Aurora Clavelle

Seeing my counter-part was enough to shake some sense into me. A thug with a gun in his hand. Well. I'd dealt with plenty of those before but I also understood him. I knew that he was angry and afraid. Afraid that the only people between him and death were a group of children who'd lived the sweet life, the quiet life. I'd been thinking that myself. But what he didn't realise was that he had me. They all did. I'd made my choice by now and whether I liked it or not, I was in.

Once the boy was disarmed and re-seated a round of introductions started. And I was done being an idiot, so I slipped into my seat between Natalie, an air fundamental. And Jayk, the hot headed Earth. But at least he knows how to fight I reminded myself.

"I go by Rory," I told them since Aurora Clavelle was not an option. I knew better than most how posh and cultured my name sounded and it had been the source of trouble on the streets more often than I cared to remember. "And I'm Earth. Stubborn as stone apparently." I smiled at the lady and saw a few answering smiles around the table. The Lady did not smile but she did nod, whether to herself or me I wasn't sure. It was somewhat unsettling, to know they were sizing us up and placing all their hopes on us. And what had we shown them so far? A group of hot headed, foolish children. It was hard to not feel some measure of wound to my pride but I consoled myself by considering that they had not acted in the most favourable light either.

Liam

I turned my eyes towards the girl who had spoken. She was sitting on the opposite end of the room from me, but her spirit had caught me off guard.

After everything, she was sturdy. Kind of soothing, in a sense.

I pushed myself up forward, listening in silence as is what I usually did.

The room was returning to order, so I could tell. Though everyone was at their wits end, the Informer stood with her hands behind her back and her lips pursed in that annoyed manner of hers. She did not appear to be upset, or frightened. More or less, she looked like she expected it.

I suppose, in that, I felt reassured.

Unfortunately, for the last bit of time, I really wanted to speak with that girl. The sturdy one. The one who seemed to be completely determined within herself. She would be a good ally to have if anything.

Of course, speaking to her was not an option for me. It would be best to just sit and listen.

When it appeared to be my turn, I sighed. "I'm Liam." And that was it.

Suppose for a moment that the heart has two heads, that the heart has been chained and dunked in a glass booth filled with river water. The heart is monologuing about hesitation and fulfillment while behind the red brocade the heart is drowning. - R.S

Natalie McKenzie

I crossed my legs as Liam introduced himself. I looked towards the older girl beside me, and smiled. Well, tried to. I couldn't really give a true smile, after everything that has happened. Watching "the Service" conduct my suicide, bringing me here in tears, and finding out we are some sort of superheroes of our time.

It was ridiculous. I propped my elbow and rested my head on my hand as I listened to the other introductions. I decided to give myself a reminder of everything that happened today.

I'm Natalie McKenzie, 17 years old and I am an Air Fundamental... Whatever that is. I thought to myself. I silently laugh at the thought, but I also give a small smile.

(Hope this is okay!)

"A gun to my temple." Jerrson muttered, staring at the new girl, Rory. Nice name.

"I don't mean to be rude, but can we have something to eat? We haven't eaten since before our 'suicide' and we were knocked out for about five hours. I don't know about you lot, but I'm starving." Hanna said, glancing around the table.

The naive girl had said she would remember my name. I don't know why I feel so drawn to her, it certainly wasn't lust.

Soon enough the old hag began talking about some kind of war out of a superhero movie, I listened and was quite amused by these new revelations. A greed took birth in my mind.

What if a fundamental was to work with Karzai and rule the world along with him? I certainly had no family to save or anyone in the world I cared about, I decided to follow this woman and see what she had in store for us.

As soon as she had spoken several questions were fired at her, the fools I thought, talking about useless things. A few of the kids in this room started fighting with each other, that's when I had enough.

I stood up and took control of rocks from the soil in each of the pots around the room and bombarded them on to the ceiling. The whole room came to a standstill and the old hag looked like a singer who had her microphone snatched of her.

"Just shut the hell up all of you! Every one of you should stop arguing and stop asking these obtuse questions. Your family is dead to you as you are to them, accept that as a fact now and that will keep you focused towards the future. This may sound harsh to some of you but its the only way to go, if this society could track us down so easily and fake our suicide then have no doubt, they can kill your family if you don't comply with them," I shouted at them.

"This isn't the time for aimless questions, its the time for action. The sooner we find out what we need to do is the sooner each one of us will get out of this mess," I continued saying, this time a tone lower.

I turned to the old hag and saw her eyes gleaming with satisfaction. My ruse was working, all I needed was more information and a way to get close to this Karzai, I had no intention of actually killing him, he would make a far more powerful ally.

