House of Night *Started*

After class was over, I headed to my dorm. I was on my way when i passed Kelly. I pulled out my iPod and started listening to music as i went. I opened the dorm to my room, seeing it was empty. I hope they didn't stick some idiot with me, I thought as i flopped onto a bed.

Betheny--I think it would make more sense if Ethan knew more about spells and rituals since he is being mentored by the spells and rituals teacher.

Ethan|Nyx's Temple

When we got in Nyx's temple I immediatly went to grab the supplies we needed. A bag of salt, candles, a lighter, lavender, and white sage. I tied the sage and lavender together and lit it on fire until it started to smoke then I blew out the flame.
"We need to cleanse ourselves before we cast the circle. We smudge the herbs on ourselves while taking deep, calming breaths and thinking happy thoughts." I explained to Zoey. Athena nodded her agreement while she set the candles up accordingly; air: yellow and east; fire: red and south; water: blue and west; earth: green and north; spirit: purple and center. I made a circle of salt on the floor and we after we were all cleansed we stepped inside of it. After we stood with our candles I sent a message to Nyx.

"Let us see the truth inside- so Zoey Redbird, your daughter, may serve you with pride." I started the spell by calling on all of the elements.
"Come air,sweet, soft touch of Nyx breath divine
Blow to us concealing clouds past
It is the truth we do incline
The truth revealed through this circle we cast"

I lit the candle and Zoey said, "Air please joined our circle." A mighty whoosh! of air circles around her. She had an affinity for air that's for sure. Zoey laughed in joy. I moved on to the next candle.

"Come fire, your blaze must be strong, sure and true
Strike, burn, destroy what would prevent our sight
Force blinding clouds revealed to us anew
Your illuminating flame expose with truth's light"

Zoey lifted the fire candle and I lit it. "Fire please join our circle." Zoey said. Flames shot from Zoey's body warming the cold temple. Zoey laughed again. She had the affinity for fire also. I moved onto water.

"Come water, flow throughout this circle space
With tide of truth wash clear sight-stealing time
Allowing us to see our Goddesse's face
This circle cleansed sets us free of sightless grime"

Zoey lifted the candle and I lifted it. She called water into our circle. The was a splash and the night turned brilliant shades of blue, turquoise and sapphire-all the different shades of water. Zoey definitly had an affinity for water. I moved onto my own element earth.

"Come earth, rich, verdant truly Goddess blessed
Your bosom nurtures and keeps this spell's key
Open here and blinding truth will be confessed
For the power in your heart, the truth we shall see"

I lit the candles and called earth to the circle. I sniffed the air, it smelled of springtime. I moved finally to Athena who had and amazed/excited look on her face.

"Come spirit, faithful, eternal and wise
Sealed with salt we ask the truth to reveal
New beginnings, new friends you see through our Godesses's eyes
Blinding clouds begone! Spirit's strength we shall feel."

Athena summoned spirit to the circle and a purple glow surrounded us.
Nyx we beg you appear to we
The truth you hold we ask to see

We said the final words to the spell.
Zoey: Air, blow to us concealing clouds past. Fire, strike, burn, destroy what would prevent our sight. Water, with tide of truth wash clear sight-stealing time
Me: Earth, your bosom nurtures and keeps this spell's key
Athena: Spirit, New beginnings, new friends you see through our Godesses's eyes. Spirt, release the truth before our eyes.

Instantly evrything outside the circle ceased to exist and we were transported to a huge garden where a beautiful little girl sat barefoot on the grass. I immediatly knew who she was.
"Nyx," I said placing a fist over my heart and bowing deeply Athena and Zoey followed suit.
"Rise my children," She said and we all stood up. " I understand you wish to know the truth of Zoey's marking?" She asked. Zoey stepped forward.
"Yes please, do I have an affinity for all the elements?" She asked. The goddess nodded. I stared wide-eyed at Zoey. Wow Nyx must hae special plans for her, I thought.
Nyx turned her attention to me. "Yes Ethan, i have special plans for all three of you, but they will come in time. I must also warn you the plans I have for you don't all involve good things, there will be times when you will face great evils, ad those times are closer than you think." Athena, Zoey, and I looked at one another.
"We will be ready." Athena said strongly. The goddess smiled at her.
"I know you will be my daughter, I know you all will be. It is important that you all stick together and be wary of those who oppose you." I nodded. "Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again my childern." The goddess said and we were transported back to the temple.

*I got some phrases from the spell from Destined the 7th book in the HoN series and changed some of the words around to fit with the purpose of the spell. No copyright infringement was intended.

Kelly Myers

I felt the energy almost immediatly, I went straight to the Temple of Nix not knowing what I find but huge waves of energy were everywhere, I ran to the Temple as fast as I could opening the door's thankful that I was first here. side I found Athena, Ethan, and Zoey.

"What in the goesses name are you three doing here?" I asked.

The guy on the left got up and I reconized as Ethan, and walked over to me.

"Your not going to believe this! Five! She holds the elements at her command!" Ethan said excitement filling his voice.

