*Any people with shapeshifting abilities must be part Weir. It's an ability unique to the race but it continues to pass through diluted bloodlines. I think people might have the wrong concept about HIVE.

The school instills a rather warped code of ethics in their students but it's still there. Hive has a saying that they produce villains, not monsters. Also students live at the school year-round, although there are still breaks.*

Renn Ariyal:

Renn slid the bedroom window up and clambered through into his bedroom. He had been at the school for a little over a week, and hadn't spent a single day in the generic dorm room. White walls, white carpets, white furniture... it was stifling enough even if his roommate didn't take up plenty of space. Nothing at all like sleeping on a carpet of green grass under a starry sky.

He winced as his roommate, who must be in the shower, hit a particularly high note in his boisterous song. Renn had already bathed in a hidden stream in the forests, because god knew he never got anytime in the bathroom as it was.

Bending down he picked up the bag loaded down with, what did the humans call them again, text-books. At least the titles seemed interesting: Deathtraps: Their Use and Care, Effective Threats, Elementary Evil, Global Domination: What You Need to Know!, A Beginner's Guide to Doomsday Weapons. There were also a few he hadn't bothered to look at just yet.

Renn glanced back out the window, guaging time by the position of the sun, rather then looking at his watch. Opening ceremonies would be starting soon and he needed to get going. As he turned to leave he caught sight of his distorted reflection in the window. Renn stifled the urge to lash out with his fist. While satisfying breaking the window would also be painfull.

"Whoever heard of a red unicorn." He muttered under his breath as he jumped nimbly back out through the window and dropped three stories. If he had just been normal he could have stayed home, with his mother in the Weir-world. He wouldn't be in this strange place where he still didn't have a clue about anything. Renn shoved the morose thoughts to the back of his mind as he raced across the field heading towards joint-school auditorium.

Ei Chase

Ei sat on her bed, her legs crossed and a satisfied smile spread on her lips. Her head swayed back and forth gently as she played with a small snake she found in one of the school's gardens, her text books set carefully on the bedside table next to her. The snake slithered up her arm and hissed gently in her ear. Ei smiled.

"I think I'll name you John," she mumbled. "Hello John. How are-"

Her words are cut off by a loud banging and she smiles even wider. A girl rushes into the room and snatches a few bags off the unoccupied bed and tries to make a hasty retreat but is stopped by Ei's smooth voice.

"Lisa," Ei drawls, "where are you going?"

"Away from here. I got a room change, freak."

Ei frowns and sets John on the bed, leaving him to slither around aimlessly on the covers.

"But I thought we were having so much fun. I thought we were friends."

The girl turns, showing the long scar going across her face from where Ei got bored and went into one of her fits. Ei smiles and gets up before walking over to Lisa and tracing her little masterpiece.

"We are not friends," Lisa hisses, fire spitting from her finger tips.

"But you just got here," Ei whines.

"And now I'm just leaving."

With that she turns and storms away. Ei lets out a loud laugh and returns to the bed.

"You'll stay, won't you, John?"

The snake hisses loudly and slithers off the bed and onto the floor.

"I know," she continues. With a sigh she gets off the bed and grabs her shoes and her bag before heading out of the door towards the auditorium.

This stupid assembly... Curse this school for forcing me to be surrounded by these...

Ei pauses in her musing and gives a glare to the courtyard filled with students. She growls lowly in her throat and turns away, walking quicker to avoid the upcoming fit she feels gathering in her chest.

Forcing me to be around these vile creatures. These wastes of space and air...

Ei rolls her eyes as she enters the huge auditorium that's just starting to fill up. She takes a spot on the top bleacher in the corner, away from possible body contact, and makes sure to give a threatening glare to anyone that tries to get too close.
A pale imitator of a girl in the sky.

Renn Ariyal- HIVE:

Renn poked his muzzle out to peer around the bleachers he was hiding under. He had shifted to beast form soon after leaving his room. His ruby pelt shone in the darkness and his wings were tucked neatly away, the crystal horn on Renn's forehead cast a faint rose tinted light.

The school rules merely stated that all students had to attend opening ceremonies, there wasn't one word about acutally being visible. In point of fact Renn wasn't the only one playing truant under the HIVE bleachers.

He glanced up as a girl sat down huffily at the very edge of the bleachers above him. Her defiant glare dared anyone to try to get close to her. Renn noticed a snake curled around the handle of her back pack, it stared at Renn in fascination.

"I hear these things usually degenerate into brawls between the schools." Renn remarked sarcastically to the girl before he remembered that humans weren't used to mind-speech.

The red haired girl jumped and glared around herself suspiciously. "Which one of you jerks said that?" She demanded. Apperantly she hadn't noticed Renn yet.

He blew out a sigh that sounded like a very quiet whinny. "Down here." He told her.

Circe Vivaldi~HERO

Circe sat on one of the highest bleachers on the HERO side of the auditorium. She did what she always did, sensed the mood and made simple social observations, keeping in mind the interactions between certain students. A wolfish looking girl gave her a half-smile and glanced around the auditorium. Circe smiled thinly back, wishing that she could take all of the energy out of the air and silencing the entire room and allowing her just to look and watch the people without having to hear them talk and talk...

