"I am President Snow. Welcome to the Hunger Games!"

Plot:

A crazed fan of Suzanne Collin's Hunger Games series decides he wants to experience the books first hand, so he begins the Hunger Games for real. Taking normal kids from their ordinary lives, he gives them roles from the first book (such as Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark...), and sets them into a forest way out of reach, forcing the kids against each other in hope of re-acting every scene from the first book. He calls himself President Snow though he's actually a retired agent, and still has access to many things in the American agency. Hiding behind a mask, he broadcasts the action and his opinions, taking over every single screen, television, mobile phone of the world, hoping everyone will experience his love for the Hunger Games as much as he does. This game is different from the one Miss Collins' wrote about in her books though, they're real life, and killing someone is not something easy to deal with.

Information:

So I think I've made it clear enough already but this storybook takes place in a forest that is so secluded that not even the army knows about. As a character of the SB, you're taken off of the street from either walking to school, catching a bus trip or visiting a friend's place, and you're taken to this very forest. You wake up in random areas of the forest, alone, scared and bewildered. You were chosen by 'President Snow' because he believes you share an uncanny appearance to the characters in the Hunger Games first book, but you could be compeltely different personality-wise. Now, this SB isn't just a re-do of the Hunger Games in a gross fashion. It's a completely new story so Peeta and Katniss in this story will most probably not fall in love; Katniss could be the first to die and Rue may very well be a boy. Everything is compeltely different; after all Katniss Everdeen is not a person you'll just pick up off of the streets.

If you don't fight in these Hunger Games, you will be killed. From a hidden guns, poisined water ways, an 'accidental' fire...Who knows, but President Snow will kill you. He will also try and make the story occur as that is why he gathered you all in the forest in the first place. But let's face it, you're fighting to the death, Peeta and Katniss will more probably not fall in love. As you're forced to play this game, the army is trying to find you although they're not doing as well as they thought.

Setting:

Just like in the story, you're fighting in a forest. It has streams, waterfalls and as many deadly predators you can think of. From somewhere, President Snow is watching, using cameras set up in the trees, banks and rivers. He is everywhere and everything you do is caught on camera then released to the public. Remember, the games are live so what President Snow records your families, friends and others are watching.

Characters:

Now, I've already stated this before but everything is different. You may be given the title Katniss but that doesn't mean you're an excellent hunter. Heck, you shouldn't even be able to hold a bow and arrow. I mean, who can honestly say that they're a marksman these days? The same with Peeta, you probably can't make cakes let alone camoflauge yourself. Now I am well aware that there aren't many non-pc characters but since I doubt that many people will join, I'll let those go and if people actually want to join as one of the non characters and make them someone then that's fine. See rules for more on the details. Also, if you wanted to make one of the other characters like Gale or Prim and make them one of the non-pc characters then don't let me stop you.

Spoiler
District One:

District Twelve: (They'll be unavailable for now)
-Peeta [Taken by Skins]: Felix Lockett
-Katniss [Taken by Isha]

Rules (Read them they have more in them then you think):
-The role of Katniss and Peeta will not be free. I am going to give them out to someone who I think could do it well and then if they won't take it, I'll let y'all go for it. The roles of Katniss and Peeta will be verified by yours truly.
-Also on the lines of character building: Glimmer was mean, cruel and just plain terrible. The girl that is chosen could well be the nicest person you ever meet. It doesn't just stop there. These characters could be turned compeltely upside down. Gender wise I mean. Katniss could very well become Katni. It was one feature that made you stand out to President Snow but that doesn't mean anything. You could be compeltely different from the way Suzanne Collins portrayed her characters.
-All YWS rules apply.
-Swearing is very much allowed. Just don't go overboard so that every second word begins with the letter F.
-Hmm, what else...President Snow will try and make the story go this way and that but really it's all up to you. Who dies first and who dies last doesn't specifically mean that Katniss and Peeta will come out victors.
-Killing is wanted but unless you've verified with the owner of a character, you cannot kill that character.
-Non-PC characters are also up for grabs.
-Unlike in the story, you are not a brought up with the prospect that one day you'll leave your district to fight against 23 other people, which means that you won't take death or even the games so easily. There will be tears, in fact there will be a whole heap of hesitation. Killing someone is not easy guys, people go mad. Bring those real-life prospects into the SB.
-Remember, you're just a normal kid off of the street so I don't want to see three character profiles who are masters of karate and then one who was born to be a CIA agent. Keep it realistic: school child. Powerless.
-Have fun!
-Oh, and if you haven't read the book it doesn't matter.

