Well, if someone had the technology to travel back in time, the lack of cell-phone towers would probably not be prohibitive.

That's what I was thinking. If a feat like that is possible, they don't need a tower for any time (hopefully people from the future think in advance). Whatever that device would be, it could use neutrinos for all we know. Actually...that would be super ingenious if somehow such a device could work.

I'm starting to think it's just an extra trying to act in character and look kooky.
