A World of Chances



You are enrolled in some college in America. Before first semester starts, you are given a letter to invite you to be part of a study of the behavior of college students.

Hello,

You, along with nine other college students, have been given the chance to go and travel the world as part of a study for a year. Where you go, what you do, and how you spend your days are completely up to you. You each will be given one million dollars at the beginning of the trip, but may bring any more you think you will need.

All of you have been chosen at random, and we hope you will make the best of this opportunity. However, as part of the trip, you will each be given a water-proof video camera. Once every day you are required to do a five to ten minute video and tell of your experience for the day. Any additional recordings are your choice.

If you do not accept, please call 1-765-234-4564. If you do accept, please bring no more than three bags of luggage, a carry-on bag, and any other small items you might need to the Baltimore-Washington International Airport on May 3, 2010. Your destination will be decided as a group.

The only rules are you must stay in the same country as a group, all ten of you must return to America when the year is up alive; and that you must video record every night, starting with the night you leave the airport. Besides that, have fun and explore the world.

Written description: Aria is relitavely short, around 5'2. She weighs about 102 pounds. To her, she's painfully average. She has shoulder-length wavy brown hair, dark hazel eyes and a slim, but thankfully curvy figure. Personality: Aria is a true southern bell. Her mother raised her that way, and that's the way she is now. She has the thick, and I mean thick southern accent, and she tries to act like a lady. Sometimes though, she's like her daddy, a true redneck. She has her days where she isn't afraid to get her hands dirty, and will stop at nothing to do it. She's one of those people who you either love, or you hate. There is no, "Well, I know her, but I'm not friends with her," when it comes to Aria. Her piercings, as she says, are "a new style in the redneck-world" and she absolutely loves them. She's played softball since she was a little girl, and that has not only built leadership within her, but has also built some muscle that she isn't scared to use if she needs to.

Strengths: Her strength for a girl, and the way she can relate to practically anyone, even if they're from an entirely different background. She's also got that natural-leadership.

Flaws: A lot, and I mean a lot of people have it out her her. In high school she was a huge "talker" and spread a lot of things about the people she didn't like. That hasn't come back to hit her yet, but she knows it's coming. She also has a way of talking that not a lot of people understand. For example, instead of saying something like, "I'll be there in a second," she'll say something like, "I'll be there in two shakes of a sheep's tail!"

Special Talents: Softball, and her minor is in the musical arts, so she plays a little guitar and sings.

History: Aria grew up on a farm. Her father was a redneck farmer, and her mother was a talkin' Southern belle. She grew up around animals, and fell in love with them. In middle school, she wrote a ten page essay on why she wanted to be a vet when she was older (although the assignment only called for two pages) Through highschool and softball she kept that same goal, and now she's studying to be a vet, while playing college softball. She's excited for the trip though.

Written description: She is 5'7'', so reasonably tall. She is 114 pounds, and has a narrow build. She is thin, and quite pretty, but has next to no muscle. She has a beautiful face, and her hair falls to just below her chest. She usually wears her hair up.

Personality: She is sophisticated, and tends to be a bit on the serious side. She takes life very seriously, and doesn't spend much time in clubs or at parties. She has lived a sheltered life, and her attitude reflects on it. She tends to like to take the roll as leader, or organizer. She is a very organized person, and likes everything to be color coordinated. She is very stylish, and has elegant tastes. She tends to look at things in a literal perspective, and uses her hands a lot when she talks. She can be rather sensitive at heart, though, and is easily hurt.

Strengths: she is a good leader, sophisticated, good style, organized, smart

History: She was born in France. She lived near Paris until she was 21, and then moved to the US. She moved to Washington State, near Seattle. She thankfully had taken English as a foreign language in school. She was fluent in the language, but to this day has an accent, though it has faded a bit over time. Her parents always had lots of money, because her dad was a Senator in France, and stayed there while his family moved to America. He is now off as a Captain in a war. Her mother thought it would be a good idea for Jenni to experience new cultures when they moved to America. She originally went to college to be a movie director, but she got the letter. Now, Jenni is going to tour the world with an extra 400,000 in her pocket, and is very excited. She really misses her father, though, and thinks about him all the time. Her and her father were very close, and she hasn't seen him for a year. She has a picture of him she wears in a gold locket around her neck. She tries to be happy, though, to make her father proud. She worries about him, and hopes that something bad won't happen to him.