Approved and I'd like to claim a spot, though it will just be one of the randomers since I haven't read the books and couldn't say what the characters look like. I'll make a bio a little later ^^

Here is your Glimmer! :)

Name: Cassandra "Cassie" Stonem

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Character Role: Glimmer, District 1

Appearance: Cassie's look is just plain cute and adorable. Before, you wouldn't even have recognized her. She used to be chubby, with brown hair, and green eyes. Now, she is very skinny (thanks to her disorders), and she has long, curly blonde hair and dark brown eyes. Cassie is average height for her age and is very, very pale. She has slightly rosy cheeks to compliment her paleness. If you look into her eyes, you'll see that dreamy look she has.

Image

Personality: Cassie is the kindest and sweetest girl you can ever meet, despite her character as Glimmer. Cassie is pretty gentle, and has a way with words. She is and looks pretty innocent. Although she has a kind demeanor, she can still let out steam like anyone else. Whenever she's angry, she looks pretty scary, but she sill looks gentle... Which is weird. Cassie is a graceful and delicate being. Cassie is a total dreamer, and you'll see her spacing out in the Hunger Games a lot. :)

History: Cassie was born in Bristol, England to business parents. Her parents were always travelling and working, leaving her alone. Cassie didn't mind at all, since she thought that she could have time to dream and all, but she liked it when her parents were actually there with her. Cassie attended an all girls school in Bristol, but later dropped out when she kept getting bullied. She got bullied for being awkward around people and always being "out of it", and worse, being anorexic.

Cassie was anorexic since she was 15. The bullying got to her, since most of the taunts were "you're way to big" or "you twat, why are you so fat?" Truth is, she wasn't really fat, she was just chubby that time, but she believed the whole thing. She began not eating, purging by the use of laxatives and diet pills, and later, she had a dramatic weight loss. Her parents (of course) weren't there to witness it, and never really knew. Cassie gained bullemia later, and was finally declared "anorexic" by her doctor.

Cassie tried to get rid of her bullemia, but the taunts kept coming and coming, only bringing her down even more, until she dropped out at the age of 16. Now, every day, before her parent's go to work, she puts on her uniform, and pretends to walk to school. When her parents are gone, she either goes shopping, throws up some more, or just sits somewhere and dreams. One day, someone just picked her off the street and declared her as "Glimmer from District 1".

Strengths: Cassie is just plain adorable. You wouldn't even want to hurt her, since she's innocent inside and out. Cassie is pretty good at loopholes, fixing situations, and so on, since her parents are business people. She is pretty good at volleyball (she was on the volleyball team before she dropped out), but I have no idea if that means anything in the Hunger Games.

Weaknesses: Cassie can't fight. At all. She has two types of eating disorders: anorexia and bullemia. In the game, you'll probably see her running off a lot to purge. Cassie dreams a lot, so she might not see an attack coming. She is pretty delicate, and will need a lot of protection.

Other: Up for love, and she's straight. Since she's born from England, she has a British accent.

I call Rue! Will edit soon.

Name: Piper McLaughin.

Age: 17.

Gender: Female.

Character Role: Rue - District 11.

Appearance:
Spoiler
Image

Personality: Piper is the exact opposite of Rue. Piper is a cruel, heartless girl who cares for no one. She fighs viciously and mercilessly. She trusts no one and you really shouldn't trust her. She'll kill you without a moment's hesitation, and she'll spit in your dying face as you beg her for mercy. Got it yet?

History: Piper grew as a Peacemaker's daughter, leaving her wealthy and spoiled. She has no friends and doesn't want any. She lies and betrays, making her a hated enemy school. Shocker, like she cares.

Strengths: She is physically strong. She's fast and cunning. She can fight pretty well, hand-to-hand or self-defense. She can throw dagger pretty far. Her best defense is her innocent looks and her doe eyes.

Weaknesses: She's always alone so she has to depend on herself for survival. When she's alone, or with someone she really trusts, she'll reveal her emotions. It does pain her to be alone, and she hates it, but she'd absolutely never admit it.

