Allora~
I had been hanging back behind the group, just out of camp when they found that note. Suddenly, the camp was a scene of mass chaos. Apparently, Ashe and Azure had found that we had been tracked by the Institute.

"Hurry! In the manor, quickly!" Arthur shouted. Everyone did as told and filed inside. I rolled my eyes. Had no one thought of the imposing threat. If the Institute was coming after us, why would they corner themselves inside? I stayed behind, knowing no one would notice my abscence. Like most of my life, no one cared to check up on me. Even when Jen had looked after me, she had always been too busy to keep tabs on me.

I slid down the exterior wall and kept watch. And despite my efforts, my mind couldn't stray away from my lonely thoughts.

Nila
I sat shivering, in the corner, scared and alone. No one had paid the slightest attention to me. Arthur was sitting, looking through that Incantus book and everyone was afraid to bother him.
Well, that was about to change. I stood up, and walked over to him. A collective gasp rose from the onlookers. I ignored them. I sat down and slid my hand into his. He looked around and his eyes showed anger but it quickly evoparated when he saw it was me. he kissed my hair and put his arms around my shoulders and I leaned back against his arm. Protective.
"What are we going to do?" I whispered, looking into his eyes.
"I don't know," he said, stroking my hair.
"As long as we have a plan." I said, laughing to lighten the tension.
"We all need to get some sleep," Arthur said, ignoring my weak atempt at a joke.
And so we all lay down on the floor, Arthur fetching blankets. We elected a watch person (Jake) and lay down. I had Arthur on my left side and Cat on my right. She popped in earbuds and rolled over to sleep, and grabbed Zytren's hand.

Arthur reached out and stroked my hair, and oddly enough it soothed me into a deep slumber.

Sometimes when I am dreaming, I accidently watch memories unfold from people near me. And this time, it gave me a memory of Arthur's.

Deep pain. He was lying on the ground, and it felt as if his body was on fire. "Oh Arthur, did you really think you could beat me?"
A beautiful woman was standing over him, dressed in blue, her black hair twisted.
"I knew I had to try. You will not touch my mother."
"Oh, I think you'll find I can."
And she disapeared in a cloud of blue powder.

I woke up, and the pain I had felt during the dream didn't go away. It stayed, and it became worse and worse. I cried out, and Arthur sat up. I was cunvoulsing, the pain wraking my body...

*Okay now I'm a bit confused about whats happening with the other group, and I need some feed back from Azure please.*

Ashe Breaker:

Ashe glared at the man standing in front of him. The institute's staff circled around him and Azure, it felt disturbingly like having a noose tighten around his neck. Gritting his teeth Ashe stifled his fight or flight instinct, far stronger than that of a normal humans. He'd bet everything he owned that at least some of the people had powers themselves.

Greaves, his father, laughed as he looked Ashe up and down. "I really should thank Clara." He mused. "Your mother crippled you emotionally when she tried to destroy your powers."

"My mom tried to protect me the only way she could think of." Ashe snapped, his voice thick with rage and grief. "If she had succeeded in destroying my abilities you would have had no reason to ever come near me."

"Instead she died of cancer after torturing you for years with no results, and you ended up in my custody son. All that effort was in vain." Greaves retorted, a cruel light in his violet eyes.

Ashe laughed mirthlessly. "Do you really think I'm that stupid. I have the senses of an animal. I could smell the poison on her body. My mother was murdered, and I can think of only one person with motive and oppurtunity."

Greaves smiled and shook his head. "We can discuss that after you're collared Ashe." He raised his hand and signalled for his men to attack. As Ashe tensed for the fight he had the strange realisation that he wasn't alone in his mind.

*sorry Ashe*
Azure
I was scared. I stood there shaking as Ashe talked to his father. I felt sick to my stomach, and really, I felt about to faint. The men surged forward as one and began to collar Ashe and as he struggled, I knew it was hopless. There were to many. After they collared Ashe, and he watched them with hungry eyes, that were so like wolf's eyes. They went after me. His eyes got huge and he lunged forward, but they had already collared me. I attempted to put them to sleep, but my powers weren't working. The collar! I ran to Ashe and wrapped my arms around him, shaking.

He looked suprised.

The people grabbed us, me still wrapped around Ashe and threw us in a cell.

Ashe put his arms hestinatly around me, and hugged me. and then I looked up and him, and he looked down and leaning towards each other....