Written description: (height, weight, build, ect.) She's 5"6 and weighs 142 pounds. She has shaggy auburn hair, smooth skin, and deep black eyes. She has a slim body to match her long and lean legs. You will mostly see her wearing her cut off shirt, jeans shorts, and her favorite heels.

Personality: She knows he looks good, and she's not afraid to show it. She can be very conceited most times and is always where the drama is. If there's something happening, you can put your money on the fact that Rissa's probably the center of it. She doesn't try to be stuck up, it just comes natural to her. Being born into a family of models and actors, who can blame her for being the way she is? Around others, people may think Rissa's living it large and everything is going good, but no one really knows what goes on inside her head. She feels as if it's his only choice to be the way she is. Being snobby and arrogant to cover up her emotions. Putting other people down to cover up the fact that the things people say about her really hurt. And primping herself up to cover up the way she truly feels.

Strengths: Her power or persuasion and her influence over people. Over all, her charm.

Flaws: She's sometimes overly cocky. She thinks he can do anything and will never back down from a challenge as long as that challenge doesn't involve her getting hurt.

Special Talents: She's really good at persuading most anyone to do what she wants, leading to her being manipulative and sneaky. Also a very good negotiator.

History: Her mom was a top model and her dad was a beautiful and idled actor. Rissa was, quite literally, born famous and adored. All her life, she's been told to keep up her looks. "You must always look your absolute best, Riss!" was what she heard for every single day of her life. All through her childhood, and even today, she's constantly reminded that no one is better than her, she is the most beautiful of all, and she deserves nothing but the best that the best can offer. She's learned to keep all otherwise demeaning emotions aside - such as sadness, vulnerability, and weakness - and only show those emotions which scream leadership and power. It's because of her past that she is the way she is now. And it's her worst fear that she will never be able to change.

Written description: With shaggy brown hair and ember eyes, Jayce isn't easily missed. Some of youth looks stuck around; his chubby cheeks and curly smile are evidence of this. A few freckles speckle the tops of his cheeks and nose, though they aren't terrible bad. Jayce has an athletic build from all the intensive sports he plays. He stands at 6'1'' with a light tan complexion.

Personality: Jayce is enigmatic, aloof, stoic and a little naughty, much like an alley cat. He can also be sweet and kind, though thats only when we wants to be. He likes teasing people, especially people who are practically asking for it. Jayce is selfless and protective thus he is willing to distance himself from those he cares in order to protect them and stop them from getting embroiled in his own troubles.

Strengths: Jayce is nimble. And I don't place this lightly. Jayce can climb any height, no matter the danger, if it is a challenge, Jayce will go through with it. His strength is profound - to any normal person, though. In an overall basis, Jayce hasn't many strengths though, he is not useless.

Flaws: Jayce isn't very brainy suffering dyslexia and ADHD. His temper is horrible having him kicked out of all of his school's that he has currently been enrolled in. He will pick a fight with practically anyone whether they be a sumo/ cage wrestler or an old lady being wise about his looks. He doesn't care who gets hurt as long as he is victor.

Special Talents: (if any) Aerobics

History: Jayce was at the top of his peak; good looking, excellent grades, popular... it's his father died from a whooping cough out break that everything when down hill. He started missing days off of school, hanging around in the bad side of town and fighting with anything that moved. Jayce was expelled from three schools before his mother fell into depression. Hospital workers were always in and out of the house, and Jayce became nothing more than a scraggly kid feeing off of food and sleeping on the couch.

Jayce ran away from his house to live with a gang of other runaways. He was given the nickname Aleja kaķis because of his abilites to steal and sneak around un-seen. It was when his grandma accidently came about his body when he was trying to act dead to thieve someone that he pulled by the ear into intensive tutoring. Taken from Michigan and placed into Pheonix, Jayce's lfe slowly was grounded into three factors; School, Job, Family. Though he acts like an expensive, smart snob; Jayce is one hell of rebellious child and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

Written Description: He is 6'0'' even, and weights about 150 pounds. He isn't the tallest guy around, but is quite buff, with large muscles almost everywhere that counts. He plays football for his college, and it shows. He likes to show off his strength.