Other: Up for possible love and alliances. You have to try though. Hard.

Profile for a guy-version of Foxface:

Name: Micah Kitt

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Character Role: Foxface

Personality: Micah is generally a pretty nice guy. He's got plenty of friends at school, an easy sense of humor, and is pretty intelligent. However, he is also fairly compulsive, and he does a lot of things that he regrets later, for no good reason.

History: Micah's parents have always been distant from him, and for both middle school and high school, he's been going to boarding school. That's okay by him, as he has lots of friends, good classes, and he doesn't have to deal with cool and relatively uncaring parental units. He's never had much luck with relationships, but that doesn't bother him that much. He's read the Hunger Games, although, of course, he has no idea what is about to happen to him...

Strengths: Intelligent, fun-to-be-around personality, protective of friends.

Weaknesses: Compulsive, and occasionally very sarcastic, also, not that well in shape, although he's fairly slim.

Other: Up for love, if he ever gets the chance...

Name: Felix Lockett

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Character Role: Peeta Mellark, District 12

Personality: Felix isn't much like Peeta Mellark... at all. He's outgoing, he's always talking, he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, and he's extremely loud, so even trying to camouflage himself is an impossibility. Don't even get me started on Felix's cooking/baking capability.

Despite those few things, one way Felix is a lot like Peeta is that he would only ever hurt someone if it was necessary, and if he was defending someone he cared for. He loves people and loves getting along with them even more, so even the thought of killing someone would make him feel queasy. It's probably their only similarity though because the main difference is that fact that Felix's rather confident that he's gay. (When Apple asked me to specifically create an overly excitable queer guy to play the role Peeta, I couldn't say no.) Basically, he won't be falling in love with Katniss any time soon.

When it comes down to it, Felix is pretty stupid, although it's in more of a lack of common sense way rather than in an academic way. He's pretty clever academically. He's very impulsive, so he doesn't fear much, although it can also be bad thing. His short attention spam doesn't help much at all, although he has ADHD, so his behaviour is mainly down to that. In a way though all of this behaviour is pretty good because it builds him into an optimistic guy, no matter how many difficult things he's had to go through.

Appearance: Felix looks like the way Peeta's described in the book. He has ash-blonde hair and noticeably blue eyes. The main difference is that, most of the time, he wears his hair off his forehead rather than over it. With a lack of hair products in the middle of a forest though, he might have no choice but to wear it over his forehead. He has a number of scars because of his past (see History), and he's anxious about keeping them covered. There's one on his cheek though that's practically impossible to hide, so that's his most hated one.
Spoiler
Image

History: Felix has had his fair share of bad times. He was born into a strongly Catholic family, and he's the youngest of six children. At five years old, him and his dad were in their local bank when the bank got raided by a gang of armed robbers. Felix's father was very bold, so he tried to stop the robbers, but it really didn't end well. He was beaten up by some of them, and then eventually shot. Felix saw every last bit of this, so this is where his dislike of violence comes from.

From then on, things went downhill. His mother developed depression, and it was as though she became completely obsessed with her religion. She constantly planted the religion it into her children's brains and told them they had to be good people, which was hypocritical because she was both physically and emotionally abusive to her children. Felix got it worse than the others due to the fact he was the youngest, plus he was the child who was there when her husband died.

When Felix was around fourteen-years-old, his mother caught him with another guy, and they weren't exactly playing with Pokemon cards if you catch my drift. Naturally, she wasn't happy. That same evening, Felix was found unconscious in his house by one of his older brothers who'd moved out months ago. He was quickly admitted to hospital with a broken wrist, several broken an cracked ribs, a sprained ankle, a number of bad blows to the head, along with several cuts and severe bruising. He remained in hospital for almost three weeks. It was only him in the house when he was found: his mother had run off after what she did to him. To this day, no one has any idea where she is. Felix currently lives with the older brother who found him the night he was beaten, and since then, he's been really happy with his life.

Strengths: Aiden is extremely good at turning a serious situation into something lighter, and he's good at cheering people up in general. Although the majority of people are just freaked out by his unusual behaviour at first, they get used to it after a while, and end up finding it amusing. Aiden is also a very good liar. He aspires to be an actor when he's older, so that passion has increased his lying skills even further.