The girl moved closer to her.

Circe smiled at her again, straining her mouth, and then got up and crossed the floor, over the unofficial, but no less prominent, barrier between HERO and HIVE, hoping to gauge the aura of that location as well. Students stopped talking and glared at her.

"I think you're lost little girl." One snarky HIVE student called out to her, laughing and rolling her eyes at her friends.

Circe looked at her solemnly but made no move against her. She took in the energy emanating from that side of the room, ignoring the harsh comments and challenges being thrown at her. It felt like anger and unhappiness...but fear as well. Something like intense fear.

"So this is what being a villain must feel like." She sighed to herself. She turned to walk away and take her seat before the assembly began. She checked the clock. 10 minutes more. She continued over to the widely acknowledged HERO side.

"Where are you going honey?" A drawling voice asked behind her. "You can't just expect to come and go as you please, especially around here" The voice laughed cruelly. "Turn around little girl, let's see what you're made of."

Circe turned around and gave the speaker a small, almost mocking smile.

Charlotte Drakes: HERO

Char watched as the girl who she’d half smiled politely at strolled across the room and stood on the H.I.V.E side for a moment. Both sides of the auditorium hushed, their gazes fixated on what might happen.
“What the… Hey, Vanessa, isn’t that Circe?” A boyish voice asked.
Charlotte’s eyes darted to the source in wait of an answer. Why do all boys have to look the same?
“I think so.” A more feminine voice spoke.
She caught the source before rolling her eyes. It was one of those happy-go-lucky girls - the ones who seem to have endless amounts of things to say. Char focused back on the girl who had wandered towards the enemy. A few of them snickered at her while others waited for confrontation. Then she turned away and hesitated for a moment. Charlotte traced her gaze to the clock before centering back on the girl, who seemed to be coming back.
A more heavyset girl in a dark purple dance suit climbed out from the H.I.V.E bleachers and followed her, stopping only in the middle of the floor. She spoke her challenge but Char wasn’t listening anymore. She was just watching. The girl’s knees were slightly bent - resembling an oddly performed fight stance – which eliminated the possibility of shape shifting and brains. Her arms were bent and fingers were curled up at the top of her palm, which eliminated water, wind, and elemental manipulation from her deck. Then there were her eyes… The purple orbs were squinting as if having concentration problems. Bingo! Char flashed a half smile in her accomplishment. This challenger was of mediocre strength and short distance teleportation. How easy…
Charlotte watched as Circe faced the egotistical flower and remained completely calm. She realized she wouldn’t need any help and relaxed her muscles, hoping the others came to the same conclusion. Glancing at the H.I.V.E side, she found that they were practically going mad with the excitement, cheering on the delicate violet. Char couldn’t help but smile and hold it, crossing her arms in a subtle way of daring anyone else to join the brawl.

Circe Vivaldi~HERO

Circe gazed directly at the violet-eyed girl who challenged her. She wasn't entirely sure what the acceptable thing was to do. The easiest would be simply to deplete her entirely of energy and then set her on fire...But that would definitely be frowned upon. She felt the girl from earlier come up behind her. Ah, reinforcement, but for what, this girl was nothing but if more HIVE members joined the fray there could be a problem. But who wanted to shoot the first bullet and instigate the fight? She would let the villains do that, as they have been known to do since their creation. Although she hoped it wouldn't come to that, as all she had wanted to do was feel the energy in the air...

"Hey, don't worry about this one. All she's got is teleportation, and modest strength." The girl from behind her moved to stand next to her. "I'm Char, by the way. I take it you're the infamous Circe."

"You are correct. But I do not want to fight her. It seems we have no choice."

"What did you mean to do when you crossed? You must have suspected something like this to happen." Char looked exasperated.

"I had hoped nothing would happen." Circe replied softly.

The girl who stood in front of them, with glowing violet eyes, suddenly cried out, her voice amplified at least 10 times more than that of a normal person,

"And with that clear movement to arms, demonstrated by the accumulation of forces," she started, indicating to Char, "I declare a battle to properly begin this school year."

She grinned maliciously and students from the HIVE began to rise.

Danny Dapperly- Hero

Danny watched calmly from his place in the bleachers waiting for the fight to break out. He had expected this and was eager to join in the fray. Danny watched each of the HIVE members move to join the girl that had challenged, Circe I recalled hearing someone say the small blonde girls name was. I recognized movements of combat from the HIVE challenger. Before another move could be made I leaped the length of the bleachers and landed next to the two girls. I looked at the both of them putting on my smirk. Putting out my hand to shake to all three of them I introduced myself. "Hello I'm Danny Dapperly." I briefly turned towards the HIVE side before continuing to speak, "I thought you two looked a little out numbered and would like some help."