Personality: He has two totally different sides. One side, the one he shows, is tough. That side of him is a total jock. That side of him tends to be fun loving, but competitive. That is the side that likes to show off. This side tends to want to make people laugh, and be the center of attention. This is his flirty, player side that doesn't take no for an answer. He acts like he isn't very intelligent, although he really is.

His other side, the one he keeps inside, tends to be more conservative. The side that doesn't want to hurt anyone and just wants everyone to get along. The side that actually is scared to ask girls out, and wonders how everyone thinks of him is hidden away. He also hides how sweet and romantic he can really be. This is his smart side.

Strengths: he is really strong, good at flirting with women, great at football, and he secretly plays the guitar (no one knows this), good at making people laugh

Flaws: he hides a whole half of himself from the world, can show off too much, has low blood sugar (LBS), worries a lot about his mom

Special Talents: great at football, guitar and also learns things quickly

History: His dad was a pro football player, but died in a car crash when Derek was four. His parents had been very well off and money wasn't an issue. Then his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when Derek was sixteen and has battled it sense. She wasn't able to work anymore and Derek had to stop living the high life. He was enrolled in a public high school, and had to start working a job after school to pay for his college. He was given a football scholarship to South Carolina State, and soon became the captain of the team. If you ask him, though, all he'll tell you was his dad was a pro football player and that he plays too. End of story.

Written description: She's 5'6", lanky, and wiry. Carrie was and always will be a bit of a tomboy. She's got shoulder-length brown hair and a splash of freckles on her face. She's got a pretty bad farmer's tan, but she almost always wears a similar type of shirt, so it can be hard to tell. Carrie's got a pair of beat up tennis shoes that she always wears, unless the occasion specifically calls for otherwise.

Personality: Carrie is outgoing and friendly. She loves to laugh and mess around. Carrie is a true bookworm, though. She dreams of seeing the world, so going on this trip is a dream come true for her. Carrie is easily amazed by different customs. She's got her dreams and hopes very near and dear to her heart.

Strengths: Carrie is a very, very compassionate person. She's level headed and can easily climb into other people's shoes to see their situation more clearly.

Flaws: Carrie truly wears her heart on her sleeve. When something hurts her, it cuts deeply. Carrie is fueled by her own success. If she makes a mistake, she starts second-guessing herself, which only leads to more mistakes.

Special Talents: Carrie has a talent for foreign languages (which you might be able to guess, considering the amount that she can speak). She's also got an eye for photography, which is her real passion.

History: Carrie was born in a small town in Oklahoma. She was one of four siblings (all brothers) so she quickly learned how to "keep up with the guys". When Carrie first started taking serious language classes in high school, she discovered the joy of speaking a foreign tongue. Carrie quickly started to gather information on all different types of cultures and languages, and would stare enviously at the pictures in her books. One thing lead to another, and suddenly Carrie found herself majoring in photojournalism and waiting for an opportunity to travel the world. Then the letter came.

History: His parents where travelers until his father was killed sinisterly by his other travel partner when they were sky diving. He and his mother survived on the family fortune, until he
launched his own small tech company. His mother was forced to get married to his father's former partner and William vowed to frame him. In short story,the Redwing's do not have to deal with this adversary anymore.

Written description: (height, weight, build, ect.) 6', with slightly tanned skin and blond hair. His eyes are olive green, and he could easily be considered handsome. He's got a strong jaw and perfect teeth.

Personality: Relatively friendly, and shy around girls. However, sometimes he becomes quiet and angsty, and will lash out at people without warning, verbally and occasionally physically. During this time he'll lock himself in his room.

Strengths: Fluent in three languages and rather good at making friends. He's also an excellent cook and has a lot of connections, and is good at seeing both sides of a situation.

Flaws: Rather shy around women, and seems to have a split personality. he's not very good under pressure.

Special Talents: (if any) He's very good at Tae Kwon Do, knows how to program things and can figure out most technology.

History: He grew up in Seattle, WA. When he was sixteen he got into a car accident and nearly lost his life. Since then he's never been quite the same. That's when he started going through his "mood swings", but his parents and the doctors suspected that it was more serious than that.