Weaknesses: His selflessness can actually be a negative thing too, especially for him because there's more of a chance he'll get hurt himself. Due to other aspects of his personality (he doesn't' think before he acts, he's terrible at subtlety e.t.c.), he's pretty skilled at getting himself hurt overall. His dislike of fighting isn't all too useful either because sometimes he really needs to do so, and he'll try to reason with the other person, but it rarely works. To others, Aiden can also be extremely annoying, so it's best to stay away from him if you're an impatient person.

Other: He's most definitely up for love. Aiden's not 100% sure on his sexuality though. Because his mother treated him horribly as a kid, it's made him far less trusting towards women, so that may be why he hasn't even given being attracted to them a chance. He definitely likes guys though. He may be bi, but it's as though he doesn't want to admit it to himself. It's a bit of a weird situation really.

Name: Isaac Edgar Whist
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Character Role: Nobody, District 3

Personality: Isaac is a major geek. He plays dungeons and dragons with his friends in their little den in his dad's basement. He's intelligent, logically minded and spends a lot of time living in his world of hypothetical theories instead of dating girls. Isa (as he calls himself) can be moody at times and is very bad at socialising. He's withdrawn and sullen but friendly if you take the time to get to know him and very loyal.

Appearance: Dark, curly hair and chocolate eyes. Isaac has a medium tan and a lot of Italian blood but his build is scrawny and he wears his jeans high on his waist and t-shirts that reference sci fi films or mathematic equations.

History: Isaac lives with his dad and younger sister. Their mum left the family some years ago and has a new one now with another son who's sporty and 'normal' and who she makes Isaac hang out with. But Isaac hates him. He's spent a lot of time visualising ways in which he would kill Chad. Other than that Isaac's life has been pretty standard nerdom. He plays video games, he does well in school, he has a small huddle of male friends but know nobody outside of that group. He crushes on the drive-through girl at MacDonalds and always struggles to order his food from her.

Strengths: Video games have taught Isaac a lot about fake killing. Unfortunately this does not transfer over to real killing, nor does his imaginative ways to murder Chad. His intelligence will work in his favour and he's good with technology, though I don't know if that will come in to it. He will develop a better willingness to kill than most as he has spent his life shunned by other people. But it will still be hard.

Weaknesses: Lack of social and team building skills. Unless someone takes him in, Isaac will end up as a single unit. Not very sporty so slow runner and no good in hand to hand combat.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Name:
Dean Candel
Age: (12-18)
16
Gender:
Male
Character Role:
Thresh
Appearance:
Spoiler
Image

He has dirty blond hair, blue eyes, and is 5'8. He has a nice muscly body, and is pretty slim considering how much exercise he gets. He likes to wear button ups over tee shirts, and wears his I love Bacon shirt every single chance he gets.

(yes, he is white ;) )
Personality:
Unlike Thresh, he talks ALL the time. Some could call it annoying, but once your his friend, you'll find he is really fun.
He's smart, and there is always a reason for what ever he does. Even if you think he is just talking to talk, he has a reason for it.
History:
He lived in the ghetto of new york, but found he had a uncanny ability in basketball. WVU awarded him with a full scholarship for basket ball.
Strengths:
He's good at sports, and when he was in middle school did archery. He can plan an escape at the drop of a hat, and is good at pranking. He can charm pretty much anyone, and is very good at lying.
Weaknesses:
He can't shut up. He tends to make to many friends, and has been known to get lies and people mixed up. He has also gotten to close to people he was planning to prank, and then never does it.

(Pranking is the closest he has gotten to planning)
Other:
Up for love? Totes. Straight ;)
Up for alliances? Mhmm. Just be careful ;)

Made a guy character expecting there to be an even ratio but there are way more males then there are females. Fine guys, I'll make a female character. Marvel, I hope you like being a chick. Also, the DT will be up soon I just have to post another character profile in a different SB. Yes, I know, I am terrible. Organisational skills are definitely out the window! :D

What else did I have to say? Oh right. Even though I forgot the appearance heading, just feel free to place it in. I knew I had forgotten something when I was writing. Don't worry, I'll place it in there. My profile will be up soon but since I created a male previously, it will take me some time. :D