Danny removed a small disk from his pocket and threw it at the ground instantly it turned into a bo-staff. Both of the girls looked at Danny, Circe appeared completely unfazed but but the brunette girl seemed to welcome Danny's help based upon her expression. She decided to speak at that moment, " My name is Charlotte Drake, Danny and this is Circe. You seem a bit cocky but I welcome someone that seems to know what they're doing."

I took my battle stance and prepared for the first attack.

Circe~HERO

"Danny, do not act impulsively." Circe told him quietly. "I can sense this battle is to start. We have to keep it clean, we should only employ defensive tactics, never offensive."

"Why? It would be so fun see this one scream..." Char narrowed her eyes at a small red unicorn.

"We cannot think like that. We are heroes," Circe sounded a bit regretful, "We cannot lower ourselves to that level."

The floor began to shake and the little red unicorn laughed as it coughed up a pillar of flame, then he shifted into a tall, pale, redhead. The other took the cue and strategically began their attack.

"That was foolish of them." Circe leaned over and muttered to Danny. "Why reveal all of their powers at the beginning, they leave nothing for shock and awe." With that Circe captured the energy from the sunlight streaming in through the windows and created a shield around the three of them.

"This won't last long...ready?"

Quinn Jones: HERO

Quinn watched carefully as the battle set itself up. Three heroes against the all of the H.I.V.E? This wasn't going to end well. With an eagerness to fight, she climbed down from the bleachers but stopped when the almost transparent shield wrapped around her three classmates. She would wait until needed.
A blonde haired boy in a tank top and shorts stepped beside her, eyes focused on the fight.
"What's happening?" He asked, turning to Quinn.
"You didn't see?" She asked in amazement.
He shook his head, hiding something behind his green eyes. Quinn filled him in before a mammoth gust of fire shot out across the room. The other heroes jumped from the bleachers and stormed towards the small army, provoked and thirsty for a good quarrel.

Anthony Matthews: HERO

Part of Tony told him to stay behind with the girl who had told him how things came to be but the other part of him was screaming for a fight. He left the girl and bolted into the brawl, focusing in on the little unicorn boy. He was almost to him when something bumped into his shoulder and sent him to his knees. His arms quickly covered his head as he tried to pull himself to stand.
“What’s going on here?” A deep voice boomed.
Every hero froze but the villains kept up.
“Stop it!” Another ordered.
Tony stood as the H.I.V.E students ended their contributions to the fight. Everyone spun around trying to find the source of the voices. I didn’t even get to fight… Tony frowned before setting eyes on the only two adults around, when the dread began to sink in.

Jerica- HIVE

My newfound opponents aqquired a funny look on their face. One of the HEROs was about to take the offensive, against his teammates wishes. He was considerably taller then me and he had neat chestnut hair. One of his teammates quickly said his name; Danny.

Danny lashed out at me, swinging his fist in an arc, connecting with my jaw while dodging my inevitable reaction. But I didn't react. My snake, Paul, did. I stood calmy while the cobra untangled itself from around me and curled around Danny's neck. Although cobras traditionally bite, it had been cross-bred with a cobra and a Python, making it more adept to suffocating, but this time I saw Paul was about to bite as well as suffocate.

"Paul," I whispered. Paul didn't bite, if he did the boy would already be dead. Paul kept squeezing tighter. I started to hear cracks and I realized the boy's neck was about to break. I grabbed Paul from his neck and put him around mine. The unicorn/boy standing next to him gave a small smile as the now released boy writhed on the ground.

Circe, one of the HEROs came up to me and looked like she was about to use her energy voodoo crap and strangle me. Instead she just sapped energy from me. It was a nasty feeling, and I immediatly created a tunnel through the earth underneath me. I sank through it and immerged behind her. Then, with very little effort, I brought a wave taller then the arena like place we were in and made it tower over her. She turned around quickly and I brought it crashing down over her head.

I didn't know if she was knocked out or dead, most likely still breathing, but I didn't care.

"Any more takers?"

But then the adults came. There weren't going to be any more opponents.

Circe~HERO

"Damn." Circe muttered, quickly using the kinetic energy from someone passing to regain consciousness. That girl was surprisingly powerful, but ruled by her anger. Still a girl Circe wanted as a teammate. Too bad the division between heroes and villains was so strong.

"Hold fire!" Char yelled, changing quickly back to her human form. "I can hear the adults coming."

"Hm. Yes, we don't want to look like we were fighting, only defending." Circe reasoned. "It's one of the best trump cards heroes have these days."

"Well said. I'll pass the word around." Danny grinned after knocking out his opponent.

The heroes were well assembled on the risers as the adults strolled in.

"I suppose I can learn to like being a hero." Circe turned to Char to say. "We have so many wonderful advantages."

You walk into this room at your own risk, because it leads to the future, not a future that will be but one that might be. This is not a new world, it is simply an extension of what began in the old one. It has patterned itself after every dictator who has ever planted the ripping imprint of a boot on the pages of history since the beginning of time. It has refinements, technological advances, and a more sophisticated approach to the destruction of human freedom. But like every one of the super states that preceded it, it has one iron rule: logic is an enemy and truth is a menace.
— Rod Serling
