Reviews: How long do you spend?

I was just wondering how long people spend on their average review, not including the time it takes to read a piece as that can vary a lot.

I think it takes me about twenty minutes but how about you guys?

Well it really depends how many issues I want to address and how much good I've seen in the piece that I want to bring up. So, it takes anywhere between 20-40 minutes for me.

About ten or fifteen minutes. I only really review poetry, and I'm not one for writing lengthy reviews, so I tend to be able to say everything important I want to in that space of time.

Sometimes, I review while multi-tasking, so even though the clock says it took me an hour and a half from "Reply" to "Submit," it was probably about... 15-45 minutes. It depends on whether I've reviewed for the person before, and how detailed I think I need to be in explanations for things, etc. Also, on the writer. And on the piece. And on what others have said. And on my mood.

But 15-45 sounds about right.

I don't know, about 30 minutes for longer stuff and 20 for the shorter stuff. (of course some poems are really short and those don't take me long at all.) My problem is that I reread everything like a gazillion times. First for the grammar. Then for rhythm ex... I mostly review poetry. For short stories or chapters it takes me up to a hour depending on the person and if I do an overview or a nit picky review. Nitpicks take me longer, but I usually only do them if I am the first reviewer to do that kind. For younger writers or for someone who made the same grammar mistake a lot it takes me more time because I explain why I changed their grammar.

5-10 minutes, generally. Unless it's for school, and then I'll generally take longer.

It varies with the piece and time I have. I'd say 15-45 minutes.

It would take me 20 minutes to review a short story and probably 40 when it's a chapter. It actually depends on the time available, the length of the piece and... the mood.

I spend about 20-30 minutes on my reviews. Sometimes if I go into depth it'll take 45 minutes to an hour
Then again, I'm always multitasking while I'm writing reviews.

Varies. A lot. I once spent more than an hour reviewing a haiku (yeah...), but I can manage to read a piece and write a review that maxes out the points limit in about five minutes. I sometimes do it when the number of works with 1/0 reviews gets too high.

One of these months (when I actually have time to review again), I ought to see if I can do 500 reviews...

Varies for me, too. When I want to get a lot of reviews knocked off, about 10/15 minutes to get out 1k characters. If you have requested a review, or I have decided to go in-depth, then in the range of an hour/hour and a half. Incredibly in-depth reviews (I really like you/the work) take me about two and a half hours.

Like most of the other guys have said, it varies for me.

It depends on how my attention spam is doing that day, how long the piece itself is, whether I'm doing nit-picks or not, on what mood I'm in, and how long it takes me to figure out how to say what I want to say in a way that makes sense... Which that just didn't...

I think my average review tends to take around half an hour. Sometimes, I become stupid and get carried away though... That's why I always fail at the leaderboard thingy. I do try to do as many as reviews as I can, but because of school work and getting carried away when I do write reviews, I can't manage to do all that much, annoyingly.

Overall though, I'd definitely say 30-45 minutes on every review. Oh, and poetry reviews don't take me as long because I suck at reviewing poetry and never know what to say.