Name:
Lanny (Lanchesta) Mcpipe
Age: (12-18)
16
Gender:
Female
Character Role: District 3 (unnamed)
Appearance:
Spoiler
Image

She's about 5'4 and really tiny. She's quite pretty, with almost brown, not quite blond hair with natural white blond highlights. She loves fluttery clothes, like tiered shirts, white lace tanks (as in picture) and skirts. She also loves rainboots and jeans. She doesn't wear makeup, and truthfully, doesn't need it. She has startling blue eyes, that seem to be able to read the thoughts of your soul. She always wears a silver necklace that has an owl hanging from it, that has a message from her aunt inscribe on the back My dearest Lanny, A word to the wise, stay alive. (nice coincidence hmm?) She refuses to take it off, and if you tried to make her, she'd get really nasty with you.
Spoiler
Image

Personality:
She's quiet, but when she does speak, it's always thoughtful and wise. Her head tends to be up in the clouds, and she has trouble focusing. She loves to write poetry, and always is writing. She loves music, especially like Owl City. She'd probably go crazy without her iPod. It's hard to get her attention, and you may think shes listening, but she's may not be. When she does focus, she gets mad if you're not. (basically she's a Luna Lovegood ;) ) She sometimes stop as she's walking, just so she can think. She loves clouds. She is also very random. She laughs at the worst times, and sometimes becomes very chatty. She's very loyal, and if she thinks your worth it, she'll listen to you no matter what.
History:
Lanny's parents divorced when she was young, and her father ran off when she was eight. Her mother remarried when she was 10, and they were all happy. Until... The stepdad's oldest son came to call. He reeked havoc in the family by talking about his dad and his cheating history. Lanny's mother, who had been hurt before, was angry and kicked the step dad out of the house, and then started abusing Lanny emotionally. The Stepdad's son soon moved in, and started pushing Lanny out of her mothers life. That's when Lanny found her joy for writing. Later, she moved in with an old aunt, who lived in Connecticut. When the aunt died, leaving her house to Lanny, Lanny stayed behind, taking care of it. She's lived alone for a year. Her mother pays for everything.
Strengths:
She's able to make every situation a little brighter.
She tends to make people laugh by her ditzness, and is good to have around.
Most people underestimate her, because she's so dreamy. But don't. She's very bright, and can outsmart you if you're not careful.
Weaknesses:
She tends not to pay attention.
She likes to be alone, but then again, she doesn't.
She wants someone to love her unconditionally, she might trust you too much if she thinks you would love her like that.
Other:
Up for love? Yes. But she needs a very nurtured relationship, and someone who would love her for who she is and watch out for her. (straight)
Up for an alliance? Yes.

I can still see you standing there
Summer tangled in your hair
First week of July

Will finish soon! Done! :D
Name: Alek

Age: 16

Gender: Girl

Character role: Girl from District 4. No one from the books, I guess she just reminded "President Snow" of someone from District 4 (which is the district known for fishing)

Appearance:
Spoiler
Image

Personality: Alek is cute, preppy, fun, and full of life, but also a bit selfish, spoiled, and judgemental. She's one of the populars in school, always haveing good grades, lots of friends, and being the captain of the cheer-leaders. So being thrown in the woods to fight for survival is definitely not her thing. She's always had everything going for her, some of the biggest desicions in life include whether she should go shopping or to the movies, whether she should make a career in dancing or photography, or whether she should go to the dance with Dillon, Aurther, or Trever; obviously, she has never come close to making a discision on whether or not to end someone's life.
Also, she's one of those "frienemies" type of girls, she knows how to play someone. Of course she's not evil, that's just her thing. And if she thinks you're worth it, she might even be really sweet and an awesome friend. But you just never know.

History: Alek lives a spoiled, no hardships, everything goes my way, easy-going life. She lives down in a beach house in Florida with her rich parents and her dog, Oki. Her favorite past times are to go fishing with her father and swimming with her friends.

Strengths: Well, because she lives on the beach, she's been fishing since she was in diapers, so she knows how to gutt a fish, which means she knows how to hold a knife. Of course she has NEVER even imagined using it for killing a person, so I'm not sure it will help her with that, but she does know how to use one.
Because she's a cheer-leader she's flexable and agile and has done gymnastics in the past. Although I'm not sure how that will help in the arena...
And she's good with photography. I KNOW that won't do anything in the arena but, hey, you told me to give her strengths, and her strengths I shall give ;)

Weaknesses: She's not used to this kind of stuff, at all. Life has always been handed to her on a silver platter, and if things don't go her way she might just have a fit.

