What are you reading at the moment?

I meant it more like, "I couldn't get through it but the description wasn't so mind-bogglingly dreary as LotRs.", not plotwise or characterwise or...magicwise. XD

Hmm. Still haven't started on the Holmes' book, yet...

Oh, haha. In that case, maybe. (The first couple chapters are tough, trying to get your head around the Old Kindgom and remembering all of the bells, but it starts to get easier after that.)

Still reading Bram stoker's Dracula.

Soon to start reading A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby for English Lit.

Just finished All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren. At which point I died and went to literary heaven. Oh. My. Lord. Worth ever milimeter of that Pulitzer.

And now I'm back on to The Artist's Reality by Rothko. He's so cynical...

My list of "You need to read these books before they eat you" [a joke my dad made*] keeps getting bigger, and I'm kind of scared...


I'm still reading The Idiot, but at least I only have 200 pages left now. A lot better than having 400 pages left, hehe.


*I was freaking out once and saying, "I don't have enough time to read!" My father responded with: Do you ever dream that books are trying to eat you in your sleep for not reading them? heheh. Yes, father, I do.

[i]The Book Thief[/i] by Markus Zusak. Depressing, but beautiful.

Now that I've got free time again I'm reading American Gods and The Silmarillion. I meant to bring Lirael and read that, too, but I forgot and left it in my dorm.

Finally finished The Belgariad, gave up on Les Miserables (I'm only one person, with a weak soul), and am currently still reading Good Omens. This has taken longer than expected due to me reading Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which was excellent. The next two books on my list are Of Mice and Men, which I have to read over Christmas for English, and Son of a Witch, the sequel to Wicked.

Oh, Smurfy, Good Omens is one of the best books ever. Do enjoy it. (I actually just read some smashing Good Omens fic last night. Delicious, delicious fic.)

A selection of poetry by Dylan Thomas and Mr. Midshipman Fury by G.S. Beard. I'm a sucker for Naval Fiction. It's like my chick lit ...

Jack, haha, navel fiction is a lot cooler than chick lit.

I finally finished The Idiot last night! Yay for me! So now I am reading The World of Null-A by A.E. Van Vogt. Only my great uncle has the power to convince me to read science fiction... and it's actually pretty cool. Sometimes the writing makes me cringe, but then at other times the writing is really good. The plot, though, certainly has won me over. I'll have to give more thoughts on it when I am done.

That book is LOVE, hun. I don't know if I'm the only one raving about it, there's just so many good pieces and the voice and the style and...-faints again-

That, and rereading basically all the Sarah Dessen books too. She's an amazing author; I couldn't live without her.

Markus Zusak's I Am the Messenger is also excellent, too. It's the kind of plot that integrates both action and character kind of plots together, and does it well. Like, wow.

Umm...oh, and Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. I'm sort of suffering through that...

Let me see...the Dictionary [I'm on "F"], some literature textbooks, I have this book about literature published in 1946, and Vanity Fair. Becky Sharp is sort of boring me, though, but I don't want to start over. :0

So yup. Love reading. That, and reading books off of my Maddie's booklist. She's pretty good at finding good books.

I just finished Weetzie Bat (again), but I'm still working on American Gods and The Silmarillion.


(& I'm thinking I might have to read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, because I keep hearing how good it is.)
