We thought of the idea today, but so far we have a rough sketch of what it might look like.

Okay, by How I guess you're asking what'll happen to most of the YWSers joining? Well here's the plot:

Meshegunah, in a mad bid for power, takes advantage of Nate's absence by allowing a member of YWS to assume that Nate is missing or was kidnapped in some accident or other. She has been grooming Brian for this day and does not want to run as Head Admin outright because Big Brother is suspicious of her. Because they refuse to elect another admin, Big Brother is challenged by little factions that have been forming. One user calls for a general election to decide which group will become the new Big Brother. In a last ditch effort to save YWS, Big Brother assembles a group of heroes to search for our missing commander (secretly hoping the heroes can find out what Mesh and Brian are up to).

Now, the main thing here is that this is a Musical. That, and that there are political/ideological differences in YWS members. So there are different groups. At the moment, perhaps between five and seven, more likely five major groups opposing Big Brother. Big Brother is not running as it firmly believes Nate is still alive as is stated int he synopsis. What we were thinking is that we get a few members to represent the five groups - a minimum of three per group and there is a strict criteria for these groups: they need to have strong personality, not just be fan groups. They are kind of based on what might be called the Generic groups (think of it like elements: Fire, Water, Wind and Earth or alternatively Energy, Earth, Ice, Light and Darkness) with themes to them (for example, The Princesses have a 'light/wind' archetype of being graceful, clever, hauntingly beautiful).

The Princesses might be represented by three or four YWSers within the story, but the actual group is going to be much larger (if we have a large turn-up for this thing). There are going to e three Acts to this thing, in Pantomime fashion etc. These will be strictly directed and kind of private. However, there will be two minor Acts that will have next to no rules. Anybody can contributes songs or dance numbers and assosciate themselves and their songs to a group - allowing that group to use the song. So if you don't think you'll be a major contributor to the story, but still want to join in *somewhere*, you'll get an opportunity during the two minor Acts. You can, for example, group up with some friends to make something like... The Ego-Maniacs, who identify with a certain major group and as the Ego-Maniac's you can create a minor performace (e.g your characters are going through the cit sticking up psoters about the election whilst singing a Take Back the City ~ Snow Patrol parody).

There will be prizes - between points, gifts, bragging rights... we're trying to bribe get the mods to help us think of really cool gifts, but as of yet nothing static. Yes, one of the groups will win the Presidential campaign. Yes, a contributor to the two minor Acts will get recognized (e.g Best Minor Act Individual Song, Group Song, Parody, Dance Number).

We'll do it entirely by page, but you'll be allowed to link YouTube videos of the song you have for reference sake. The whole aim is that you combine lyrics with scripts to make a musical. And go wild! Don't just have lyrics and then a story. Describe the setting and mash up the song with dialog. For example:

Group 1 Leader is meeting with Big Brother to cast their vote - let's say it's Vulcan.
Poker Face Interlude plays in the background as he walks to their office.
Vulcan kicks down the door and extras in the group walk in with him, singing the first verse of Poker Face

*I wanna hold 'em like they do in Texas...
... if it ain't rough then it ain't fun"*

Vulcan: Oh, oh, oh, oh, OH, oh, oh, oh...
Friends: We'll get 'em hard, and show 'em what we got____

Vulcan begins talking as the chorus plays.
Vulcan: We're joining
(Can't read my, can't read my___)
Vulcan: And we're going to beat you all at your own game. So, get ready for the next challenge.
(He's got a Poker Face now.)

Chorus to end as everyone exits the building.
Fade with Vulcan singing.
Vulcan [Almost in a whisper, barely singing as talking]: Can't read my Poker Face_____

That wasn't properly formatted or anything - the real scenes ought to be longer and more detailed - but you get the idea. Anyway, that's how I see it. Check with Last Paladin - he's the co-director for this thing.

And thanks for all the support (No, you don't have to splash your face across the internet)

---------------

EDIT: Anybody willing to is allowed to audition with voice recordings, but in the minor Acts, anybody can post. Please note we may or may not choose you based on more than your voice recording and that sometimes the group leaders might want someone with a great voice. It is NOT necessary to audition for a group with a voice recording. But you ought to do either that or write up a parody/singing scene a la 'Glee' where we use songs cleverly/original song (It can be a rap, Nate) You're going to be (roughly) yourselves, so no character profiles necessary.

A new idea is that we could have independant characters, not necessarily part of a group but maybe sometimes backing one for personal interest. This could include the YWS families.

Also, I'm going to eventually change this into a page - so don't get too comfy in the Lounge.

Can I be a bad person? I love being a bad guy. Some sort of strong and psyco antagonist.
You're new? Great seas! Why haven't you gone to the Buddy System yet?

My brother says if you compile it in libretto form, he will totally write the music for it. (And I would totally do this. Not sure where I'd fall in the casting other than 'extra', though, or part of the factions. xP)

Yes please.

Although I'm confused. Do we get groups together or do you do that?

I'd just like to say that YWS is at its best when it's at its most humourous. The reason that projects like 1000 Monkeys fail is because people are originally interested, but when it comes down to it they don't want to do it. But you saw the amount of interest just now when we're together making up puns and being stupid. If this is going to work, I think it needs to be taken lightly. As a group, we're probably not going to write a serious sort of musical about political intrigue. I, personally, and I'll wager quite a lot of other people, want to write something silly about Mesh's hair and SB addicts and just have a bit of craic with it. Which is why I'd say that we need to be able to laugh at ourselves. If we have a princesses group, the princesses need to all be shallow and worry about their nails. Things need to be over the top and loaded with private jokes, in-jokes and bad puns if we're going to hold interest for more than a week.
