Numaria

Numaria was feeling hot and slightly cross in this sticky weather, so she swiftly flew towards the small lake, feeling a quick dip was necessary on such a day. Once she found it, she made a graceful swan dive into the water, sighing as the water quickly cooled down her scales. She popped back up to the surface, swimming slowly, enjoying the feeling. Suddenly she heard voices, making her jump so badly her scales changed to the same light blue of the water.

Looking down the beach she saw two dragons about 75 yards away from her. One of them was Addie, her dear friend. She didn't know the young male she talked to though. Sneaking out of the water and blending in with the rocks and sand, she crept closer and closer before finally being right behind them.

"So what exactly are we talking about?" she asked, revealing herself suddenly.

Edala

I wrap myself around my two eggs hiding them from the other dragon's sight as they enter my cave. "You've come to help me?" I ask the white female.

Is there a DT for this? I'm not entirely sure what the "mission" we're talking about is.

*Basically the remaining healthy dragons have been tasked with finding the cure and/or cause of the disease. Also, if they fail they've been ordered not to return and try to find somewhere far away to live. So really the story can go in two different directions. Depending on how everyone feels. As for a DT, no I haven't made one yet*

*Thank you!*

Adelinda:

Addie jumped slightly as Numaria appeared behind her. "So what exactly are we talking about?" she asked.

"The mission," Adelina said, grooming a couple of scales into position. "Pyr here was just going to join me into the city, weren't you? Oh, you guys haven't met, have you? Pyratis, this is Numaria. Shall we fly?" My friends nodded, and with a few wingstrokes we took off towards Dragon City. The others were waiting for us in the central square.

I enter the the cave and came to a weak looking dragon that was curled up looking very small."You've come to help me?" the dragon asked me.
"Something made me stop and I heard you ask for help and I wanted to help right away" I said well looking around the dark gloomy cave.
"Well I felt something land and i was thinking it was my mate coming back finally?" the dragon explaned.
"I'm sorry to give you false hope my name is Icesse but I go by Ice and you are?"I asked.
"My name is Edala" she said.
"You look like you need some food I'll be back soon with the biggest animal I can find" I said as I left the cave.

Numaria

As they touched down, she heard two dragons whispering about her lovely wings. Proudly she spread them wider to show off the colours reflecting on the sidewalk.

"Put those away, this is serious," Addie rolled her eyes.

With a grumble, she neatly folded her wings in. Pyr stirred restlessly.

"When does it start? I think we should just let people take off on their own, why the big meeting?"

"Shhhhh," Numaria said gently, as a wise old dragon flew up in front of the crowd.

"Welcome everyone..."

Echo

Echo stayed crouched in the shadows as the meeting began. He fluttered his wings a little, shifting into a more comfortable position. He was itching to take off, but he understood the importance of strategy, and was content to listen to anything the elders thought was important.

Three younger dragons touched down in front of him--a little wildly, he noted--one of them stretching out her wings for all to see. "Put those away, this is serious!" the other female hissed.

"When does it start?" the youngest one, a rare red dragon, grumbled. "I think we should just let people take off on their own. Why the big meeting?"

"Because," Echo growled, startling the young drakes as he slunk out of the shadows, "we don't want fledgelings flying off without a plan, now do we?"

I returned with a fat deer and put it down in front of Edala and she looked so happy to get this food. She got up and she was very tall and showed me her two eggs and said "thank you for helping me." she finished the deer and curled up with the eggs again and fell asleep. I wanted to help this dragon any way I could because I know how hard it would be hard to leave eggs for mother have a bond with them. I was so shocked by when my eggs all didn't even make it to there first hour of being a egg for the shell was to thin. So I set off for another deer for when Edala wakes up she will have food right away I will not leave until I have helped her.

::::::

I got back and put two deer down and went to the far side of the cave a curled up and fell asleep.

P.s. You all leave with out me I have a plan to meet up later with Edala some how.

Pyratis:

Addie closed her eyes, shaking her head at the older dragons words. Whirling Pyr bared his fangs, flaring his wings out behind. Golden eyes flashed with fury. "No one tells me what to do! I'm fine on my own."

Addie's tail came up and swatted him gently on the head. A silent reprimand to tone it down a little. She glanced back at the black and spoke to both him and Numaria. "You must have at least heard of Pyr even if you haven't met him. The orphan red who showed up a few years ago? Walked all the way to dragon city from his birthing cave? Ring any bells?"

Scraping a talon across the ground Pyr dug a groove in the stone, sending up a shower of sparks. "I can take care of myself." He muttered sullenly.

Numaria

"That sounds familiar," she recalled.

"Yes wonderful," the old dragon said."However, the reality is that many of us are orphans. That's the mission's purpose, young ones."

Numaria's scales bristled a bit at his tone. It made her feel very childish, which infuriated her as she felt very mature for her age.

"I think he understands that. I don't think he understood why we're meeting to discuss a mission we all know about," she snapped.

Echo

Echo sat up a little straighter, giving the dragon some space. "There's no need for arguing," he said diplomatically. "I know everyone understands the basics of the mission, but I think the elders have a few more specifics they'd like to go over."

The other dragons turned around, still miffed, but satisfied with his answer. Echo wrapped his tail around his feet and fixed his gaze on the young red drake. He had heard many things about Pyratis, most of them things he wanted to see himself before believing. He had given the group a vague answer on purpose--the others had already seemed a little upset, and he didn't want their first meeting to be too confrontational. He had been asked by the elders to accompany Pyratis and anyone else that went with him. The little red dragon showed great potential, they said, all he needed was a little honing.

Echo looked up from Pyratis as one of the elders stepped forward. "Welcome, everyone..."

*perfect, but a word of warning. Echo is going to have his claws full. Espesially since Pyr can dissapear at will.*

Pyratis:

"I should have just kept snoozing." Pyr thought as he fought to stay awake. All of the Ancient Dragons loved to talk. They could go on and on for hours. He fought to pay attention to the speech that was being made. Most of it was send off stuff. A ceremony to give hope to the dragons that were being left behind. Pyr understood that, hope was a precious thing after all.

"... branch out in many directions, to the far reaches of our kingdom and beyond. If you can search for the source of the Scourge and it's cure. But more then anything we wish for you to live."

Numaria nudged Addie with her wing. "So where should we start."

"I think we go south-west." Pyr said. To the Hadarak mountains and the islands beyond them. Most of the really old birthing caves are in that region. That's where everything started."

Numaria

She was a bit taken back by his comment. She hadn't expected a dragon so young to make such a good observation.

"I agree," Addie whispered.

"...we mustn't all go together as one, but don't go alone. We don't know who or what's out there, so it's best to go in small groups..." the elder droned.

Several dragons around her flapped their wings or flicked their tails anxiously. Everybody was ready to go find the cure. To come back a hero. Butterflies flitted in her stomach as she thought about the risks. No cure meant no home. The dragons weren't welcome back until they found a cure. Even if there was none. Numaria shivered at the thought of failure.

"...and on that note, good luck everyone! Stay safe, stay alert, and stay alive," the elder concluded curtly.
