Destiny, you have a problem with lying. Worse, you refer to God in
your quote directly after you lied. Tell me, what exactly are you
thinking? What is going through your mind?

Those pictures were not yours. You stole them, then put them through
psykopaint. You then posted them on YWS claiming to have taken the
original picture. You are a thief, and yet you then say, "Whoever is
slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit
than he who takes a city."

You are a liar. Until you apologize to not only me but seek
forgiveness from God as well, I am not allowing you back on YWS.

Nate

This is a message that the creator of this website sent to my friend, I posted a blog about it, read more there.. What does any of this have to do about her faith in God. She pretty much is my blood, and this really hurt us both. I call it cyberbullying. :(

I feel that no girl should have this said to her over a website, or to her face, or anything. I did not think that she was in the wrong, I was there when she made the pictures!!!! We both didn't see this massive outburst coming towards us.
I think that this website is under the wrong management, if you're talking to a young person like this, you shouldn't be talking at all. It could've been worse, but this just draws the line. I'm sure we're not the first ones to get talked to like we're his children or something. I mean, come one, tell me what you think??

ok again I am responding. I just think that you need to talk to Nate about this and see where the problem is. I think that if you go at this with a "Nate is horrible" attitude you more than likely won't get the best feedback. Try to look at this at his out look. But the thing about getting forgiveness from God is a little weird. I don't know how he will enforce that. But again just talk through it with him and try to find the problem.
Again I will be praying.

Yes you are not the first. I have witnessed other run-ins like this.

But I think you are blowing this a bit out of proportion. This is more of a plea or rant that a literary piece :(
One blog entry is enough. Nate especially bans people for "blowing things out of proportion or causing unnecessary trouble." Be very careful. I would edit this out, and just wait it out and pray for everyone involved.
This may get things worse, for yourself this time. Please take my advise and leave this be, comfort your friend, and just use your blog.

Honestly, I don't think this letter was all that harsh. IF (Notice the word IF) She stole the photo even by accident, It's still a problem. Even if it was edited from the original, its a problem if it was done without permission. It seems like Nate reacted appropriately and didn't out-step his rights as admin and creator. Cyber bulling is much more severe and unwarranted. Also, If she quoted something from the bible in a attempt to avoid a ban, That would be a reason for his including God in the email. Hopefully this can be resolved Quickly and with a positive outcome. I also agree with my peer, I would try and talk with Nate with a open mind and try to understand his point of view to rectify the problem. Again, Hopefully this will be resolved.

I just wanted to post here as well, more to clarify the situation than anything else. I am, of course biased since I am part of the moderating squad who decided on this ban but...

1. The act was not accidental as the member had plagiarised song lyrics in the past and received a two week ban, an explanation and a warning for doing do.

2. The ban was temporary to start with. It was a two week ban and I'm not going to quote the response that had it extended into a permanent (though still retractable by apologies) ban. We were being kind to give a two week ban as it was since preachergirl had plagiarized before and had it explained to her what she'd done wrong. That time her reaction was much more gentle and appropriate which is why nothing further came of it. Until the repeated offence that is.

3. We remove members who plagiarise from this site to defend other members, such as yourself. If a member is willing to copy the work of another and re-post it on this site, then what's to stop them taking your work from this site and posting it elsewhere? Think before you attack the rules. They're here to defend you. Consider them a wall if you will. Yes, they keep members out, but they also keep everyone else tucked up nice and safe inside.

I don't know about the theft and I won't talk about whether the whole ban thing was right or wrong- What I find troubling is this part:
You are a liar. Until you apologize to not only me but seek
forgiveness from God as well, I am not allowing you back on YWS.

with all due respect to Nate- involving religion over this matter is uncalled for, further more- the fact he outburst, and said things like "you're a thief!" is problematic whether or not he was right- when you're in charge- there is a certain way to express yourself- and this isn't it.
but to say that she has to seek god's forgiveness is plainly wrong: this site- all though containing religious members- isn't a religious site, and I think the person who is the face of the site shouldn't say such a thing- it's a bit oppressive even.

Now, I don't know who's right- but I think the certain choice of words and expression used is quite regrettable- I wouldn't have expected such a thing to come from any member of this site- certainly not from a mod or an admin.

I think some sort of misunderstanding must've felt- and I trust the judgement of the management regarding of bans- but the way of expression chosen here was disturbing, distasteful and greatly inappropriate. I don't know about people being banned for
"blowing things out of proportion or causing unnecessary trouble."
but if this is true, it's just as disturbing, al though I have a hard time believing such a thing.

whether the ban was right or not- I do not know- but I have to agree no one should receive such a message, especially on a site that values clean language and calm behaviour such as this. if such a thing was said, then in my opinion, whatever the circumstances may be- she's owed an apology.

I say what I say because I know in this site- you aren't banned just because you think the admin was wrong and dared to express your opinion- I trust the YWS to be a fair, democratic place, I think you should do the same instead of being afraid to speak up your mind.

A screenshot would have been more appropriate. Considering the questionable nature of this, I'm not sure if I should believe that's an accurate quote.

Not to mention these complaints should be directed privately to mods, in my opinion. All your doing is trying to rile up users who aren't involved in the situation.

People don't get banned for blowing things out of proportion. If you get banned, there is a well-documented case against you of you actively breaking the rules. The YWS staff has to agree to ban you first, on hard evidence.

These are the reasons why we ban people:

1. You are under 13 and do not have parental permission of being on this site. This is because of U.S. federal laws designed to protect children who visit internet sites.

2. You plagiarize/steal intellectual property and claim it as your own.

3. You sexually exploit a minor on YWS.

4. You will not stop harassing our members.

5. You are a spam-bot and thus are not a real person.

6. Encouraging acts of terrorism/Nazism.

As far as whether Nate was out of line? That's when you go to another moderator and contact us about it. We'll sort it out and be objective about it. Believe or not, we were chosen partly because we can look at things objectively, even when it concerns people that we happen to like on YWS, and partly because we can be very diplomatic as well. Contacting us is better than making a big fuss out of things. I mean, I guess you can make a big fuss about it too. You're allowed to do that as well. But, that just means that we can't do our jobs properly and so it pretty much screws up the whole process.

In any case, this hardly matters now.

There really wasn't a need to post this in your blog AND in The Lounge (or General Articles, before Snoink moved it).
Airing your dirty laundry, especially when it involves the sensitive issue of religion, ought to be done privately. Like inkwell has mentioned, this just drags other people into the conflict unnecessarily, just so you can feel validated.

O.O

Nate did it for a reason, and I think he is amazing. Did any of you take into account that maybe just maybe, more goes into it then "oh I don't like her, she get's banned?"

You guys wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Nate, and yet yet you complain when he does something for the good of the site.
So, all you people who are saying "Oh Nate was way out of line."

Take a minute and think.
Is YWS important to you? Cause if it isn't, why are you here. And if it is, WHAT a way to show your appreciation for someone who works around the clock on YWS by talking about him because he did his job.

Way to be appreciative. That's all I got to say.

I'm sorry if this is rude, but I just wish people would appreciate Nate for all he does, and not attack him and blow things out of proportion because of something that is done.

Do not say anything bad about Nate. He has been managing this site for quite sometime. And it is based off of fairness and giving work that is truly yours. If Nate said it, then that means he has grounds behind him to say so. If not then yall need to talk to him. Show him that all of you are the true originalists. I have been on this site for a good bit, (with different accounts) and have found that Nate is fair with judgement. Sorry, but i am not the yelling type this is not too bash you but to give you my own opinion. If she has proof its her original work, show it to Nate and he will change his mind.