I was elected to keep watch while the others rested. I watched out the window The full moon working in my favor. It was queit. I ran my hand over my black hair. Something just crossed my mind I hadnt seen Allora enter the house. My mind raced. I had to tell the others, I called out for everyone to come down. Arthur was the first one down eyes alert.

"Whats wrong?" He asked his eyes trying to read my face.

"Its Allora. She's not here" I explained. Everyone looked worried,"We have to go find."I said walking over to look back out the window.

"She could'nt have gotten far." Luna pointed out, walking over to stand beside me.

Arthur stepped forward "Allora's a smart girl. She can take care of herself" he said trying to be positive.

Nila wasn't looking very good. Her mind was completely haywired, which scared me to pieces. I whistled and called, "Isis, I need you in the potion room!"
Isis came and asked, "What's wrong, Master Arthur?"
I answered, "I need to make a healing potion. Are there any ingredients in Nanna's storage that's required for that?"
Isis said, rather grimly, "All but two things, I'm afraid. You need the blood of a Topaz witch and a dead cat. Those ingredients have been dried out since we came to the Institution. Unless you have any other ideas, then all you can make is a recovery potion."
My heart started to sink. The blood of a Topaz witch was something I could provide, but a dead cat was the heart-breaker. There were two cats in the house- Nefertiti and Isis- who are worthy canidates for the potion, but only one would have stand up for the sake of my beautiful Nila.
Isis said, "I won't let you sacrifice Nefertiti, Master Arthur. If you need a sacrifice, then it's going be me."
"Isis, I can't do that to you. You're too young to die."
"If it's for the one my master loves, I'll sacrifice myself willingly. My death will mean the recovery of Nila, that's all that matters to me. Your blood and my death will heal Nila."
"The Goddess forbid I murder you for Nila."
Isis put her paw on my knee. "I still have some power left in me. Besides, if you murder me now, I'll come back after the potion is done. We Siamese cats have eighteen lives in us. After you kill me, I'll just have seventeen lives left in me." She laid on her side and closed her blue eyes. "Out with it, then. Merry part and merry meet again."
I pried her mind. She was willing to sacrifice herself for Nila, so Isis rested her case. I sniffled and said sadly, "Ditto, Isis." I took the knife and slit my wrist over the cauldron, then rose the knife to finish off my precious cat in less than a heartbeat...
The potion reeked of maggots and overly ripe fish. The smell was enough to make me puke, but I had to keep my breakfast where it belonged as I bottled the potion up. I took a spoonful of the remaining potion and put it in Nila's mouth, silently asking the Goddess to forgive me for the death of my beloved cat.

"What happened?" I sat up, and looked around.
Some big force pushed me back, and I felt something against my mouth. I felt so disorinted. The force pulled back and I saw it was Arthur. My vision seemed fragmented, like the world was laid twice on me.
And I saw a memory.

Arthur was slitting his wrist, letting the blood drop into the caldroun. Then he grabbed Isis and killed her. Sniffing loudly, he dropped her in the caldroun.

And as I pulled out of the memory, I knew he had done it for me.
"How could you?" I screamed, my face full of anger.
"She'll come back, she has 18 lives. Ressurected if you wish."
I blushed. "Still! how could you kill your cat for me? Your precious cat."
"Your more precious." he said, and he leaned in, kissing me passionatly...

Azure
I lay there, cold, huddled up against Ashe. His arm was around me, but he look uncomfortable. The poor guy was probably embaressed. This was the first time I had seen him show any human tenderness.
"Ashe, what are we going to do?"
He shrugged, and his fingers stopped stroking mine. "I don't know. wait it out I suppose."
"Ashe, I never noticed it, but the chairman looks a lot like Arthur."
Ashe nodded slightly and said, "he is my half brother."
"What?"
"I just found out. I'm not sure why, but I suddenly knew, Arthur is my half brother."
"Oh..."

Nanna's bedroom

I looked into the Family Incantus and went through the Topaz family tree. There I found her, my beloved mother. She was bronze like I was and had the same bloodred hair as I did. I started to get upset. Mother was kind and willing to let Nanna train me so I could learn everything the both of them knew. I whispered, "I wish you were here, Mother. You would've told us what to do for our brothers and sisters. I'm no leader. If you were here, tell me what to do and help me protect my new kinsmen."
Nila was petting Nefertiti and eying me with anger still in her eyes. She was still mad at me for killing Isis, even though I told her twice that Isis let me do that because she asked me to.
I bowed my head in shame. I lost Nila's trust, just like I lost Gramps' trust two months before his passing. The day I drowned his dog was complete accident, but Gramps trusted me less and denied me the approval of having a pet of my own. I whispered sadly, "I'm sorry, Nila. I did it because Isis asked me to. I had no choice."
A strange purring made me look to me left. It was Isis, fresh like I never killed her. She said, "Nila will forgive you, sooner or later. But for now, let her settle her emotions her own way. Time heals all wounds, Master Arthur."
Look down and show some mercy if you can.
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man.