I grew wide eyed and looked at Zoey who was now looking at me. I couldn't say I didn't see this coming I had the affinity to see into the future. Zoey walks over to me with a big smile on her face.

"So the vision's come true." I said.

Hey MasterLHeart, in your last post you referred to Ethan as a girl, just wanted to remind you he is a guy.

Don't forget, Zoey is from Cherokee descent so she knows about cleansing and herbs and smudging. Just a reminder.

Zoey

My smile faded a little. What in the world was she talking about? What visions did she have about me? Something inside my mind clicked and I remembered this was the House of Night, people had affinities for things like visions and Nyx often gave her children visions of important things. So whatever it was that Kelly had seen meant something important. The words Nyx had just told us repeated in my mind.

"What have you been seeing?" I asked. Kelly was definitely someone I wanted on my side, but I didn't know if I could stand her. She would have to be nicer if we were going to be friends, that was for sure.

There are more people on your side than you realize. They just haven't chosen you yet. Nyx's voice whispered to me...

~Neferet~

Though the boy, Pharaoh, was mostly healed, he still had burns on his face. It was her job to make him better, to show him compassion, because he was hurt and she was his High Priestess. She was obligated--and she hated it. She hated pretending to be nice, pretending to care, even though she didn't. Neferet hated waiting for what was coming, for the power she deserved to be hers. She wanted it now, not when the immortal would arise. She hated this boy because he was helpless, and helplessness is weakness to her.

Neferet hid it, though. She hid it all. With a smile planted on her lips, she radiated happiness and kindness. Neferet knew she would look like an angel, though she was the exact opposite. To this boy she would be beautiful, flawless, but she didn't need a boy bowing to her. She needed her immortal.

"Hello, Pharaoh. How do you feel?" Neferet asked sweetly. This boy was an empath, and that meant if she let one bit of impatience, one bit of anger slip past her wall, he would be able to tell. She was so well practiced with hiding her emotions from the empaths at the House of Night that she didn't even have to think. She knew he felt the glee radiating from her.

"I think I'm doing better, when do you think I can go back to my dorm?" Impatient. He was impatient. Neferet didn't have to be an empath to tell that. He was planning something. She skimmed his mind in search of a clue. He was planning something alright, but it had nothing to do with her. She smiled at him, giving a small laugh.

"Let me heal you completely and then I will release you to your dorm." Neferet placed a hand on either side of the boys burned face and closed her eyes, concentrating. She could feel the energy flow through her, leaving true happiness inside her. It heated her palms, lifted her spirit. She felt it leave her and flow into him, filling the boy with the same joy she felt when she called on her healing power.

Power. That was what she always wanted, what she always needed. Neferet had to be the one in charge, she always needed to be the one making the commands. They needed to bow to her, to treat her like she was a goddess. Power was what Neferet was hungry for.

When she felt the boy was healed, the removed her hands from his face, letting the happiness of her power flow through her before it disappeared. Neferet smiled down at him then, moving gracefully to the door, called over her shoulder to him. "You're free to do whatever you like."

Pharaoh Draco

Once I was sure Neferet was gone, I got on my feet and headed off to the temple. I couldn't help but wonder what to do with myself. I missed my sketching class and it was all Calypso's fault that I got burned. I was bent on getting back at her for the damage she caused me, but question was how to get to where she was without her suspecting I was around. I needed help from not just Kelly, but from Nyx herself if she willed it. I sat down in the temple, then said lowly, "Goddess Nyx, I ask for your help. One of your daughters has tricked another to hurt me and now I feel like I must have revenge. I ask of you to help me exact my revenge as painlessly as possible. I know you've given me the affinity for empathy, but it feels like other vampyres regard me as nothing special. I could give emotions as well as sense them and can alter them if I have the chance. If there's anything I could do, then show me the way and I'll follow."

Athena | Nyx's Temple

I was going truely hyper, probably sending any empath near me mental. The goddess Nyx had allowed us to both see and hear her, very rare. I felt bad that I'd forgotten that Ethan was so good at spells and rituals, he had a natural flare for it. More so than me anyway. Then Kelly walked in.
"So my visions came true," she said after Ethan had blurted his giddyness. It wasn't a question it was a statement. This didn't bode well.
"What have you been seeing?" Zoey replied, stepping forwards and dangerusly close to the edge of the circle.
"Whoa! Zoey stop right there!" I cried out, "You have to dismiss the elements before anyone can either enter or exit the circle unless you have all representations of the elements and they together alow access..." Tailed off as I tried to remember proper reason fully. In truth I just made up my version why, I only knew that you shouldn't. Ethan eyed me, calling my bluff, but said nothing. Calypso walked in, oblivious to anything that had just gone on.
"I'm Calypso, Zoey's new room mate. How y'all doing tonight?"
"Awh hell!" I murmured. If something kicked off now, we would be trapped in the circle unable to do anything.

I jumped up eyes wide. I was suppose to be at the temple! I pushed open the door to my dorm, ran outside and slammed it shut. I pulled out a piece of paper with directions to the temple from my pocket, and ran to the temple. I managed to get there in time to see Zoey in the the circle close to the edge. I was stunned feeling the tension in the air around Athena.

