Heath
JD burst in through the doors, a big grin splitting his face. He bobbed his head back and forth, electric. Each of his arms was wrapped around a girl- where he had even found them, I had no idea.
"Hey Heath, want to have some fun before we play?" JD's voice was a gabbled mixture of unbridled excitement and childish impatience. I shrugged.
"I'd rather play JD. When you're done, perhaps you would consider singing? You know, like we're here for." I was disappointed byut not surprised. At out last competition, Mike had had to do all the vocals; JD was too busy back in our hotel room to even turn up. I hadn't been angry about loosing, just at the fact that he had been so selfish. It wasn't happening again, not at such an important competition.
I grabbed my bass and slipped it into its case. Mike, now changed, took hold of his guitar and we exited, both grumbling about JD's erratic behaviour. I knew there was some free time before official rehearsals, and it was always when jamming with Mike that I laid down my best basslines, so a little extra practice would be a good idea. Alex shouted something about "coming in five", but I missed what he was saying as I slammed the door.
"Angry?" Mike asked. I nodded.
"Good," he replied, grinning at me, "I'm up for a bit of grunge today."