Ashe Breaker:

Azure sighed and looked at Ashe. There was fear in her hazel eyes but she was pushing it back. "No offence Ashe but your family is way too complicated."

Snorting, Ashe stifled a laugh and flashed Azure a cocky grin. "Yeah, you're right it is." After a moment he sobered. "I'm sorry for dragging into this Azure. I wasn't thinking when I found that tracker or I would've been more careful. I would've made you stay behind."

She scowled and whapped him on the shoulder. "Well someone needs to look after your sorry hide. You're far to reckless."

Ashe glanced around the plain white washed cell. Idly he wondered if the others would come save them or leave them behind.

Nanna's bedroom

I decided to strike the nerve to rally the troops. With Isis next to me, I opened the Incantus and said, "Guys, I propose we go and rescue our comrades. I know this is likely a suicide mission, but I am not letting the Institution win this game. We are what they fear the most because of our strength. We are wayward people, born and raised. I was raised by my mother and grandparents. You guys already seen Nanna, but never Gramps or Mother. I could go on about my family history, but now is not the time.
"I suggest we train ourselves here and perfect our powers to the point where we can outdo the Institution. I know not many of us have power over the elements, but I know for a fact that we can beat the Institution and earn our place as free people. I stand before all of you as a mind-reader who is a witch on his mother's side and has the power to control water. The Institution never knew I can control water nor did they find out I was half-witch. But enough about me. This means all of us. So who's with me?"

Nila

"I am," I whispered, standing up and joining Arthur's side. He looked at me, and so did Isis, who was at his feet. I still felt angry, but I did love him.
"Thank you." He reached out for my hand, then stopped, hestating. I took it, and sqeezed, letting him know I was forgiving him.

For hours, the rest of us trained ourselves for our assult on the Institution. Isis had kept Nefertiti busy by letting her play with a ball of red yarn. I made different potions during my private times in Nanna's potion room, but for once I let someone watch me work. Nila helped me put in different ingredients, despite the smell of the potions. One potion had a smell so strong the both of us coughed and gagged. "Garbage and skunk cabbage! What a stench!"
Nila asked me how could I handle the smell when it was this strong.
I answered, "I've made potions that smell a lot worse than this. When it comes to potions, the more you make, the more bearable the smell is. I've been making potions since I was seven. It's fun, once you know what ingredient does to the potion. However, what you have to look out for is the aftersmell. That happens after the container is broken. Why else do you think the Institue smelled like a sewer when we escaped?" I bottled up the potion and corked it quickly. "This bad boy's going to be pretty nasty if someone breaks the bottle. The Incantus says this potion can create a smell that can be noticable in a twenty-block radius. We'll need this for a last resort."

*Just so people know Ashe can still be hurt by electricity unless he's the one who generated it.*

Ashe Breaker:

Ashe fought the urge to scream as electricity coursed through his body. He'd bite off his own tounge before giving Greaves that sight. The jolting pain eased away as they turned the voltage off. Ashe panted for breath through clenched teeth, watching the room from under lowered eye lids. He couldn't see Azure but he could hear her arguing in the background, trying to get them to stop.

His father stood to the side with an expressionless face. "I'd like to see what he'd look like writhing on the floor from electrocution. Ashe thought as he glared defiantly. "The others better get here soon or I am not going to be held responsible for my actions."

I grunted as I felt a jolt course through my body. I forgot I had the Tracer on me. I closed my eyes and focused on Ashe. The electricity was coursing through him like water through rocks. I said, Hang in there, Ashe. The calvary's on the way. Tell Azure to stall the staff. Ask the Chairman what he knows about Amethyst Topaz, but don't say you heard it from me. We're coming to save you and Azure. Just hang in there. I told Isis, "Ashe is in a heap. We better rally up."
Isis said, "Of course, Master Arthur. Nila and I will rally the troops. When do we attack the Institution?"
I grinned slyly. "We attack tonight. It's time we go to war."