Other: She's never read the Hunger Game books, so has no idea what the heck is going on.
And she's up for love.

Name: Bradley Newman

Gender: Male

Age: Sixteen turning seventeen.

Role: Marvel, District one.

Appearance:

Spoiler
Image

What made President Snow choose him to be Marvel is the uncanny qualities and connections which match the criteria the ex-agent had thought the real district one competitor had looked like. Because of such, Bradley has dusty blonde hair that falls like a mop on his square face, his eyes are a deep shade of grey that look blue when you’re up close to Bradley's face. Marvel is tall and has a box-like figure making him look stronger then he really is. Trust me; he uses it to his advantage. The one piece of jewellery he wears is the silver stud in his ear which he bought to spite his step-father.

Personality:
Bradley is a cocky, self righteous moron. He thinks about only himself and can appear very air headed at times. And I mean really air headed. Bradley was never one for patience either. He’ll step a toe over the line if it gets him closer to his goal even though death could be waiting just around the corner. Bradley doesn’t care, as long as he gets what he wants. The teenage boy is also very stubborn. Even though he’s been thrown into these games, he still has hope that somewhere over the hill there is still a normality waiting for him with open arms. Bradley’s also a little of a lady’s man, or so he likes to think. He thinks he can flirt his way out of any situation though in these games flirting will be the last thing that keeps this young man alive.

History:
Bradley had a pretty good life before it all went downhill. He had a gorgeous, caring girlfriend, his mother finally started dating again after the terrible divorce her and Bradley’s father went through two years ago and Bradley finally got that job he had always dreamed of. Everything was peaches ‘n’ cream, even though he had just moved to his second home this year because of the divorce. And that was well across the state! But that all changed, though not just because of President Snow. The week before he was taken, his girlfriend cheated on him for his best friend, his mother’s boyfriend was a jerk and they were going to get married and have a child (his stepfather wanted him to go to military school), he got fired from his job, oh and not to mention his father wanted custody over him and was willing to go to court for the ninth time. Bradley practically prayed to be pulled out of the shamble he once called a life but he had never suspected it to go the way it did. When he was taken, it had been the night he had shouted at his mother for ever saying ‘yes’ to his stepfather. After a heated battle in which his stepfather intervened and his mother sobbed at the kitchen table, Bradley stormed out of the house and walked, unknowingly, into President Snow’s arms as Marvel, a boy from District one.

Strengths: Bradley’s strengths are his viper quick tongue. He can talk himself out of any situation, as long as he has a clear head. What can I say? The boy needs his imagination to think up ludicrous stories which usually get him into deep water. If it weren’t for his imagination, he may have sunk into a deep depression long ago.

Weaknesses: Practically everything else. Bradley’s not good at fighting, he can’t tie a knot for the life of him, he doesn’t know a nut from a berry and he’s petrified of the dark! Let’s just say he’s a coward and a weak one at that. If he was smart, which he isn’t, he’d probably do something about that, but that is highly unlikely. He’ll most likely just make up some intricate lie to make himself seem better then he really is. I could go on forever; Bradley is a boy who hasn’t got many strengths but makes up for it in weaknesses. He’s not very fast and definitely not lithe because of his broad shoulders and almost box-like figure, and Bradley’s about as loud as an elephant whenever he puts his foot down. I feel sorry for him really, but what can I do, I just write down what I know.

Other: Up for love, I guess but you’re fighting to death so this may or may not happen. We’ll see where the SB takes us. We could possibly go to the moon with this guy’s imagination. Bradley has no training with any kind of weaponary but what he had learnt on Xbox or WII. He was pretty handy with a javelin (for those who don't know, it's a sport at out school where you throw a spear like thing as far as you can. The further it goes, the better your place in the rankings) at school sports but nothing to write home about.

If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever.

Russets and tangerine shades of old gold flushing the very outside edge of the senses ... deep shining ochres, burnt umber and parchments of baked earth—reflecting on itself and through itself, filtering the light.