"I'm going to get right to the point here, what do you want us to do? Don't give me another speech on this boogie man and how we are fundamentals, unlike others in this room I only need to be told something once. Give me clear cut instructions," I said to her with passion burning through my voice.

I paused for a second, looked at everyone else and saw a mixture of adoration, disgust and confusion on their faces. I turned back to the old woman.

"What is our first mission?"

So the quiet one spoke up.

"An aggressive and blunt way to get to the point, but he's right. What do yo want us to do?" Jerrson glanced at him suspisiously.

I don't know what you guys think but I think we should just wait until the SB leader makes a post so we have some direction rather than have short posts that descend into pointless babble. Just my opinion.

Antony Cove~ (I apologize for sleeping so long. After seeing this I have to ask everyone to please wait for one of my post, I will be on soon if I'm ever off, before continuing with the main plot of the story if you are confused as to what should happen.)

There was chaos everywhere, people yelling, fire being conjured, guns being pulled! I was going to get up to stop them many times, especially when that gun appeared, but there was always more chaos pushing me back down.

Thankfully someone else got ahold of their guts and settled everything down. He stated what we all were too mad and depressed to accept, but he accepted it, and he was right. I stood then without any obstacles of fire, broken tables, or metal, and went by his side.

"He's right. It's not like we can change it. People are going to die and if I can change that then, well, I will. Nobody's gonna die as long as I have a hand in it... especially not my family." I sighed deeply and ran a hand through my short hair and turned to thank him the boy that stood first. He shrugged me off and turned to ask the lady a question.

"When's our first mission?"

I looked at the lady with a respectful smile, through the whole ordeal she didn't do more than blink her eyes and shake her head.

"Your first mission," she started, "is to eat. Your second is to sleep. Your third is to wake up. Your fourth is to meet on the roof of this building at exactly 10:00 A.M so you can be deposited in the immortal world and start your journey."

I smiled wide at her words and leaned back.

"Does everyone understand," she asked slowly. For a moment no one said anything but then Alice, who'd been sleeping for most of her time here, raised her hand. "Ah, Alice, the air elemental, why am I not surprised?" The girl blushed and lowered her eyes.

"I'm just wondering how you expect me to fight. I mean, I can't do many things."

"I knew this much," the lady said, "and prepared this." She bent over and pressed something on the smooth table surface. For a while nothing happened and I was about to ask what exactly she meant to accomplish by pushing a table when the surface pulled back and a platform rose out of it with packets on top. "Each of you have a packet, inside the packet will be a necklace with your element that is used to center your powers so they can be easy and ready to use. All you have to do is think about it. Also inside the packet is a book filled with different moves and techniques. So even you, Alice, can do something if you try."

Alice raised her hand again.

"Yes, Alice?" The girl grabbed her hair and looked down at the table.

"Is it a picture book? I don't like reading words for long." I laughed out loud, a sudden outburst, and blushed when everyone looked at me as if I was crazy. I covered my mouth and apologized.

"Yes Alice," the lady said. "It is a picture book."

(Visit the DT. It helps if you need answered questions. I'm also planning for Alice to propose a "kiss and make-up" session, so to speak, over lunch.)

OK. I might post after a few more. It was all getting confusing. People weren't using names, people were saying Hi to my character, then ignoring my reply, so yeah ...

Jayke Hartz

I was one of the people that had laughed at Alice. As hard as I tried to act mature (hey, I'm 22 after all), I couldn't help but let it out. But I quickly stopped because I was in the same situation as her: dropping out of highschool had led me to have a less than desirable intelligence.

When the girl from earlier, I believe Hanna was her name, took a packet, I followed her lead and took mine as well.

"Do we open it?" she asked. I rolled my eyes, not bothering to wait for instructions, and ripped open one of the sides. The necklace and booklet fell into my hands. My necklace looked like a large bead slipped around a leather strap. Kind of tacky by my standards as I would have prefered some chains, metal, and gems. But I took what I had and slipped it around my neck, wondering if everyone had the same items. No one had yet taken their packet besides Hanna and myself,

"Come on guys, don't be shy," I said, trying to act as mature as possible, "take yours," I playfully tossed one to Arwen. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to warn her and the packet hit her arm. She caught it before it hit the ground.
"Nice throw," she said, dripping with sarcasm.
"Sorry," I replied meekly. I had caused enough trouble for today, perhaps it was best for me to just keep a low profile. I wondered if their meals had any alcohol.

I'm going to stick to the "one post per day" rule, so this will be it for today. Will post more tomorrow.
If words are just letters put together, why do we decide on what they mean?