Sorry if some of this makes no since. I was writing on it then stopped... then tried to pick up where I left off but kinda got confused xD

Zoey

Great, an audience. I moved away from the edge of the circle and back to the middle. I still felt all of the elements inside me and around us in the circle, but it didn't keep the tension out of the air. I watched with wide eyes as the two girls glared at each other. If no one could enter the circle without permission, then I wasn't sure if I wanted to close it or not. But keeping the circle up wasn't going to do much besides keep them off of each other--for now.

"Thank you spirit, you may leave," I whispered, blowing out the purple candle and moving to the north and to earth. "Thank you earth, you may leave." I blew out the green candle then moved to the west. "Thank you fire, you may leave." I blew out the red candle then moved to the south. "Thank you water, you may leave." I blew out the blue candle. Finally, I moved to the east. "Thank you air, you may leave." I blew out the yellow candle.

With every element that left, I felt like a part of me was leaving too, and when that part of me was gone, I wasn't as happy as I was before. The string of light that had tied all of the elements together faded. I sighed uncontrollably, thinking of how much I wished the circle could have been cast forever.

Kelly and Calypso stared at each other--or maybe glower was a better word--for a little while longer before Calypso's eyes met mine and she smiled sweetly. It made my stomach turn to think that she was going to be my roommate. At least she was a fifth former and I wouldn't have to deal with her for too long.

"Congratulations," Calypso said, not seeming to really mean it. I checked my phone, then almost sighed again. It was a little past four. We needed to be back in our dorms before anyone noticed we were out here or we would be in trouble. Big trouble.

I am stuck please help!

Kelly Myers

"Pharaoh!" I call out, he notices me right away and comes running.

Calypso backs up unsteadily, I summon lightning to one hand and fire to the other. Pharaoh pulls a dagger and readies up for a fight. Ethan and Athena back away not wanting to be caught in the middle of the fight.

"Hope the tension ain't to think for you Pharaoh." I ask in a semi urgent tone.

Calypso folds her arms and chuckles probably thinking her super speed will get her out of this. But I had one affinity that was just as fast as her. Lightning.

Zoey

It was bad enough that Calypso and Kelly were about to go at it again. What made it worse was that the freshly healed Pharaoh was in the fight as well. To top off all of that, they were about to throw down in Nyx's temple--the most sacred place at the House of Night.

Great, I thought. Just great. I wasn't about to just sit around and let all of this happen. Though I had only been Marked two days, I was already loyal to Nyx and I wasn't about to let them disrespect her because of pride.

The three of them were sizing each other up, looking for a weak spot, and smiling like they were psycho killers when a thought occurred to me. Why hadn't I already thought of it? I had just discovered my affinities not seconds before Calypso had walked through the door. Why hadn't I realized I could use my Goddess given gifts to stop the three of them?

"Stop it." I hadn't said it loud, but my voice rang with authority as Nyx's voice came from my mouth. The three of them faltered and I saw Athena and Ethan glance at me a little shocked. It didn't stop them, though. They were soon focused on each other again, getting back in psycho-killer-mode.

Maybe that was what broke me, or maybe it was Nyx's frustration, but I couldn't stand to watch them ignore the voice of their Goddess, despite who's mouth it came out of. I closed my eyes and centered myself, taking three deep breathes.

"Fire come to me," I said, my voice my own again. "If they want the heat of a fight, show them heat." It didn't take long before their skin became red with the heat fire was putting out. Even I broke into a sweat, though it was definitely because of the energy I was using to keep the element from burning them completely.

"Earth, come to me." I could smell the wheat and feel the grass beneath my feet almost immediately. "They think they know strength. Show them your strength." The ground below us began to shake, though the walls remained still. It made me feel oddly nauseous to watch the room remain in one place but have the ground shift underneath me. No matter, I continued.

"Air come to me." I felt the element obey me as wind whipped around my face."They want to be cold, to show no kindness to one another. Show them true cold." The air around us became so cold I could see my breath. By now, I was feeling weak. If I was going to be a true prodigy for Nyx, I was going to have to work a little more to keep my strength up while doing this kind of thing. I didn't need to be passing out while doing the Goddess's will.

I had never truly meant to hurt anyone. Maybe that was how everyone had gotten out of the temple in one piece, but at that moment, Pharaoh, Calypso, Kelly, and even Athena and Ethan, had fallen to the shaking ground. I was too lost in concentration to have realized that Athena was speaking to me until she was right beside me on the ground, clutching my arm and shaking me. I turned to her with half closed lids.

"You have to stop!" Athena was saying to me. "Nyx wouldn't want you destroying her temple. You're going to hurt someone!" At first her words didn't make any sense to me, but as she repeated "You have to stop" over and over again to me, they clicked. I was going to hurt someone.

With everything inside me, I let the elements go, told them to stop. I even managed a whispered "Thank you" before I collapsed. I remember thinking that my head was still spinning and I felt sick, but then, as my eyes slid closed and I caught one last glimpse of Ethan's worried face, I felt nothing but sorry.
