jace still says nothing, unable to look her in the eyes anymore. He watches Joseph and Kalen walk to Sai and can't help but wonder if he could be Joseph one day, if he could have that.
With Rayah, he could.
Swallowing, he wipes only one side of his face and looks down, waiting for her to continue.
